They make parents wait in a small library, take your student for…read morean hour-long assessment that over the phone was described by Admissions Director Megan Jones as to see how they interact with other students. Come to find out (after several emails requesting to know more about their request for a SECOND assessment), they are very critical of your child. Preschool Director Betsey Vallery states in her email to me: "[Student] was very interested in the items in our classroom and such a sweet little boy. He did have difficulty following teacher one-step instructions and redirection. For example, when the teacher called [Student] to small group to draw, he ran around the carpet area. The teacher came alongside him and told him to please use his walking feet and modeled her walking feet. This gentle redirection is usually very successful as it's 1:1 in this assessment setting, but he continued to run." [Student] had just turned four only three days prior to the assessment. He's extremely responsive with adult direction, and I find this commentary completely inappropriate. As a former teacher myself, this is not even something that should be a concern. In addition, she states that [Student] didn't know how to write name, draw a self portrait, count to 10 or identify shapes, all of which he's been able to do for more than a year. I wasn't there in the assessment, but I do wonder about the effectiveness of the teacher to inspire participation. I felt that this was not an age-appropriate Pre-K. They want students that already know what they need to know for kindergarten so they don't have to do their jobs in teaching them.

I helped out with the fishing game and a few of the activities, and I was honestly impressed by how much was going on. There was apple bobbing, a full petting zoo, fresh popcorn popping, and even a cozy indoor space where kids were playing and trading Pokémon cards. I ended up picking up a couple rare ones from a student vendor--which was a cool and unexpected bonus. One of the best parts was seeing how involved the kids were. They weren't just attending--they were running booths, selling handmade crochet crafts, and clearly proud of what they'd created. The whole event had this really genuine, creative vibe. The festival felt like a blend of old-school charm and community spirit, with a lot of thought behind every detail. Families were relaxed, kids were engaged, and everything just flowed really well. You could tell the staff put a lot of care into it.

To anyone who wants to learn martial arts and self defense! In the very beginning, my child adjusted to sparring, then it was okay. Great training physically and mentally. Great adult classes too. It's kind of like personal training in a team setting. Great workout! Staff and instructors are caring. Children learned about respect, discipline, leadership, friendship, and self defense. If they're in after care, they have snacks, do homework, taekwondo self defense. They don't want to leave, which is a good sign. In the beginning, child might feel it's tough, but once child gets used to the program, they grow and learn.

She is a kind, thoughtful, friendly,…read morecreative child, who started coming home with behavior notes shortly after her challenge with focusing was brought up in a parent teacher meeting. nine times out of 10 when there was a social dispute between her and another student, it was always her fault, she was never given the benefit of the doubt, never had anyone speak up for her. Even with testimony from another child and parent who said that she did not do some thing she got in trouble for, they never took her word for it. When she would tell her teacher about what another student was doing she was told to "stop tattling", yet, it was perfectly fine for her to get tattled on every day for the petties infractions. Her 3rd grade teacher never had anything positive to say about her, when there are so many positive qualities about her. The final straw was when Tabath Tuccillo- The wife of a youth pastor nonetheless- slandered and gossiped about my eight-year-old daughter to another parent who was volunteering in the lunchroom. She did not know that this other parent was a friend of my family. Had she kept her serpent tongue tied down, I would've never had the confirmation I needed to know what my daughter was being treated like at this school. I formally withdrew my daughter that same day. Who knows what other horrible things she has said about my daughter to other parents and staff, or what she has said to or about other children. So thank you, Masters Academy, and Tabitha Tuccillo, for showing your true colors. Now I know what to tell other parents when they ask me what my experience was like having my daughter at Masters Academy. A round of applause for outstanding Christian citizenship!
