I will start off my review with the positive - My daughter loved Jesus Rocks (chapel) and Vacation Bible School. Miss Mimi does a great job teaching the kids about Jesus with age appropriate songs and stories. When my daughter first started at Children's Lighthouse she was one year old. I really liked her teachers and everything seemed to be going well. When she was transferred to the two year old room I noticed she started to act very aggressive with her dolls, slamming them down and saying phrases that I can only imagine she heard at school from her teacher. I told management my concerns and asked to have her moved to a different classroom, but they said she could not be moved. They said her teacher was one of their best teachers and a trainer for new teachers so there couldn't possibly be any issues with her. She was even awarded Teacher of the Year the same year I complained about her. I know other people complained about her and yet they acted like I was the only one, completely dismissing my concerns. The teacher was let go years later for being too rough with the kids. What took so long? How many complaints of being rough with the children is needed for termination? Another issue I had with the school was the amount of sugar given to the children. I completed an allergy/food preference form at the beginning of each school year stating that I did not want my daughter to be given candy. I can't tell you how many times my daughter came home telling me she was given jellybeans or M&Ms. Every time I brought it up to the front desk they said they would take care of it, but it continued to happen. It made me wonder if the allergy/food preference form was actually used or just stuck in a filing cabinet somewhere. On party days, it wasn't uncommon for the kids to be given cupcakes, brownies, chips and cookies at the same meal. For my daughter's birthday, I brought in ice cream sandwiches (I asked permission before bringing them in). Someone else in her class brought cupcakes on the same day because her birthday was also that week. Instead of asking the kids if they wanted an ice cream sandwich OR a cupcake they just gave them all both. There has been so much turnover the last year you can't help but wonder what is happening behind the scenes. Children need stability and routine. My daughter had so many teachers in her room this summer half the time she didn't even know their names. It was always a surprise who would be the teacher for the day. In addition, the quality of teachers they are hiring has really gone downhill. Specific examples include teachers yelling at the children, leaving children alone in the classroom and teachers flipping their eyelids in front of four year olds. The lack of maturity, genuine concern and common sense is disappointing to say the least. I removed my child from the school for these reasons. read more

Selecting a daycare/ early child development center for your kids is one of the hardest choices we make as a parent. As a mom I always had a picture in my head of what they would be like and I can say Children's Lighthouse is that place. We actually kept our first daughter home for two years with a nanny because we couldn't find a place that was right for her and right for me as a parent. I needed to know that I was leaving my children for the day in the hands of not just employees of a daycare, but in the hands of people that truly love them. Of the 35+ employees every single one of them knows my girls name and they both run to any one of them to get a hug and say hello, it makes my heart so happy. It's like they are going to play and learn with family for the day while I'm at work which is all I could ever hope for. In addition to the amazing staff and facility the education and growth they experience is unlike anything. It is not organized chaos like I have seen at other places they spend time teaching children at every single age. They have outdoor play areas specific to needs for that age group allowing for safe outdoor time even for the babies as young as 8 weeks. They are directly across the street from Southwest aquatics and have a partnership that allows your child take safety and swim lessons during the school day (additional cost through the aquatics center of course). The summer program includes weekly bounce, kona ice trucks and career guests; it makes me jealous that I have to go to work and cant stay everyday in the summer. I have worked at Children's Lighthouse for almost ten years and I could not ask for a better place to work! The kids are the energy that keeps us all going, and the parents are super sweet. I love working with such awesome teachers! As a parent, it gives me extra piece of mind knowing that the teachers will go above and beyond what is asked of them to help my daughter- be it with a difficult math problem or just a hug because it's been a rough day. They provide the structure yet creative environment my daughter needs. They encourage parents to communicate with them if they ever have a question regarding their child, from day to day behavior to where they stand academically. I truly couldn't ask for more!! Not to mention, being able to work in a Christian environment is a HUGE plus too! The director has an open door policy and is more than happy to stop what she's doing and pray with an employee if they ever need it. The administration will do whatever humanly possible to accommodate lunch breaks to the teachers needs. They do run a tight ship, but if you wish to have an excellent company which provides excellent service, you cannot expect anything less than excellence from your employees. We've been at Children's Lighthouse for over 2 years now, and it has been a lifesaver. My youngest started when she was 18 months, and she has always felt happy to come to school everyday. Each of her teachers and assistants have been caring and do their best to meet every child's needs. You can always expect the management to be calling classrooms or walking in to check ratios, and rotate staff to allow proper breaks for teachers. Anytime my child gets injured, I can expect a courtesy phone call so there are never any surprises when I go to pick her up. Their drop-in program is so helpful for when my First grader is out of school, both children are conveniently at the same school. Their curriculum has helped my youngest excel in her letter recognition as well as her social skills. As a former teacher, I understand how challenging it can be to manage and discipline behavior within the parameters of the state laws, and they have always handled situations that I've seen in a professional manner. I cannot say enough about this facility. We will truly be sad when my children outgrow it:( read more

I chose Children's Lighthouse for my son for many reasons. First, they have a great reputation. Everyone I asked when I was researching had nothing but good things to say about them. Second, they are conveniently located across the street from my son's swim school. They have it worked out with the swim school so that he can go have his swim lesson twice a week during the day instead of me having to take him after work. Third, I like that they are owned by a church. Fourth, I can watch my son on my computer at work because they have video cameras in all the rooms. It is so cool! Fifth, my daughter is able to go there on days that her public school is out if I choose. That is such a great option for working parents. I was worried my son would have an adjustment period when he changed daycare facilities. However, he had a great first week and instead of clinging to me and crying like I expected, he walks in like he owns the place :) I can tell he really like his new daycare. I would recommend Children's Lighthouse because of their great reputation, beautiful facility, and friendly staff. read more
