This is not anything compared to Pinballz or Game Preserve, but it is a fun addition and we enjoyed it.

Parking is easy, it's next to the library so no charge to park and all access is flat. Overall it's a good visit but will only occupy 1-2 hours.

The building is constructed entirely of rock salt (yes, you can lick the building if you wish) and inside is a small museum that contains salt mining memorabilia and photographs as well as film of the Morton Salt mining operations. You get a free salt crystal as a take away and I bought a fridge magnet for my collection. I spent about 20-30 minutes here, enjoying the memorabilia, learning about salt and salt mining and chatting with a wonderful woman who clearly has a passion about Morton Salt and Grand Saline. I'm super happy that this quirky little spot landed as my 16000th review. If you are driving along I-20 east of Dallas/Fort Worth, this treasure is a 12 mile detour that will take you about 20 minutes out of your way. It's totally worth it. Due to the festival, the parking is kind of full. The entrance for the historic house is free. Donation is encouraged. This two storey house is colonial style. It turn Smith County. The house was build 1859. Overall the house visit only need 1/2 hour. We took one hour. There are some welcome clerk dress in old colonial time. At this visit, I learn different styles of stitching for the quilt. It is very colorful. The best spot for the picture is at the front with the columns. The other spot is the curve wood rail stair case.

The museum is very well presented and well kept. The artifacts on display are simply amazing! You get to walk through the hall of presidents, and then view Americas history through the cost of war. Starting with revolutionary war and the build up to it through the Afghanistan conflict. There is more to see and read than can be taken in in one visit. We spent several hours in there, and even as a bit of a history buff myself, I walked away with some new information. We booked our tickets online which was very quick and easy. We went on a weekday and it wasn't too crowded, which made chasing our little one around much easier. There's a parking garage within walking distance to the museum and you pay before you leave. We had an absolute blast especially our son. If you have an active little one who loves to run around and explore, this is a fantastic spot. Highly recommend - we'll definitely be back the next time we're in Dallas.

Heard offers short and longer nature trails with tons of areas to rest, shade, and signs. Our favorite parts this time were the dragons along the path. Kids from ages 2+ can have a fun time here. Purchasing tickets online was simple and let me choose the exact date and time I wanted to visit. Check in was quick with the email confirmation. The museum itself was very clean and I constantly saw employees wiping down and tidying exhibits. Some of the illusions were tricky to figure out at first, but the placards on the walls explained everything really well. The staff was also super helpful and happy to show guests the best angles for photos. Emma was especially amazing at helping frame pictures and making sure we got good shots inside the exhibits. One exhibit featured a spinning tunnel that was tough for me because of equilibrium issues, so keep that in mind if you are sensitive to motion effects. This is a quick and entertaining side quest while downtown. It took us about an hour and fifteen minutes to experience everything.Theres no rush and you move at your own pace. I would definitely come back again.

Employees were very attentive when asking if we wanted to get a photo, which is great. There was even one employee who was cleaning one of the mirror illusions, but stopped and took the time to explain how the illusion worked for us. I wish I had gotten his name, because he was an awesome employee. My main gripe, as stated previously, was that the museum was smaller than we thought. It took us 30 minutes to get through all the illusions, and for the price point to enter, just didn't seem worth it in comparison. I'm glad I went, I just probably won't go back for a while. I did get some nice photos.
