I settled…read moreon the company I had dealt with annually for over a decade thinking our relationship would assure me of a good job. In this world of so many scammers, it is very difficult to find an honest company, let alone one that does excellent work as well. Thanks to the recent historic storms, I developed what I thought were roof leaks. I have since learned that this was caused by ice dams, a very rare event in the south. When I contacted the company that installed my new roof they refused to come out. They said "Let the sun melt it and you'll be fine." So, I thought "They must know what they are talking about." I'm not a roofer and though that didn't fit with my common sense, what could I do? Plus, I had paid for an extra long, extra comprehensive warranty at the time the new roof was installed. I posted about my experience on social media and was contacted by Luke from Old Timers Roofing who advised I should take care of it now to prevent more damage, and that they did that kind of work. I'm always leery of someone who contacts me through social media saying "I can fix that" because you never know if they are the real thing or just someone trying to earn a quick buck who really doesn't have the experience and knowledge. I researched the BBB and several other sources that rated them highly. So I decided to give them a chance. Luke informed me that most warranties would not cover ice damage because it was so rare in the south. Strange that my old company didn't mention that but when I called them back they said Luke was right. Luke referred me to the owner, Josh, who immediately sent out TJ to break up the ice dams. All three assured me my roof would be fine but, if I hadn't cleared the ice dams, I could have had serious damage. I couldn't believe someone would even come out in this weather. I feel much better knowing that as a result of their efforts, I won't have more damage. TJ also recommended I have a water mitigation company check for damage though he thought mine was probably slight. I appreciated that advice as this was all new to me. As someone who is not wealthy, I was very concerned about the cost for Old Timers to break up the ice dams but knew it had to be taken care of to avoid even more expensive repairs down the road. I was stunned when Josh refused payment. My only regret is that I didn't hire them to put on the new roof. I always have my roof inspected three times a year to identify problems before they become serious. Despite having a warranty I will now be using Old Timers Roofing as I have lost confidence in the company who put on my new roof. I had been their customer for over a decade. I highly recommend you contact Old Timers Roofing for any roofing needs. They have shown themselves to truly have "Old Timers" values of honesty, hard work and knowledge. Ray Smith, AKA Tripp Smith completed about $10,000 of work at our house. We have had nothing but…read moreissues.. I left positive feedback on ratebiz too soon. He replaced walls in my garage due to termite damage, and re-insulated. They forgot to staple the insulation so was all falling out the next week. Husband had to staple it all in. Left a big hole open when replacing the wall which was not noticeable until I took Christmas decorations down for the season. Ray/Tripp did correct this issue. The walk thru door that he replaced swings the wrong way so now we have to walk in garage close door before we can get to light switch. The header board in our garage which is huge, spans across a over sized two car garage is now sagging in the middle. The aluminum trim will have to be removed and replaced and bolts run thru it. This issue was there at the end of job, was mentioned to him and he said it was that was the way the header board was cut. That is bull!!! He didn't want to take the extra time to correct his error. Now we have to get it repaired or its going to come down. He installed french door in our home and one of the doors is warped and has been that way from installation. He has not been willing to do anything about this issue so now we are stuck with a $1700 door that sticks out at the top approximately 1 inch. Open crack at top and bottom so when wind blows the blinds in the room move. When wrapping the doors walk through, and garage door, and a window in aluminum he said it was the only color available which is almond. My house is desert sand siding so now it looks like they are wrapped in yellow. Just had someone come out to give an estimate for repairs and was told that he can wrap around the doors, and was able to match the color. Beware and do not deal with this contractor!!!!!!
