This is my first Yelp review and I would like to share our experience with others. But first some background, we had our asphalt roof replaced by a local contractor (not Skywalker) this summer. The job was a disaster. We had many leaks and there were workmanship issues throughout. Additionally, extensive damage was done to a metal roof covering an adjacent porch. The process with Skywalker began with Mark (job estimator) coming on-site to provide us a quote. After our previous experience we had lots of questions regarding repair versus replacement. He met with us several times and displayed more patience than I would have. In the end we decided to have both the asphalt and metal roofs replaced. Let's be honest -- Skywalker is not the cheapest roofer. However, we were willing to pay a little extra to insure that the replacement of the roofs would be done right this time. Before Skywalker started, their job supervisors came on-site and walked the property with us. After the first contractor, we educated ourselves about roofing and learned that there is more to roofing than just nailing down some shingles. They listened to our concerns and explained how each would be addressed. The first roof to be replaced was the asphalt roof on the house and some outbuildings. The crew that replaced the faulty asphalt roof did a great job. They were polite and respected our property. They did quality work and cleaned up the job site. The old shingles were thrown directly into a dumpster (not on our plants like before), and the manufacturer's instructions were followed (nailing versus stapling underlayment, etc.). We asked that some bowed roof decking get replaced, but they missed it and shingled over the spot. We pointed out the omission and they immediately pulled off the shingles, replaced the decking and re-shingled the spot. We got no push-back or griping. The job went exactly as promised. Sadly, no job is perfect. When it rained a few days later we found a leak. Skywalker immediately came out, while it was still raining, and tracked down the problem to one of the original roof power vents (which we should have replaced, but didn't). The vent was replaced at no extra charge within a couple of days. That took care of the leak. They even re-caulked around some windows. A second crew replaced the metal roof. I really liked my original metal roof and was apprehensive about replacing it. But it was severely damaged and had to go. I was pleased with the workmanship and attention to detail. Unlike some contractors, the roof panels were fabricated on-site. This allowed Skywalker the flexibility to accommodate the roof's nuances. At each step of the way, the crew was happy to explain what they were doing and why. The roof looks great. An on-site supervisor was present at our home overseeing the whole job. This greatly increased our peace of mind. When finished, the owner followed up to make sure that we were happy. Because we had been taken advantage of by the first roofer, we were very engaged in the job this time. Some contractors would object to the owner looking over their shoulder. However, Skywalker was proud of their work and happy to show it off. Skywalker really bailed us out when we were in a bind. I'd whole heartedly recommend Skywalker and regret not contracting with them originally. Lesson learned. read more

After months of hearing Skywalker Roofing television advertisement, I placed them on my list of four roofing companies to research for my roof replacement. After a couple of months of researching other roofing companies in addition to Skywalker, I met with Ted Webster, salesperson and John Stanley, office manager from Skywalker Roofing on two separate occasions. There were several phone conversations back and forth which were returned promptly. I had so many questions, not only on the Owens Corning products, but on the step by step process of replacement. All questions were answered and explained in detail. Skywalker Roofing was not the least expensive choice, however, there were many items that were not addressed on other roofing proposals. For example; one of the roofing companies I received a quote from did not list water and Ice barrier in their proposal. When I asked why, the answer I received was that it would be an extra expense, as they do not normally install water and ice barrier in the valley's etc. This was a red flag! Many of the roofing companies I researched use Blue Rhino underlayment or 40 lb. felt which I believe are inferior products. Skywalker roofing has two different underpayments that I was able to choose from. I choose Deck Defense which was a little bit more expensive. After extensive research of the Owens corning product and roofing process, I chose Skywalker Roofing a preferred Owens Corning installer for my roof replacement and I believe this was the best decision I could have made. Some of the reasons for the decision to use Skywalker Roofing are listed below; * I was assured that a supervisor would be overseeing the project 24/7 from start to finish. The supervisor would be my contact for any questions or concerns which would then be addressed in real time during the process. * All roofing materials and products used were thoroughly explained in detail. * I was given an opportunity of choosing an upgraded underlayment of my choice (Deck Defense). * The Owens Corning lifetime warranty and algae resistant shingle with sure nail made me feel comfortable with my choice of Duration True Definition shingles. * Special care was given to my lawn and expensive plants and shrubbery. There was no damage. * I was assured that any damage to my property would be handled immediately. There was none. * A seasoned crew was chosen to complete my project and it was completed in a timely manner. * All materials ordered for my project were delivered to my home. If additional materials were needed there was no delay in the workflow process. * The crew was on time and worked nonstop with only meal breaks * Clean up was performed during installation. At the end of each day my property was left clean and orderly. In closing I would like to say that I would not hesitate to recommend Skywalker Roofing to anyone who is looking for a professional top notch roofing company. read more

Over the past year we have had Skywalker Roofing come out & do repairs & maintenance on our rental property so naturally when it came time to replace our roof this summer we gave Skywalker a call. We did however decide to get two other quotes to compare prices. Out of the three Skywalker was the most expensive ($1100 more). My first thought was to go with the cheapest price until we started comparing apples to apples. The other two companies were going to use cheaper, less superior products. Jeff explained to us that the products used by Skywalker are superior to what other companies use & would protect our home much better. Skywalker was also able to offer us a lifetime warranty on our roof which was very appealing to us. Jeff was on time for our appointment & respected our time as he explained in great detail exactly what are needs were & how Skywalker could help. The other two companies were both late, rushed & one did not even get on the roof. After Jeff had explained to us what separates Skywalker from the others we had no problem spending a little extra money. We feel now as if we have a roofing system protecting our home rather than just shingles on the roof. The installation process went exactly as Jeff had described. We both took the day off to see for ourselves the total process. The crew showed up around 6:45am & went straight to work. Our old roof was totally gone by 11:00am & the supervisor came & showed us where he needed to replace some rotting wood. At that point he replaced it with new & started the installation process. It seemed everyone paid close attention to detail & went out of their way to protect our property & make sure nothing was disturbed. Once they started installing the shingles the job went fairly quickly. They were done by 6pm but were there another 2 & 1/2 hours cleaning up. This is where I believe the crew went the extra mile. They went over our property three times to make sure all nails & debris were removed. I can't say enough about the crew! They did a wonderful job. A few days after the job was completed we received a phone call from Skywalker asking how we were treated & if we were happy with our new roof. We were told to call with any questions, concerns or issues & they would be handled promptly. All I can say is it has been two months & there hasn't been any issues & we absolutely love our roof. Work Completed Date: July 24, 2015 Hire Again: Yes Approximate Cost: $9,954.00 Description of Work: Skywalker Roofing replaced my horrible looking roof with a very nice and new one (Owens Corning Duration Shingle - Onyx Black) First, I must share that I had two prior estimates from other companies, one of which is pretty well known nationwide. As I was about to make a decision I decided to search online to see a list of recommended contractors available for our area. We stumbled upon Skywalker, read the reviews and decided to get a third estimate. I called the office and spoke with Wendy who was very pleasant and accommodating, setting up an appointment for the same day. Luke (the owner) came out to our home and wrote up the estimate. I cannot say enough about how professional he was and the overall experience of merely getting an estimate. He took the time out to take a video of the entire roof which he shared with me prior to completing the estimate. I was so impressed with the video because without it, I wouldn't have had any idea how truly damaged my roof was. He took his time in explaining to me the step by step process, along with another video showing what would occur from dropping off supplies to installing the new roof. I immediately thought to myself wow, how is it that a small company out of Eden, NC could be so thorough and efficient in comparison to the two larger companies that came out prior. I knew then before I got the quote that it's more than likely that I would utilize their services and I did just that. Second, the entire 2nd day process was done in a timely and professional manner. Supplies were delivered 1 day prior to installation. The crew (total of 6) started the day on time, took no more than 2 breaks in a 12-hour shift and was very thorough. Again, I can't say enough about the professionalism from the entire crew and staff at the office. I was always updated on what was being done and was quite pleased with a follow up call after the job was done to make sure that I was a satisfied customer. Finally, I am pleased to share that I am totally satisfied with my new roof, and I will definitely recommend Skywalker Roofing to any family or friends who are wanting a roof replacement. read more

The company came to my home and sat down with me and gave the quote the same day. I was shown a Power Point presentation that explained what to expect from the completed job. I agreed with the quote and a date was set for the job to be done. I have a very large home with steep slope roof (12/12 pitch) and a large garage attached. The office staff were very friendly and answered all of my questions. They seemed genuinely interested in anything I had to ask or was concerned about. When the scheduled day arrived for the work to be done. The workers arrived on time and started work right away. They treated my shrubs and home as if it were there home. Taking care for cover all the shrubs. The workers were professional and friendly. All the workers seemed to know exactly what they needed to do and Safety was observed by them all. They finished the job in the 2 days as I was told during the original quote. Skywalker roofing is a top shelf company that does more to the roof valley, hips and chimney than a lot of roofing companies I have talked to. They did not ask if I wanted the extra care taken in these areas that is just how they do it at Skywalker Roofing. After the job was complete the clean up was so complete that if it were not for the new roof you could not even tell I had construction done on my home. I don't usually give reviews on line like this but I am so happy with the professional attitude and quality of work done by this company I felt I needed to tell others. What a wonderful experience with Skywalker Roofing! The customer service was excellent from all the employees I spoke with. I called around 10:00 am and they were repairing my Mother's roof by 1:30 pm the same day. I spoke with Wendy when I first called and asked how swamped they were. She was exceptionally nice and cheerful and said they would be glad to take on a new customer. I then spoke with John Stanley who was wonderful to work with. He assured me that my Mother's roof would be taken care of as soon as possible. An employee called to let me know they were on their way to my Mother's home. I was unable to answer the phone and the next thing I knew John was calling to let me know the workers were already at the house working on the roof. How is that for top notch customer service! I called the worker's cell phone and spoke with Ryan Puckett, he explained why the roof was leaking and was also very pleasant and informative on the phone. Please keep in mind all of this happened on 12/30/15 during the rainy nasty weather we are experiencing. Skywalker Roofing has a dedicated customer for life. Skywalker Roofing was recommended to us by a friend in Winston-Salem. From the very first interaction that we had with them, Christy from their office was good to work with, communicative, and upfront. It did not involve any roofer sales pitch that you usually hear and the roofing repair vs. the roofing replacement costs were laid out clearly. We did see that Skywalker Roofing came in slightly higher for their replacement services, but I was impressed with them because the previous roof repair contractors did a horrible job, and these were the only roofing specialists that were ready to touch the roof without asking for a complete replacement. When their crew came by, it took them two days for the roof repair; yes money was tight so we could only go for shingle repair. This was back in two of the consecutively hottest days in September and they made sure we inspected the roof thoroughly before they left. They did clear the repair site of the dust, wood shavings, nails and even brought a gigantic magnet to clear the area. Luke, the owner called us up after two days and offered us free inspection. New roof for house and horse barn. Problems with my existing roof were, black algae, fungus, water leaks at the roof flashing and from the vents through the roof. 3 estimates later, I hired Skywalker Roofing. Skywalker had the lowest quote, so like any homeowner they got the job and it turned out it was the best value. All my questions were answered and Skywalker did what they said they would do. Everyone at Skywalker was on the same page in the game plan. I was told by Rodney what Skywalker would do. Christy and Wendy in the office kept me informed of what was going on. Jake and his crew carried out exactly what Rodney said they would do. Professional, polite, caring and an old fashion sense of attention to detail that is missing with a lot of work done today by other contractors. I only wish that other contractors in other trades would do their job the way Skywalker does. As a point of information, on one of my estimates the roofing contractor wanted to reuse the old flashing which was the worst problem with both roofs. Skywalker replaced it all. The other estimate was $10,000.00 more than Skywalker. With all that said, if I ever need another roof, Skywalker would get the job without a question. Thank you. read more

Awesome. Absolutely the best. From coming out to give estimate...showing me video of roof and explaining all problems...scheduling the job...delivering supplies...informing me of any aditional unforseen needed repairs...suggesting someone reliable to do necessary woodwork...completing the job in an amazing time in sweltering heat...the guys who came out to do the work were pleasant, polite, and some of the hardest workers I have ever seen. It is obvious that Skywalker is a great place to work and that they treat their workers with utmost respect . The girls in the office, of which I have spoken to several times, were always polite and most helpful on the phone and when I visited in person. My roof looks great ! I am so excited and thankful for each one of them who had a part in being here to replace my roof. It is obvious that they work as a team...a great team...a winning team. Out of all the contractors that I have ever done business with Skywalker was one of the best if not the best contractor I have ever worked with regarding home repairs. The owner of the company personally came out to my house and made a very professional thorough presentation (video) which showed every aspect of their company and previous roofing work they have done. My experience with their roofing crew was truly amazing in that their crew worked in 90 plus degree temperatures and worked from early morning to before sundown each day to get my job done. I was impressed at how the crew protected my shrubs/landscaping with coverings and how they cleaned up each day. I would highly recommend this company if you need a roof. From the very first call to the end result the experience was wonderful. The sales rep was very informative and kind giving me information to make an informed decision. Very relaxed sales call no high pressure sales tactics - he was there to help me and was very patient answering questions. When reviewing my roof he even cleaned out my gutters that needed attention. We recently had our entire roof replaced by Skywalker Roofing. I had contacted several companies in our area for estimates and was unhappy with the level of unprofessionalism displayed by their representatives who should have wanted my money. My final call was to Skywalker Roofing. I scheduled an appointment to get an estimate. On the day of the appointment, Ted W. arrived at my home on time and prepared. Ted spent the next two hours inspecting my roof, explaining the storm damage and going over options for replacement. When Ted W. arrived at my home, my worries about the entire process left. We called in July, 2014, for an estimate and they were there within a week. Complete explanation of the job was given to us. We advised we would call in the fall and schedule an appointment. We called in October and within a week they were out for the final measurements. On Friday, October 24th we were called and told they would be out on Monday, 10/27/2014 around 7:30 a.m. At exactly 7:30 the caravan of Skywalker trucks came down our drive way! They removed the old roof, made what repairs were necessary, replaced the roof with a new metal roof and cleaned up all the debris and had the job completed by 7:15 p.m. that evening. We are very pleased with the results. The roof looks amazing. The workers were very professional. We could not have asked for a better experience! The crew arrived when they said they would, took great care to protect the landscaping as they were removing and replacing the roof, they cleaned up to the point where the property looked as it did when they found it only this time a beautiful roof was left! We had our Roof replaced today and it looks amazing. The entire 7 crew worked hard and knew what to do, worked together so well, very neat and clean. The crew was very respectful of house, yard, flower beds, etc. and laid plastic down all around house and no mess at all. we was very impressed on their service and work they done. The skywalker way of fixing / installing chimney flashing is much better than most other companies do. Skywalker go over and beyond to make sure your roof will not leak. BJ was so kind to come out make sure everything is going as planned and after the roof was completed he inspected roof just to make sure also. Brad and BJ definitely know what you need and take care of. Both was very nice to work with. If we had to do again we would call Brad with Skywalker Roofing and ask for BJ 's crew to do the job. read more

We highly recommend Sywalker Roofing. Our experience with this company from the day Jeff Slaughter came out to assess our damage and give a fair estimate, was positive. Which is certainly not the case with several roofing companies we had contacted before Sywalker. Bill Kirby and Temo Mendoza were prompt and courteous on the day scheduled to do our repairs. We were pleased with the expertise, knowledge and years of experience both had. Upon completion of repairs Bill went over what was repaired to make sure I was satisfied before they left. Jeff, Representative for Skywalker gave us an estimate and provided many samples for us to make selection. He also told us of roofs in our area to look at to get a visual of what our selection would look like on our house. He was courteous and knowledgeable. The workmen were prompt and professional. The roof was finished and old shingles removed. They swept the yard with magnetic devices to pick up any stray nails. We were well satisfied with the price. We were and are extremely happy with the quality of workmanship and professionalism of each employee we came in contact with. We would absolutely recommend them. We have a rental house that requires a roof and Skywalker will soon be getting another call from us. read more

I had Luke Skywalker put on my roof and new all metal gutter guards. All of this was done in 2 days from start to finish. Had owens corning 130 mph artichtectial shingles put on with the 50 year warrenty. Also had my utility building done. They were very professional and done a great job it looks good and everything was cleaned up after the job was done I found no nails or anything in the yard. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone. Also had him come back out to check my insulation in the attic and he said I didn't need to add any so he is a very trust worthy guy most people probably would have told you that you needed more insulation blowed in.
