It was a terrible day because the door was smashed so badly it wouldn't open, and the rear door wouldn't open either. I chatted with some friends to see where they'd had collision work done, and the first place I called told me it would take months to fix. Another friend mentioned Autobody Specialties, so I decided to give them a try. To my surprise, they said they could get it done in a couple of weeks, depending on shipping. After that, I just confirmed with my insurance company where I was getting the work done, and ten days later, the car was ready. Of course, when I drove, I noticed another part wasn't working right, which I hadn't noticed in the original repairs. But they took it in and replaced the part with one they had in stock in just a few hours. They also updated the repair estimate with my insurance company for no extra cost to me. Also after a battery replacement all the dash lights including the check engine light came on and stayed on. Smelled warm as well. They found out they compressor was fried (my words) and the freon was empty. They found out that a recall done in 21 would have required the dealership to empty the freon and it was unlikely that the freon would have dispated over 5 years when there are no leaks detected. Thanks to them I took the car to the dealership and they fortunately stepped up and replaced the air compressor. They could have just charged to replace the compressor and been done. They didn't even charge for the time it took to figure it out and then delivered the car back to my mom after they made sure everything checked out. All it cost was some pizza delivery.
