I called and chatted with Dan who assured me it wouldn't need much based on Hyundai's published $60K service list. In the end, it was about $110. He checked her brakes and said they were in great shape and definitely didn't need his $450 per axle brake replacement service. She had previously been told her brakes were dangerously bad and needed urgent replacement. Dan could easily have told me her brakes needed replacing and made $450-900. Just moved into town from Hawai'i, and brought my truck in for an oil change and trans flush service after driving it up from the dock in Oakland, Ca. He got it done quickly and within a VERY reasonable price too! Transparent and upfront with pricing during an over the phone consultation. Will definitely be coming back to have more work done on the truck as well as my other vehicles. Normally from my previous experience, it's a crap shoot whether you get a decent and/or reputable service from yelp so I decided to take a chance on Dan's service given the more positive reviews on here. I almost hesitate to make this 2nd review because I would love to keep this business to myself! Dan is truly one of a kind in the auto repair business. I started having some really bad sounds coming from the steering of the Kia Soul (2010) that I purchased a few months ago. Dan got me in really quick, & I was prepared for a big repair. Dan was recommended by a colleague at UO so I reached out to him to replace a belt and inspect my old Toyota for an odd noise coming from the engine. He accommodated my work schedule to see me on a Saturday, fixed the car beautifully, and also repaired the door (for free!) that wouldn't open fully due to a dent on the driver's side that was a gift of the 2024 ice storm when someone drove into my parked car on the street. Just as the skies opened up on Nov 10, my truck wouldn't start. Spent 4 hrs in the rain determining it wasn't the battery or solenoid. It had to be the starter. Called DC the next morning, explained I was in the middle of a move. He squeezed me in, replaced the starter at an exceptionally inexpensive price and had me back on the road in under an hour. Daniel got me in to deal with my oil leak within 2 days. He looked at the car immediately upon my arrival and had the problem scoped out within 10 minutes. He then ordered the part and scheduled the appointment for the work to be completed. Dan is so pleasant to work with! I gave him a call after seeing so many positive reviews and having had another mechanic put me off. When my truck was running rough and struggling when accelerating, Dan serviced my fuel injectors which had been replaced recently with used parts and fixed me right up. The issue I was having had stumped another shop for 2+ weeks and I almost paid to cross my fingers and hope that a new fuel pump would solve my problems, so glad I took his advice on something that ended up being fixed with simple maintenance! We are new to the area and were leery, not knowing who we could trust. Found DC Auto Repair through Yelp, and we could not be happier. Daniel was very quick to get back to us with an estimate, which was more than $150 below 2 other shops we'd been given estimates from. He also got us in very quickly, and not only did he hit his estimate, our bill was some $30 LESS than his original quote! He was so extremely nice, communicated everything we needed to know very clearly, and when you speak with him you can utterly tell that this is someone you can trust - he's so honest and full of integrity. My fiance and I took both our cars to DC Automative. In total we pre-paid over $2300.00 and on both of our cars by myself. On our first car that we took in which was a 94 Ford ranger pickup he put the brakes on to where the caliber fell out it was too loose and my fiance noticed it immediately and then fixed the problem. We called DC Auto and explain what happened to him. At this point my car was already in DC autos lot to be worked on waiting to be worked on, and in it was a brand new clutch and flywheel that my fiance and I had ordered off amazon. When TC Auto worked on my car they said there was no clutch or flywheel in the back seat and had to order a new one of each and which up the price from $500 to 685 and did the work. By the way I prepaid for all of this pretty much before he even got finished. Upon retrieving the car after DC Auto said it was ready to be picked up they stated that there was a seal that still needed to be put on the transmission that they had ordered and when it got in which it should be a couple days they would give me a call and put it on. I did not hear from them and called them twice and to this day they have not ever put the seal on. What concern me more than that was when the engine was mounted DC Auto did not tighten the bolts which means it could have fell out at any time which could have killed us. I paid a good $2,300 for both of these cars to be fixed and I am not asking anything more than DC Auto to simply do its job and not to put my life or anyone else's life in danger when we are on the road in our cars. What I do appreciate is that DC Auto has contacted me and is trying to make this right by fixing the problems that have a rose or from the original work that they had done on it.
