Do they have anything else on the menu... BEATS ME. I always get the poutine. Basic, saucy, DELICIOUS!!! The fries are great, the gravy is good and they use cheese curds... pretty hard to mess it us if you have the right ingredients! Portions are good and as much as a large seems like a great idea at 3 in the morning, a small is usually quite enough. If you're looking for a great late night, down to basics poutine, get in line! We went for the poutine and ended up falling in love with the burgers! The poutine was very good, with what I am sure were hand cut fries, real cheese curds, and a deliciously salty mushroom gravy. Went here last night for a late night snack (my first time) - I've tried to before but their hours are strange. I had a regular poutine and it was awesome - I held off from getting anything fancy, as I wanted to compare this poutine to Smokes, across the street. I honestly found Willy's poutine to be a lot better - the fries were crispy, the cheese (not sure if they were curds or provolone) was awesome, and the gravy was great. Definitely recommend trying Willy's if you're up late, or like poutine at all. I will be back to try the other menu items, all of which sounded tasty. read more

Willy's was my first taste of poutine. I regret doing that, now, because I'm fairly certain I found the zenith on my first try. I'm skeptical that any other restaurant will be able to compare and I don't want to open myself up for disappointment. Willy's isn't exactly the epitome of fine dining, in fact it doesn't even come close. The cool thing about Willy's is that what it does, it does well. Especially during the wee hours of the morning, Willy's provides great service and good greasy post-bar food for cheap. This is a great spot to visit if you are a college kid on a limited budget looking for a quick bite after the bar closes. Willy's Philly cheese steak sub is a hot commodity in Halifax and it is the major draw of this little shop. Willy's is the place we go for the burger now when downtown. We chose to grab and go from here, sometimes it can be very busy and noisy. We also grabbed one of the Philly steak sandwiches, which i can say was excellent. The burger was tops as well. This is a great spot to catch a quick bite and not break the bank. read more

Most definitely the best poutine I've had. I recently was in Quebec twice and theirs definitely is nothing compared to Willys! In Montreal most places didn't even offer it and the street vendors downtown it looked too complicated. I rarely make it all the way up the hill to pizza corner because of Willy's. Willy's has the best poutine in the city. Yes, better than its cross-street neighbour Smokes. It's super affordable and super tasty. The fries are nice and crispy, but doesn't feel like you're only eating crust. Also the cheese is actual cheese curds. None of this mozza garbage that people try to call poutine. Unfortunately during burger week, I discovered Willy's has more than just great poutine. Unfortunate because now I'll have to make a decision on late night stops. The burger they had on special came with an Oulton's beef patty, cheese, bacon and beer battered jalapeños and onion rings. It was a monstrous burger, very filling without requiring any fries or another side. The battered jalapeños was something I had never had on a burger and they certainly added some excitement. The only downside to Willy's is the fact there isn't really anywhere to sit down. Not really an issue if you're drunkenly wandering around on a nice night. But if the weather is cold or wet (that never happens in Halifax though right?), you'll have to head home or somewhere else to enjoy your food. read more

We came to get a late night snack and couldn't even order successfully without the interruption of men's comments behind us, we complained and no steps were taken by the staff of Willy's to aide other women and ourselves, we are two new brides on our honeymoon in Halifax and have had the worst experience here in Halifax with our worst experience being the treatment after dinner with friends at Willy's. We spoke out on our own behalf and of other women ordering food too in an attempt to help ourselves and others and help was not received when men threatened to "punch" and "beat" my new wife. It might have been that we went during the Friday night bar scene in Halifax, but the food was nothing special and nothing bad. The cheese in the poutine were curds with a hint of Mozzarella flavour. I don't think that they were authentic. The french fries were nice and fresh with a regular dark gravy rather than a traditional gravy. The Bacon Cheese Burger was again good but nothing special. Just your standard sloppy beef in a bun. I would recommend this location if you have a hunger fix, not if your looking for anything out of the ordinary. read more

Very, very solid poutine with solid portions for decent prices. Extra toppings on poutine can get pretty pricey. Vegan gravy is a huge plus for everyone that's a vegetarian. I devoured my burger week burger so fast it couldn't be captured in a photo. The burger was full of flavour but not too fussy. The Sriracha and beer rings gave it some originality. I am in love with the garlic, dill mayo. I'd ask it to marry me if I believed in polygamy. This was only my second visit to Willy's but I am inspired to try them more frequently. My burger came out sizzling hot and quite quickly after I ordered. All of only $5. I paid twice as much for poor burger pretenders. Can these guys move to Bayer's Lake so I can go here all the time? It uses real cheese curds, the gravy is great, fries taste awesome, and the best part: you can choose a boatload of ingredients to add on. These include steak, chicken, and stuffing, Because I am a disgusting human being with no shame I once decided to get a large sized poutine with every available topping. Pros: the walk home at 2 am was awesome. Cons: the next day was messy in the bathroom to say the least. The service seems nice but im drunk when I eat there so maybe im just happy. There's no where to sit down but nearby theres steps and a ledge down the street where you can belligerently hit on the opposite (or same!) sex while eating your poutine. I've only had Willy's once but I was pretty impressed with the quality and portion of the poutine. I ordered an original poutine, smothered in gravy and cheese curds. While it is delicious, the gravy tasted somewhat average to me and you can't really go wrong with cheese curds. I ordered a large to share with someone, and trust me, it was more than enough! I'm sure if I happen to be hungry and near that area, I'd consider going to Willy's, but I doubt I'd travel there just for their poutine. Overall, I think their poutine is good and if you haven't tried it, give it a shot. read more

I'm not gonna lie, I consider myself a bit of a poutine connoisseur being that it's my favorite food. Perhaps not the most sophisticated tastes but I am 100% okay with it. As a self proclaimed connoisseur I have to say, Willy's has the, Best. Poutine. Ever. The cheese curds are perfectly suited to the fresh cut fries and the gravy is perfect for poutine. And the price is pretty darn good too. All in all, Amazing. I enjoyed the delicious home style fries with vegetarian gravy and cheese curds. There could have been a bit more gravy (not quite enough for all the fries and to heat the cheese). The fries were just like that of a burger bus style and cooked perfectly. I think they could look/be a bit cleaner. The appearance of the establishment is not appetizing. The burger was a greasy work of perfection. I now have two good burger choices downtown. The simpler but much smaller chickenburger burgers or this much more robust but slightly more expensive ($6 with cheese) burger. The guy making it was friendly, the burger was ready in a flash, and I don't think anything could have been improved upon. You might wonder why I gave a burger hole in the wall 5 stars. It's not like you'll have your 60th wedding anniversary here but it vastly exceeded expectations for a burger joint. Will be back to try the other few things on the menu. read more

One of the best poutine I've had comes from here. Problem is, their hours. Went out to get poutine for lunch and found it closed regardless of the hours they posted at the door. Kind of hard to go out for lunch and hope that the store is open. So that it is understood- this is not a restaurant style service.
