Great brunch spot, we waited in a long line, but it was worth the wait. It's very cutesy inside and they sell their own apparel too. I ordered the smoked salmon on potato waffle. This dish was very good. My husband ordered the avocado toast which was very large with two pieces of toast. We shared a Belgian waffle with our friends that was also good. To drink, I enjoyed their regular black coffee. I'd highly recommend this place and would definitely come back. read more

My wife and I met my mother-in-law and two of our nieces for lunch here while we were all in the area, and Cheeky Neighbour did not disappoint! I ordered the Bibim-not, and it was a delicious interpretation of the classic Korean rice bowl! A thick disc of crispy rice served as the base, and added more texture and flavour than the standard steamed rice. Slices of pork belly were crisp and unctuous, while sunny-side-up eggs and hoisin (?) sauce added more layers of umami richness. Brighter flavours from the cucumber, carrot, daikon and micro greens balanced out the dish, and some dabs of chili crisp brought some heat. My wife's kale Caesar was a hefty one, with plenty of the fibrous leaves in rich Caesar dressing, and the house-made fried chicken took this salad's game up a notch or two. My MIL's breakfast skillet was a great deal, with the hearty plate heaped with hash browns, kale, tomato, cheese, eggs and a lemon-forward hollandaise. The kids' meals were just as well executed as the adults', albeit less chef-y to accommodate the disappointing taste buds of Canadian kids. The portion sizes were also really good. Service was laidback, knowledgeable and spot-on. As my wife and I make moves to get back to Halifax in the near future, I'm eager to have neighbours like this Cheeky one. read more

And we did go there. 45 mins wait. They do not take reservations nor wait list. The old stand in line for your turn. Clean restaurant with friendly staff. So many delicious mouth watering items on menu. We settled on the The small breakfast w 2 eggs, toast n sausage, the classic w soft scrambled eggs, avocado n home fries , the pork belly breakfast sandwich, bibim not. The small breakfast was the usual w sausage that tasted so good. The pork belly sandwich was different but tasted so good. The beet was the bibim not was the best. Tasted so good w the crispy rice carrots, cucumber n the moist crunch pork belly. The seasoning/ sauce was so good. This was one of the best breakfasts I've eaten. Just the right portions. So fresh and each bite full of incredible flavours and each member of my party thoroughly enjoyed their choices as well. Not to be arrogant, but I think I come from the best breakfast city (Austin, Texas) in the U.S., so I'm a hard breakfast eater to please when I travel. I have enjoyed a good number of breakfasts in Nova Scotia, and Cheeky Neighbor is head and shoulders above all the rest of the places I sampled. Cheeky Neighbor not only dishes up amazingly tasty and unusual food, but it has a bunch of other good things going for it too: great neighborhood vibe, NO reservations accepted, congenial wait staff and...wait for it....excellent prices! The Cheeky Neighbour is our local brunch joint in Halifax, and honestly, we don't go to it enough. That's probably a good thing, because the chicken and waffles is dangerously delicious. The vibe is in-between a greasy spoon diner (in the absolute best way) and a cool hipster brunch spot. You can get bennies and breakfast burritos, and a lot of the dishes come with these GORGEOUS hash browns (or home fries, whatever you want to call them) that have sweet potato and onion dotted amongst the spuds; you can also get mimosas and beer. For breakfast. Heck yeah. The service merits a shout out too, almost entirely for the fact that we ordered mimosas for my partner's birthday and they said they were on the house! Not just his - all of them! My birthday is like 4 months away! I deserve no free mimosa!!!! Anywayyyy, get the chicken and waffles. Or any of the bennies. We went with high expectation after seeing the reviews. Our Waiter seemed to has an issue with us, we ordered. He forgot our order twice, we offered to pay for our coffees and got elsewhere. Other waitress said "He's like this with some folks" and comp'd our coffees. read more

Have been here six times since they opened and always enjoy it, but more for breakfast. This past weekend had a special that I had seen the day before on their Instagram - pancakes done up to look like the Simpson's donut! So pretty and fun! And it actually tasted good, where I could taste condensed milk in the icing so it was sweet, but not too sweet. Felt a bit like hell afterwards, but that's to be expected when you are basically having what is the same as an entire cake as a meal. LOL Staff are always friendly. This was the first time that I had arrived after 10am on a Saturday and I got the last table available without a wait. There was a line up people after me almost immediately though. I went here for a friends birthday brunch because I was so excited about the chicken and waffles. I know they're a new business so I don't want to hate on them too much but the food was a little bit disappointing :( Portion sizes were not consistent. I got a little nub of chicken which still was not very good while my friend got 2 larger pieces. The hash was very burnt on the bottom as well and not tasty. I would like to come back and try it again and hope it's had time to improve. Service lacked as well, no one checked on us throughout our meal or asked how things were. read more

the coolest interior, short and sweet menu and loved the options for vegans/ vegetarians!! It's not everyday that I can walk into a restaurant and not be restricted to the salads as the only veggie meal option. I love their classic diner feel, no lattes or anything, just great comfort food. Great food....but make sure you are not seated out back by the two toilets. It was our first time here and we had no idea about the tables right next to the rest rooms in the back. You are eating a foot away from where people are using the toilet. It's not the best place for a table. If you ask to sit out front you won't have any issues. read more

We went in for a late breakfast today with no idea what to expect, and we were absolutely blown away. I had the potato waffle with smoked salmon from the breakfast menu and it was incredible.
