This place is absolutely wonderful! A very quiet and quaint place on the water that has a relaxing atmosphere. I'm so glad I elected not to stay at a big name hotel, instead supporting Susan and Tom's little piece of paradise. They are very delightful people to talk to and have a lot to offer about local things to do. Mount Blue state park is very close and offers beautiful views. The Rangeley lakes area is also quite close, also offering great views/trails. I was going to be a passerby but ended up staying longer with many other things to do followed by returning to this lovely little Inn. Would recommend staying a few nights. I'll upload a couple pics of the property's front drive, rear courtyard, and down by the lake.

This place is as charming as all get out! During a long-distance motorcycle trip we were faced with a storm in the direction we were going which we wanted to avoid. We had to make a snap decision and find a place nearby and fast. We took a look at Yelp and this place was the closet and out of the path of the storm we were trying to escape. We called to ask if they had two rooms open and we told to come right in, don't worry about giving a credit card, "we'll be expecting you..." How warm and friendly is that??? Sometimes things just work out perfectly! This place is set on private property and the owners live in a house situated next to the motel. The grounds are well kept and beautifully landscaped, the breakfast consists of local bakery good, cereal, yoghurt and such. The rooms are clean and adorable. Behind the motel there is a huge yard with horse shoes, picnic tables, lounge chairs and such. Also, a crystal clear, stone-bottomed lake with a fishing dock, canoes and kayaks. Also, the light pollution is so low that the stars were glittering across the sky brilliantly. The next morning we decided to take a break from pounding pavement on the motos and took the opportunity to do a little rowing on the water. It was nice to give our bodies a little exercise after being on the bikes for so long. We already have plans to make it back here. Going to make this our home base and go out exploring Maine on the motorcycle.

This hotel is just a hidden gem. We were traveling without any prior reservation. After finding the place we decided to stay the night. We were lucky that we found a very nice room. It was the best place, among the hotels that we stayed during our trip. The price is not that high comparing the prices of other hotels.,The rooms are big facing the beautiful garden, the atmosphere is enormous with the beautiful garden, lake. You can also use the kayaka free of charge on the lake. We spent one night and everything was perfect, the rooms, friendly and kind staff, the breakfast ... The most beautiful thing is the sound of silence that you find in the place. The lake view is so calm, peaceful and gorgeous. Very good place for relaxing. Also I saw from the ads that wedding can be organized in its beautiful big garden, which I presume would be awesome...

Stayed here in June as we passed through the area on the Trek Across Maine. What a wonderful place! The rooms are VERY clean and comfortable, and the location is pristine. The beautiful landscaping and lawns make me jealous. The property is situated right on Wilson Lake so swimming, kayaking and hanging out to watch the sunset are all right here. Above all, the innkeepers and their staff can't be beat! Helpful, friendly and accommodating, this family-owned motel staff will make you happy you bypassed the chain hotels! A bit off the beaten path but well, well worth it! I now understand why so many Trek Across Maine riders rave about this place and return year after year.

    Peaceful morning kayak ride.

Quiet inn on a pretty lake. The rooms were very clean, the beds comfortable and the staff very nice! The coffee-muffins-fruit oatmeal and cereal in the morning were a nice treat. Free use of kayaks, paddle boat and a row boat. I would defiantly stay here again.

I stayed here for a week on my trip to Maine visiting extended family. I was very glad I did. The room I stayed in was inexpensive and cozy, the maid staff did a very good job keeping it clean. The continental breakfast was good, with great baked muffins/breakfast cakes from a local bakery. As the name implies, the Inn is right on the water and has a small dock on the lake. You can swim, kayak, canoe or take out the paddle boat on the lake. There are nice gardens out front and in back of the inn, with adirondack chairs and benches to sit and enjoy the scenery. Crystal is a very nice owner, and makes you feel welcome. Wilton is not too far away, and you can walk right into town. When I come back to Maine on vacation, I will definitely stay there again.

After a superb trip to Saddleback three years ago, we decided to make another trip to Saddleback. We stayed about an hour away in the beautiful town of Andover, and came up early enough to make first tracks. Three years ago, the Resort had almost just opened up again after many years of being idle. This time, it had matured into an even better place, with a fantastic group of ambassadors greeting the guests at the resort entrance and being present on the mountain trails to answer questions, a wonderful staff that made our stay quite pleasant, great food, service, and most of all, superb conditions, grooming, and ski operations. Mother Nature had contributed copious amounts of snow before our arrival, and the conditions were awesome. Glades, steeps, groomers, it was all absolutely fantastic. We skied the very steep Tight Line several times, and many of our family members enjoyed the challenging tree-line skiing available at the resort. The outstanding food and drinks available at the Nest restaurant in mid mountain gave us a welcome break in our skiing day. We will definitely be back. This is a gem of a place in the entire nation.

The venue itself is about 2,000+ feet up on Saddleback Mountain and the view from the lawn is breathtaking. The lawn seats (byo blanket or chairs) are on a gentle slope which allows for great views of the performers and the mountains. The weather on this particular July evening was perfect, low humidity, a cool breeze, and the sun was shining on the lawn for almost the entire performance. The show itself was terrific. There were a few problems with this venue which started with the ticket purchasing process. They insist on capturing too much personal information: the usual name, address, credit card of the person buying the tickets, but also the names and dates of birth of every person in the party. I called to ask about this and the woman on the phone assured me that our info was safe in their "secure system". This, just on the heels of the Ticketmaster breach. She told me I could either put our dates of birth in or buy tickets at the mountain on the day of the show. The other big problem was the food. Doors opened at 4:30, the show was 5:00 - 8:00. Understandably they have a no outside food and drink policy, so I assume most people plan to buy dinner there. We were very disappointed by the food menu--the only non meat item was the "walking taco"--an actual bag of Doritos with beans dumped in--not an option for someone who can't have dairy, etc. When the show ended (again, it was fantastic) all of the restaurants in Rangeley had closed, so we ended up getting dinner at the IGA. There are several more shows in this series, I hope in the future Saddleback will consider all of its guests when planning the menus for the remaining summer musical performances. Alternatively, eat before you go!

After searching for dog friendly places in the New England area for a couple of hours we finally stumbled upon Pressey House in Oakland, ME on Airbnb. Neither of us had ever heard of the town but a quiet Bed & Breakfast on a lake sounded good to us. A few nights later we made the 3 hour drive to Oakland, ME where we checked into the Granite Suite. Originally we were a little dubious because the walls of the suite are described as being the original foundation of the home from 1850 so we were afraid that it might feel like we were in a dark, damp cave but when our Host, Nikki, showed us to where we were going to be staying nothing could have been further from the truth. Although all the of the walls were either granite or brick, the front of the suite was bright with natural light thanks to the window and door and the back of the suite with the comfy, King sized bed had a cozy feel to it. There are a couple of cool little brick arches in the suite that are a unique architectural feature. The bathroom was surprisingly roomy which you don't always find at a B&B and even though there is no bathtub the shower stall had excellent water pressure and didn't feel cramped . The suite also had a pretty good size kitchenette which was really handy to have the two nights we were there. My favorite feature though was the gas fireplace. Each night my fiancé and I spent hours in front of it playing cards and relaxing. It was especially welcome since it snowed while we were there, and nothing is better than coming in from the cold and warming up in front of the fire. There is WiFi available and our signal was strong enough that we experienced no internet issues on our phones and tablets. There is a main common area that was split into two sections: The front section which has a sitting area in front of a wood burning fireplace and the back section which overlooks the lake and functions as a dining space. The quintessential New England feel of the room is warm, inviting and really makes you think of the long history of the home. Although we were the only ones having breakfast each morning in the common area because everyone else was a long term rental, Nikki made sure that she still pulled out all the stops for us. One morning we had fruit salad, cinnamon rolls, homemade frittata, and sausage and then the next day we feasted on fruit salad, pancakes and homemade corned beef hash. The first night that we arrived Nikki had left homemade cookies in our room. The following day at breakfast she got some ideas of what kind of desserts we liked and we came back from a day exploring the area to some homemade strawberry thumbprint cookies in our room (which my fiancé LOVED). So, saying that Nikki is a good cook, who will feed you well feels like an understatement. Our most favorite part of the Pressey House though was Nikki, her husband Ron and their family (pups included). They were extremely friendly, professional, accommodating in every way and it's clear that they want every guest to have an amazing experience when you stay with them. From chatting with Nikki & Ron we learned that they have just recently purchased the inn and have some big plans for it. We can say with certainty that we will be going back for another visit and we look forward to seeing any improvements that they make since it will make an already fabulous B&B even better. We're also looking forward to getting to see the gorgeous lake that Pressey House sits on during the summertime.

Waking up on that gorgeous lake in the warm summer, the kids running, jumping, kayaking, playing instead of being on their electronics was an incredible feeling. Supposedly because, as they said, I left a lot of trash in the room. I had a small family birthday party for my son and cleaned up the room, even bringing my own trash bags to do so. I was puzzled & assumed it was a mistake so I reached out to management and received an email back saying that I had taken advantage of their no locals policy. Apparently they don't rent rooms to locals, but bent the rules for me, unbeknownst to me. No one EVER told me that this was a policy. If it was a policy, to not rent locals, then why in the world would they have rented to me? The whole situation is just bizarre. I've spent a lot of money at this hotel over the years and this is the thanks I get. So if you're local I guess you're not allowed to stay at this hotel, but they probably won't tell you that and may rent to you anyway. ?? Warning to locals- you're not allowed here, or maybe you are, or maybe sometimes? Great management. Thanks Fireside. Very nice. I cleaned that room thoroughly when I left, as I always do. If you're local they'll turn on you I guess. I'm still just stunned by this. I never had any issues in all the years I've stayed here, ever. No warnings, no complaints, no mention of not being allowed here. Nada. This is just rotten.

I spoke to the head of housekeeping (Eric Carpenter) who assured me this would be dealt with.. He offered to give me an upgraded room for the rest of the year, 2025, anytime I came by with assured DEEP cleanliness to it & was also assured this would be noted in my profile whenever I personally made a reservation.. Which was a lie. The past 2/3 times I have showed up to this particular hotel since this incident, there has been some sort of alleged "issue" which resulted in the front desk employees basically DOWNGRADING my room or giving me a room that has quality issues (photos will also be attached). YESTERDAY (10/2/2025) I booked online, as I always do and when I got to this hotel the front desk manager (David Connolly) told me I had been put on the "do not rent" list due to "smoking in the room" and "paint bubbling from hot water damage in the bathroom"... I am 6 months pregnant... NEED I MENTION I do not smoke nor do I ever in life need to be in BOILING water... Basically they were finding any reason to get out of owning up to what their housekeepers either left or didn't do a good enough job of cleaning up.. I am utterly upset due to the fact that nobody has done anything to accommodate or help the fact that this is happening. I have called the head manager of it all, (Katy Kelly) and haven't received a call back which is what prompted me to make this review. The photos attached is what I've been dealing with since I've booked here.. so if you have kids, do not book here, if you care about your safety, do not book here, and if you care about cleanliness and hospitality do not book here because the employees definitely lack that.
