We had to wait for the dynamic husband and wife duo to help loyal customers who were coming back for "the usual" or trying something different "this week" and knew immediately how integral they were to this community! Later when trying to decide, the owner told us how he grew up there, wanted to be out of this woods so badly as a young man but never got to leave, and ended up sticking around - running this store for 30 yrs and how happy he was with family and a nice property with fields and stuff! It was really loaded, maybe too loaded with ham that I felt the flavor was a bit skewed towards being too heavy. They were too generous! I had to have the pastrami on rye with swiss and horseradish sauce and the man asked, "you want bacon?" to which I obviously couldn't refuse! It took a bit long and the lady told me that she threw away the first toasted rye cuz she wasn't happy with how it was over toasted... much appreciated because when I bit into that gorgeous thing, I was in heaven. Pastrami wasn't too salty and had a great taste, buffered by refreshing horseradish sauce, accented by occasional bits of really crispy bacon. My wife stole a few bites of mine. Overall, other than sandwiches, the store offers usual fare of drinks, they have some beers, some baked goods and other usual packaged essentials but sandwich is their main game!
