My husband and I got married about a year ago and this was our first apartment together and I cannot rave enough about how much we loved it!! Casey was the most welcoming person and made sure that we had everything we needed and always stopped to say hello when were walking around the complex. Maintenance would come immediately if there were any issues that needed to be fixed/replaced and the apartments were kept in really great shape. To be honest, we really wanted to stay, it was just expensive and out of our price range of what we wanted to pay so we decided to move. Not only will you go to great lengths to accommodate your clients, your personal approach and heart felt genuinity was exactly what I needed in my search for a new home. Unfortunately, due to personal circumstances, moving had to be postponed, but after having the pleasure of meeting you, there is not another place I would even consider moving to. 0 stars. NIGHTMARE CONSTRUCTION on Fairview & 405 overpass until 2023. All day and night the construction noise going on. Building vibrates all night long making it IMPOSSIBLE to sleep. All the neighbors complain about it when you see them. The construction is set to last until 2023 which likely means 2025. You will get no rest. Jack hammering, pounding of steel beams into the ground, and construction noise starts at 7:00 am. Traffic to get "home" is a nightmare coming off the 405 and 55 and the exits are closed quite often. All the possible routes to get there are jammed because drivers know to take alternate routes to avoid the exit ramps which are reduced lanes to accommodate the construction. This is what nightmares are made of. To add insult to injury, the "Management" decides at the most inopportune times to pick and choose unnecessary construction projects around the complex that are not needed, mostly during holiday weekends. Examples of this: hot tub completely resurfaced during July 4th weekend (did not work for over 2 months), tearing up sidewalks/walkways outside of the pool area over Labor Day weekend and taking up 3-4 parking spaces with the torn out concrete. It's absolute insanity. I have posted some photos of the work so you know its real. I can't make this up. "Management" does not care nor do the regional managers respond to emails about escalated issues pertaining to their representatives in the complex "Management". I guess it is just easier not to address difficult converstaions, but then you have to deal with public reviews like this. Pick your poison :) They are really good at showing apartments when there is no construction noise. WARNING: once you sign the lease, there is NO getting out, they make sure of that. No termination clause, not even for moving out of state/job transfer. You either have to find someone to sublease or just keep paying until your lease is up. Suffer through all the construction, noise, and incompetent "management". They also make you come in early to sign your lease before you move in so that your 3 day right of rescission is basically up before you actually move-in/take possession. "Taking possession" is the way that they are able to hold you to the contract terms. Sign, wait until the rescission period is up, then you can take possession, you're now stuck. Very sneaky... They had "work to do" in the apartment so I could not move in until about 2-3 days later. I addressed concerns with complex "management" and was insulted and told "too bad, you already took possession." I then escalated to a regional manager, no response to my calls or emails. Naturally. BUYER BEWARE. Choose somewhere else. However, the ladies that I've interacted with that work in the office are kind and this review does not reflect on them. I moved in on the 1st of July and so far so good. The apartment is beautiful and so far have had no issues. What really made the transition into the apartment was the help I received from Adele. From my first email inquiry, she helped with every question I had and made scheduling the viewing a breeze. Once I was ready to apply for the apartment, she helped me with the application process. I had some trouble with the application process (my own doing) but Adele was able to help me get through it with no problem. She helped me get the promo for the move in special and saved me quite a bit money. I honestly can't say enough great things about Adele and her customer service. I'm a new resident here. The grounds are nice and well kept. Definitely a plus. But that is overshadowed by the lack of care and response by management. Within a week of moving in (9/15), we had a rainstorm and my roof leaked. Over some furniture, but nothing was damaged. The ceiling drywall had a crack and some insulation now poking out. It took 4 or 5 days to get the roofers here to patch the roof. It took another 3 or 4 days to get drywallers over here to patch the drywall. I had to move my furniture as I was instructed the workers wold not. Fair enough, I suppose. It's been 2 weeks now, and despite two requests for painting, nothing has happened. I'm going to (finally) put my furniture back to where it was. I no longer care if the ceiling gets painted. The complex has several laundries. I thought this would be handy, as there are enough to be pretty close no matter which unit you'd be in. And, I didn't have a washer / dryer (the units have hook ups for them). But, the washers and dryers always have "out of order" signs on them. I have gone to do a load and often came back unable to do so. I finally bought a new w/d to install in my unit, but that wasn't an expense I was expecting to have to make. Convenient, yes, but I'd rather not have had to spend that money. Another gripe is that there is a light on the end of the maintenance storage garage that shines pretty directly into my unit. It's blindingly bright. At night, it lights up the inside of my unit such that I have to close my blinds. I actually like to keep mine open, but that's not an option. I've asked several times for some sort of resolution - either a dimmer light or to redirect it a little. Ya, nothing has happened. I was also told I could have a 6 months lease, and would have paid $100 more per month for the less 6 month vs 12 rental period, and I was fine with that. After having made my arrangements, I was told a few days before my move that they wouldn't honor the 6 months, that my lease had to be for a full year. Seemed a bit of a bait and switch. Lastly, I was not allowed to see my unit until my move in day. It's ok, except for the door bell and thermostat being smack dab in the middle of the wall you see when walking in the door, which would have been a perfect spot for a painting I'd really like to hang there. Had I been able to see the unit first, I would have requested, and offered to pay for, moving those off center of the wall. Once they've got your money, the management seems unmotivated to attend to your needs and requests. Shame. Update 10/30/21 Thankfully, and interestingly, the day after I posted this review, Casey the complex manager called offering to get my ceiling painted. That day. She arranged it around my convenience, and in the afternoon Hector and Dennis, two of the guys maintaining the property came in and cleanly and quickly painted the patch in the ceiling. I didn't even have to move the furniture. The issue remains with the light. While they did adjust it enough to stop it from shining directly into my unit, it's still blinding when driving in. It really needs to be replaced with a series of light poles, but I understand that Casey the complex manager doesn't have control over, I'm sure it's a corporate decision on whether to spend the money to correct that. Of course, I'm updating this review because they asked that I do that. I don't mind, they did correct what they could. But, it's still bothersome that I had to write this review in the first place to get their attention. read more

Every apartment complex has its ups and downs, but Wimbledon mostly has ups. Ever since Casey took over, this place has been better than it's ever been before! Maintenance is done quickly when requested, calls were taken as they were made, and Casey even takes the time to know me and my family! I have witnessed this place over the last 10 years and there's a reason I have stayed this long. Thank you Casey for making this an AMAZING place to live! I am sad to be leaving. As a long term resident of Wimbledon Glen, Five Stars are well deserved in my book. Casey, the resident property manager makes you feel welcome with each visit to the office. If you have a problem, she has it taken care of by her trio if excellent maintanance staff. The complex is freeway close and minutes from South Coast Metro and South Coast Plaza. The front office staff is constantly changing and are now some of the rudest people ever. We have been residents for 2 years now and can't wait for our lease to be over. They evicted some crazy resident but she's still able to get on the property and she physically assaulted me for no reason. Property mgmt does not care. The groundskeepers only make the front of the complex look nice. We live near the back and it's a mess. Leaves, sticks, dirt everywhere. The pools are never cleaned. Want to make a noise complaint and have the front office do something about it? Well good luck. Because they don't handle anything. Ever. Also exiting the complex to make a left is a nightmare. Gives me anxiety every time. If you're reading this, go down the street to the other complexes. Trust me. read more

The leasing office Agent Casey pretends to be beyond nice when your touring the place. Once you live there she is unresponsive, deflect the issues ana blames you for what's damaged in your unit. I had literally just moved in February this year and things were falling apart. Look at the dates on the photos. I had to go to the office physically multiple times until she opened the door because she was never there. It's been a nightmare. It's a loud neighborhood, dogs barking, lawn mowers daily at anytime of the day. Now I hear rodantes running between the walls. I've called them multiple times to address this issues and get it inspected and Casey blew me off and said it was probably birds on the roof, she responded saying, "if you're not happy hear,then move!!!" With terrible attitude. It's what and how she says it, she's unprofessional, maybe she's fed up from hearing all the complains so I wonder if she even likes her job. read more

I stayed at a studio unit in Wimbledon Glen for a few months last year and I thought it was a great place to live. The studio is small (around 560 sqft) but the patio in the front is really huge. They have a small closet to the side of the patio where you can hook up your own washer and dryer. If you picked the 1 or 2 bedrooms, the hook up is in the patio in the back of the unit. Also, you'd get one garage space (enough for a compact SUV) and one permit for another parking space. A few reviewers mentioned having to deal with bad neighbors, but thankfully all of my neighbors were very friendly and considerate. However, for some reason, a lot of the residents here smoked like a chimney, especially the older tenants. Before applying, I read a few yelp reviews in 2016 where people said the parking/towing rules were being strictly enforced. But during my time here, a few cars were parking in the same spot for over a week but they never got towed at all. That may be a good or bad thing, depending on your perspective. Oh, if you come home late at night, the parking spaces near the front gates are usually full. And one reason for that could be many residents using their garage space for storage, rather than parking their cars there. As for management and maintenance, they were generally good at their jobs. My requests are usually addressed very quickly (sometimes in the same day), and the managers in the office were very professional and polite. However, it seemed the managers had to rotate to other complexes after a few months, so you would have to get acquainted to new faces now and then. And when I moved out, the process was pretty standard and I got most of my deposit back about 2 months after moving out. Considering everything, I think Wimbledon Glen is a great value in Costa Mesa and would be a good place to live as long as you can put up with some minor annoyances above. read more

Absolutely crawling with hundreds of Chinese birth tourists. Lived here for two years and watched the complex go from being one of the best apartment complexes Ive lived in, to the worst one I've lived in. The management company is basically involved in organized crime. The place has hundreds of pregnant Chinese women rotating in and out of a multitude of apartments. Upon further research they are what's called "Birth Tourists", and what happens is Chinese pregnant women pay large sums of money to a fake shell corporation who rents out apartments at a higher rate than normal residents are willing to pay so that their babies can be born here and get American citizenship. They come here fraudulently on 3 month tourist visas saying they are going to Disneyland. The owners are fully aware of the situation and they are profiting massively from it. When we told the former property managers who were top notch, they decided to call out the owners and were all replaced within days. The new managers are young and clearly they were not hired to provide quality service but to turn a blind eye to crimes the owners are committing. The final straw for us came with the pools and jacuzzi's we found out that birth tourist companies regularly forge vaccination documents to make it easier for their clients to come here. Turns out some of the things that the normal Chinese vaccinations cover is a viral infection that can lead to birth defects in children. So anyone looking to have a family someday beware of the pools. You may see a gate on the property but don't be fooled, because the birth tourist company has duplicated 50 or more of the gate openers to make sure their large support staff which you will see walking around all day and night has access all the time. They actually use the garages to store floor to ceiling diapers, toilet paper and all the other things these unvaccinated pregnant woman might need. I didn't know was legal to operate a hundred plus person business out of apartment but if you live here expect to see and hear them doing so every hour of the day. Because the owners are getting rich off this enterprise and have no intention of stopping till they are in handcuffs, we decided to speed up the process, and filed reports with ICE, Homeland Security, and the Local police, it took awhile to get their attention but they have now assured us that they are taking care of the situation. So maybe in a year or two this place will go back to being a nice place to live but for the time being I would avoid it at all costs!! read more

I have lived here for almost 6 months now and I absolutely love living in this complex. I love the beautiful, park-like landscaping with plenty of trees and beautiful walkways. The maintenance crew is excellent, and any time I've submitted a maintenance request they were at my door the same day to take care of things. From the beginning, Casey Phu has been my contact. The way Wimbledon glen responds is "your name is not on the lease so we're very sorry but we cannot help you at all". It shouldn't matter if your name isn't on the lease if you specify you are living there. By law, a warranty of habitability is an inherent right afforded to tenants regardless of the lease. It is the right of every tenant to have clean and safe rental. here is a ceiling leak, and I live there, the response shouldn't be "Oh we can't talk to you about that, your name isn't on the lease." My boyfriends mothers name is under the lease and Matt - prop manager - is aware as well. We stopped into his office and he turned me away IN PERSON when I had asked if we would be able to spend the night at a hotel because our studio apartment had a hole in the ceiling and it was raining heavily! This place is a scam. For 2,000/month rent for a 550 sf studio, it has antique appliances. Wimbledon glen makes absolutely no repairs to the property to keep it structurally sound. In the end, the lack of maintaining premisses will eventually need them to replace everything from the foundation up. Hope this review is taken into account, because this is truly a nightmare. The only thing that me and my boyfriend are looking forward to is being able to move out in a month from now! All of my neighbors have moved out in my building, even one was evicted because they weren't able to leave so they just left because of how abysmal these living conditions are! I can get a luxury apartment with 2 bedrooms for $500-$800 more per month in any city of California. We will not be providing the leasing office with their monthly payment for their brand new bmw lease any longer after February! Lol. Hopefully others are made aware by this review and avoid being stuck in a lease where they will be responsible to pay no matter how bad it is and how back you want out! These same problems seem to have been occurring since Matt took over and Adele left. Management makes or breaks a community; once more people move out and they start losing money they will get the idea that they need to hire an experienced property manager who has training in customer service. Matt will argue with you about a leak that is caused by lack of maintaining the structure while you are ripped off. He will deflect issues with the property instead of taking account and providing a solution. Eventually he will be exposed and removed once the company loses enough money and tenants. read more

DO NOT LIVE HERE!!!! 0 stars!!! This is the second Arnel property we have lived at. The other one is called South Pointe over by The Lab. South Pointe was an absolute nightmare, so we moved to Wimbledon Glen thinking it would be better. The first year was totally fine under Phyllis' management. We actually resigned for a second year under Phyllis. She was unfortunately replaced by Matt who seems to have zero management experience. We have had our cars broken into at both locations which was little concern to management, although if you have your tv volume up in the middle of the day expect a call from them. The place is infested with rats. Literally if you throw something away at night, run away after because 10+ rats will be coming your way. We have had termites for months and nothing has been done about it. We have also asked that maintenance wait until we are home to enter our home, and they consistently enter without permission. On top of all of this, many of people that live there are typical stuck up OC types. They act like they live in million dollar Newport coast homes. You can pay the same amount and live in an apartment with an ocean view in Huntington, so that's where we're headed! I almost forgot, the garages are shared! Don't be fooled by the garage sizes...they will only allow you to store things in two tiny lockers..... read more

PROS- nice appearance (ONLY) CONS- false advertising (was promised things and not given), pool is always dirty, bugs and spider infested, payment system is RIDICULOUS!!!!! Always sneaking in extra fees! If u ask them to give you a call back they won't unless it's the first to ask about their check! The place is EXTREMELY overpriced! The staff doesn't give a crap about any of their residents! Parking is actually an issue at night people who don't belong their will park in the residential parking and stay overnight, and don't bother calling the towing company cause they are NOT going to do anything about it oh and also! My car now has PERMANENT SPOTS (all over the vehicle) FROM CALCIUM DEPOST FROM THEIR SPRINKLERS!! Living at Wimbledon glen has has affected my life with funds and vehicle issues! The end of my lease is coming up soon, so I inquired to the third manager I think I've seen since I've first signed my lease here. (Yes, the third manager.) I wasn't too surprised when I saw the second manager, because the first group of folks who I was working with at Wimbledon Glen caused some frustrations while I was moving in. My initial thoughts were this place would be great, I didn't research any reviews, but I went there on a whim and they had a great deal for new tenants, so I gave it a shot. After dropping of my deposit and first month's rent, it was agreed I'd be given my keys to begin moving. My moving was pushed back one day because they did not hold this part of the agreement. They tried to make up some lies as an excuse and I caught them, they didn't apologize. Later, I come to find out they didn't replace the latches in my garage storage closet, because they had been previously broken into. Whatever, I figured it must've been a small hiccup. The first management team told me the place was in good shape and had been remodeled a while ago and had new appliances, but I wasn't able to view it because it had been in use. They showed me a similar unit before I signed the lease, but upon moving in, I saw their idea of remodeling was to coat the old counter tops with a heavy coat of white acrylic paint. Oh yay! Looks new...aside from the spots you can tell seeped through the tape and the damaged wood-texture laminates beneath. Still being a pretty clean place, and having somewhat new carpet, I didn't rant about it. Then my dishwasher broke down, twice. My carpet has begun to tear at a few seams and has wrinkles, and my patio is always covered in leaves and crap from the surrounding trees. I didn't mind other tenants, people seem to keep to themselves. There's not much sense of community here, aside from the time I tried to meet the new neighbors whom I share a garage with. Yes, some garages are private, but mine is shared with two other units. Some idiot left the garage door open, so I had about $900+ worth of stuff stolen from my storage area. There isn't any real security nor a sense of security. The "gated" community always has people waiting at the gates to come in and out, people always call my unit from the telecom even though I don't know who the heck they are, but they eventually get in. On top of that, parking is always taken without any permits even though management tells you that you must receive a permit for guests to park. It's an issue because my truck won't fit into my garage, but management said each unit has 2 spots guaranteed. If you get home late though, good luck trying to find a convenient spot. Guest parking is nearly non-existent. People have BBQs on their patios even though I was told they're not allowed, so during the summer you get delicious clouds of smoke flowing through your windows. No pets allowed. Except for the tremendous amounts of dogs people have, the outdoor cats that poop everywhere, and I saw a cute raccoon twice! There's some dude who lives in a garage, or turned his garage into a den (fridge, couch, etc.) so I guess management didn't tell him there's "no storage in the garages" where you're supposed to park your vehicle. Think I also saw a few junkies coming in and out a few times during a drug deal I think. I'm guessing they might've stole my stuff, but the old management didn't seem to care much even though I reported it. Like I said, my lease is coming to an end soon. Not sure whether I'm extending it or not. I'm understanding that not every management office and apartment community could be perfect. The maintenance crew here is great though. Wish I could say the same about management, I just see them when I pay the bill and they've never introduced themselves to me or announced new employees/changes. Very impersonal. Bottom line: This place is...OKAY. The few months I was alone in the 4plex were nice. I wish you luck renting here. Hope management picks up the ball. read more

(even residents) -They have an outside contract with a parking company so they don't control parking. -Noise from the freeway sucks, if your going to rent here do it on the quiet side. -The appliances are outdated in our unit, some units have been upgraded.. -When we flush the toilet or wash our hand in the sink the shower gets so hot it can actually burn you pretty bad if your not careful. -There was supposed to be a resident appreciation day, but they cancelled it with no follow up why, no sure why they said this and then never followed through. Have lived in the Wimbledon Glen Luxury Apartments for four years now. Through the years the complex has rotated through several sets of Managers. At times we wondered why all of the changes although now that John Barrett is the Manager we understand the Management having to filter through so many to find a manager like John. He is always polite and seems to be filling the vacancies with the types of people we like to live around. The grounds are kept immaculate with regards to the landscaping and especially enjoyed are the number of trees. I've owned homes, ranches and apartment buildings myself and have coped with all of the maintenance of ownership. When anything, I mean even the smallest of repairs or maintenance is required the management at Wimbledon Glen sees to it that one of their many many maintenance engineers takes care of the problem immediately. I've noticed other reviews posted but also can tell you that the folks writing the reviews (many of them) are problem tenants to begin with. The 'hassle-free' living as well as the location in regards to freeways, shopping and restaurants couldn't be better. My wife and I can walk to any of three shopping malls which are approximately a half mile from the complex to eat, shop or just for the exercise. I highly recommend this luxury space if you are looking to live in a quiet, well maintained property where the owner actually cares about his property. read more

I came in for a tour and had an amazing experience in speaking with Jessica in the leasing office. She was so informative and not pushy at all. Lived here for 7 years and the main thing about this place: Spider City!!!! Everywhere you went those suckers were out to get ya. Bees too!! This place is ok. A lot of theft occurred here and it's seriously way too overpriced. $2100 for a 2 bedroom townhome. And it's no joke, right next to the freeway. You can hear all the traffic and cars and accidents. Management also sucks since they dont care about you once you've moved in. They switch managers every few months so keep records of everything and anything. I wouldn't live here again. read more

My partner and I were looking to relocate as near South Coast Plaza as possible. We began our search at South Pointe, a nearby Arnel property. We met with Jennifer, the wonderful leasing agent, and saw a unit. She knew we were looking for a larger place AND looking to find a semi-permanent home. She suggested we have a look at Wimbledon Glen. We came that afternoon, met Jon - the warm and professional manager of the property, and saw an available unit and really fell in love. The place was built as condos, not rentals, so the ceilings are high (9ft) and you don't hear your neighbors - nice, thick insulated walls. The entryways aren't on top of each other. There are TWO pools and spas. And the landscaping is immaculate. It really feels removed from the great urban sprawl right outside the gates. Yes, leaves do fall on your patio, but I'd rather have forty and fifty foot Eucalyptus trees that offer shade and character than nothing to block the sun. Our patio was a significant draw. It really feels like an additional living area and the sunlight makes for great patio gardening. We RELISH evenings on the patio scented by our home-grown lavender, basil and rosemary with a gin and tonic in hand. Day-to-day living here is lovely and we can heartily recommend it, but it's a problem where you can really test the mettle. Our unit had been vacant for a couple weeks when we moved in and a plumbing issue presented itself on our first full day. Hey! It happens all the time! Well, Jon had Ramon (just one of the talented, professional on-site maintenance staff) to our unit in 15 minutes. FIFTEEN MINUTES!! Not only did I feel completely at ease with Ramon in our unit, but he thoroughly explained the problem, the steps he would take to remedy it, and how long it would take. THEN, Jon showed up at our door with a bottle of champagne for our trouble. We are very satisfied with our first four months here and fully expect to be here for years. Both of us work at the plaza and a short commute was important, but that one mile's distance feels like twenty by the time we're home. We love the feeling we have coming home - work seems like a memory every time we turn the key. read more

Lived at Wimbledon Glen for a year. The apartments are extremely old. The exterior seems to be falling apart everywhere. The balconies are completely rotting and breaking into pieces. The interior of the apartments are fine but all of the counter tops are gross and dingy. All cabinets closets and every other part of the interior has been painted over 9001 times its very disgusting. The carpet is replaced every 7 years... The freeway is up wind to the apartments so everything is always covered in brake dust and tire dust which is great for your lungs! The management is the worst they're switched out every 2 or 3 months. They also have some type of coupon system which is annoying. But it's very quite community as of 2010. I think this is mostly because this property is at less than 60% occupation. read more

I don't give 5 star reviews often but I gave a 1 star review to the complex I lived in before - the coronados in Newport (don't ever!!! Live there) so moving here to wimbledon glen has been a huge relief. First off - the staff is beyond polite, attentive and inviting. They know my name and greet me with it. The complex is very cute and quaint. It's quiet and inviting. I would sayy only issue is how they run parking. It doesn't make sense to not have a code on the gate. I live all the way at the back and I have ppl pick me up all the time. So I have to walk alllll the way out to the front - which is very in convienant. Also I have a garage and a pass - which is awesome so that my guest can have a spot. BUT the way they organize it doesn't work for me because I work in the nightlife industry and sometimes it's after 7pm when someone will come hang out or come over and they make you have the license plate registered in the office even tho the pass is also hanging in the car. I can't call on it later so it just doesn't help me at all. I can't take a star away for all of that for two reasons. 1: they told me when I moved in - actually when I moved In there was a key pad to punch in the code so I guess scratch that. 2: when I first moved In my car was towed and they called and paid for it to be released. For that I was VERY thankful. They didn't have to do that. My apartment - I LOVE IT. Washer, dryer, AC , garage --- can't beat it. I def pay a lot but it's very worth it to me. I'm a young girl who lives alone and I just feel safe. Highly recommend wimbledon glen. - Jerika read more
