Went there two nights ago to pick up some donuts for my boyfriend, and I. There were a lot of flies in the restaurant, and there was one in the donut case where the muffins were. Told the person helping me grab my donuts, and all she did was open the glass door of the donut case, and say, "oh shit" That's disgusting, and poor customer service. What if someone gets sick? It was the blonde cashier towards the later part of the night. The manager needs to train his employees better or get better employees who actually care about their job read more

I have been coming here more often lately because they are open 24/7 even during holidays and ironically, it is not for their donuts-it is for their green juice! They have more than one type of juice, although I have only tried their green juice, fresh and reasonably priced at 3.99. Aside from the increasingly expensive chain juice places, i have not found any places that have decent juice. The boys enjoy their donut holes and some of the donuts that are good when fresh. Service has been consistently friendly and efficient. I have yet to try any breakfast sandwiches or any of the mexican pastries so I can't yet comment on those. The parking space is very small and there are time when I have had to park in the next plaza over. It is in a very bad area of town so there will be panhandlers out at night. read more

Tuesday, July 12, 2011 I decided that I wanted breakfast so I decided to try this Winchell's out because it was the first thing I saw. I ended up getting two turkey melts which is just cheese and turkey slapped on a bagel. What kind of pissed me off was the fact that he put my bagel in the freaky microwave. WTF??!! I can go buy my own damn turkey and cheese and microwave my own freaking food! Plus, the guy was using his bare hands to make my food! What the hell are you doing? Did I mention the place looks HELLA dirty? Not only that, the parking is horrendous. The parking space is so tiny that it's a freaking disaster to get out. I had to forward/reverse so many freaking times! I'm not coming to this poop of a place again. read more

Where to start? I came here to fulfill my curiosity after seeing various adverts on their windows every time I passed the place. Once inside, it's pretty much like a standard donut shop: display full of various donuts, counter with register, tables, and a high definition tv. The place is pretty clean by most standards, and the environment is pretty much what you would expect if you went to another donut shop (Freshh Donut, for example). I got a glazed donut and a 32oz diet coke on my trip there. The donut was pretty good, in that the soft and fluffy texture of it seemed to melt in your mouth. In addition to donuts, they also do specialty dessert drinks, deli sandwiches, and coffee, all of which I will have to try on the next trip there. Here is the main complaint: the location of the donut shop is terrible. Its on the corner of University and Chicago and has two little parking lots, both of which are hard to get out of. It is located next to a giant abandoned and fenced off lot, making the donut shop seem kind of shady if you ever want to come in at night. Overall, I'm satisfied with this place. The employee (there was only one when I went in) was friendly and the prices are ok (32oz sodas are 74 cents). Location sucks though, but I'm willing to give this place another try as a secondary location for donuts (Donut Man in Glendora ftw). read more

Walked in to buy a dozen donuts and had to wait about 5-6 minutes (nobody else in line in front of us, only one couple after us) to be helped because only one employee was tending to customers. When the lady (heavy-set, didn't see a name) finally started to take our order, she was quite rude and had a bad attitude. Probably because she was by herself and was taking her sweet time? She said she could not understand or hear us because we were wearing masks... Sorry, not taking them off! We had selected 8 donuts and she then said are u guys done? I then said we had asked for a dozen and asked her if 8 was a dozen and she mumbled something which I was unable to make out. She had given us the wrong donuts and when I pointed it out, she said "well they're on the same tray" and you could tell it bothered her to put them back and give us what we had ordered. We've bought donuts here in the past and other employees have been nice and happy to help. Will probably be back and hopefully we don't have to have this same lady take our order. read more

I went once and told the girl to wash her hands as she was sweeping, to what she responded am not even going to touch them. She went to wash her hands and gave me a dirty look. She talked bad about me to the other girl, which is really nice as she has served me before, and ask are you ready with an attitude. I responded that I was and she again ignored me and kept talking to the other co-worker. Again she asked me if I was ready and I said am waiting on you. Finally, she gave me my order and keep given me dirty looks as she kept passing by as I was waiting for my sandwich. Okay. Let me start from the beginning. A friend told me about the meal deal. Any sandwich a drink and chips or doughnut for 5 dollars. I'm in. So we pull into the drive way. This is where it seemed my journey would take a turn for the worst. The parking spaces are all askew and every which way. I didn't know which way to park. Fortunetly I was not the driver so I did not have to make the decision myself. And actually it was really easy to park it just looks really crazy. Anyhow. So we walk in and I see it. The meal deal sign. The meal deal was not in fact 5 dollars. It was 6.49. Luckily I had a credit card. I ordered the bacon avacado melt with a coffee and a glazed doughtnut. My friend ordered a sausage cheese and ham breakfast burrito. He told me it was pretty average but comparatively better than what he was expecting. My bagel melt pretty melty. But wait. Im getting ahead of myself. So I order my food....and we sat down. There was plenty of seating. The customers were all very respectful of each other. That was nice. The tweekers outside were slightly off putting...but I'm pretty sure they're just lost because the parking lot is so confusing. Anyhow my bagel melt took forever to prepare but I'm pretty sure it was because it was so busy. Anyhow it wasn't anything fancy but it hit the spot. I randomly stopped off to this shop in the middle of the night. I ordered a jalapeño bagel "extra toasted" and a glazed buttermilk. OMG, best service ever and the best bagel I ever had. It is 115 degrees outside and this place has no Air Conditioning on! Are you kidding me? I don't even know how those employees are working there.!! As a customer I could not breath in there. This is wrong and this business should not be open if they don't turn on the AC during heat like this. On top of that they do not have customer restroom. It's hard to complain about 24-hr donuts. On top of that, they make pretty good wraps and bagel sandwiches. Personally I like the tuna wrap. The customer service can be a mixed bag, but I've never had a really bad experience, so I'll keep coming back for middle of the night snacks! read more

The parking & location kind of suck. It's awkward to back out of & you will likely get hassled by a homeless person. I've been here a few times. It's not a good place to stay at for any period of time but the donuts and employees are great. I once came here to proofread some writing work. It was not happening. This guy with prominent pipe burns on his lips kept asking me for my donut. I eventually gave it to him. An employee noticed I did this and gave me another one without me even having to ask (again, the staff are great), but the guy kept hassling me, this time for my coffee! I told him if I gave him that next he'd be asking for the keys to my motorcycle. He didn't laugh. : ) The employee's threatened to call the cops on him and he eventually went outside. Beyond that, I've been here when the store is closed but the window is open and you can eat outside. There's no tables or anything but likely because they'd be stolen or constantly slept on by the homeless who seem to rule these parts. Right in the worst part of Riverside. Prostitutes, junkies, dealers, and the homeless are all over this strip. That's university in Riverside for ya. The staff are really nice and friendly. Patient when I can't decide because they have so many good lookin donuts. Don't get their sandwiches though. They are not properly equipped for that. As other reviews have said, the pics on the windows look good but they don't do fresh sandwiches, they do microwaved sandwiches. Stick to the donuts & coffee and you'll be happy. Yuck! this place has roaches!! :( i used to love winchells, especially their sandwiches. Until i saw they had roaches. I am never coming back. I asked one of their employees about the infestation and they said the managers/supervisors dont really care. That they have tried getting rid of them once, with no success. I went to this store on 1-21-17.when there was a long wait to get a dozen of donuts 2 apple freter and a jalapeño bread roll two cappuccinos and a hot chocolate. while waiting Co worker noticed a fly in the case. so when we mentioned it to the worker. they shrugged it off. then in taking my order my wasn't packed right. so I called and spoke to Yahina who said she would give me a dozen on my next visit. I arrived to Winchells at 10:01 pm, and as i pulled up the employees closed the restaurant which meant all us customers would have to go around to use the window. The sign on the front of Winchell's clearly says this only happens after 11 pm. The fact that there were about 10 people outside in the cold and rain was enough to anger everyone in line. Love this donut shop but HATE the parking! They have two really small parking lots with compact spaces but luckily they are next to walgreens so I usually park there and walk a couple of extra steps! Stopped in for a quick bite, ordered a donut, a breakfast burrito, a breakfast bagel, a french vanilla coffee and a coke. They were out of coke so had to get mr pibb. The coffee was nasty, tasted like the machine needed a good cleaning. The donuts were good. The breakfast bagel wasn't that great, all egg and hardly any cheese. The burrito was very salty.
