After trying KC's donuts today I'll absolutely miss Steve's even more Steve's was just the best donut shop that wasn't an overhyped couture donut The quality was amazing, flavors and service! Today I tried the KC version of the strawberry buttercream donut and it's not the same in any way No more heart, whipped cream instead of buttercream and not nearly enough strawberries Service was fine, quick It's too bad they couldn't keep Steve's quality and recipe. Need to find a new spot now So sad but happy they were able to retire Steve's is always 5 star KC maybe 3.5 read more

First im gonna have to say I have never been to the physical address. I only know about this place because my hubby gets me donuts sometimes on Sunday mornings. Recently he came home with these (Pictured above) I love all things cinnamon. So my favorite is the crumble cinnamon roll. It was love at first bite! Perfectly paired with a scalding hot cup of homemade coffee. Lol Hubby describes it ambiance as a normal donut shop and the service is fairly quick. I came here the other day with a good friend. Linda at the front counter was very nice. She gave us service with a smile. The inside of the donut shop was clean. I ordered a maple bar and a glazed twist donut. I got my daughter a blueberry muffin, it was big and we both shared that at home. Definitely disappointed to see Steve and Linda have retired. Came as a shock when I walked in. I was never coming here for the donuts, I prefer their muffins and flaky filled croissant pastries. The muffins are still pretty good, the prior were literally my favourite in Southern California. The filled croissant admittedly, not as flaky as I remember, and it's a bit more chewy/doughy as some have commented about the donuts. I would prefer the coffee to be served by them just so that I know it hasn't been handled by many other people. I believe they've also switched to slightly smaller coffee cups. I hope the new owners are still in touch with the others, and might be able to pay them to come in and do some additional training on preparing the pastries. I don't want this to become like every other generic donut and coffee shop. Giving the new owners the benefit of the doubt, and will re-review again in a month. read more

This is the first time I've submitted a review for Steve's though I've been enjoying them for the past few years. They became my favorites in Riverside not only because of how friendly Steve and Linda are, but they made the best donuts in town. The donuts were very airy and fresh; I even turned family and friends onto them which is why I was so sad last Saturday when I learned that Steven and Linda are retiring and sold the shop which is now called KC's Donuts. Since I was there, I thought I would give them a try in hopes that their product would be the same quality since Steve was there doing what I think was showing them the ropes. Sadly, my family and I were so disappointed when trying the new product. They were no longer the quality that many have come to very much enjoy. The donuts tasted slightly stale, they were neither airy nor fresh. I even noticed how the Bear Claws were changed to tiny Bear "Fingers". I'm only giving 5 stars to Steve's Donuts and not KC's because needless to say, my favorite Riverside donut spot is no longer. I'll miss Steve and Linda. I'll miss Steve telling us, "SOLD" and Linda's, "SEE YOU IN 5 MINUTES" after purchasing. I don't think there'll be another spot like it. read more

I was going to order a coffee and a donut but needed to use the restroom first just to clean hands and not much else. The nice asian lady said the restrooms are not available for the public. That's strange, anyway she directed me to go to Stater Bros across the street and to come back, needless to say I didn't. Customer Service: 5 stars. The man and the woman were very nice. Greeted, started conversation, and kept complimenting the kids. Kids kept telling me, "they're so nice." Lol. Price: Same. Usual. Like $1 a donut and half dozen $5.xx. Other shops are $1-$1.10 for the regular donuts. I probably eat donuts every two weeks, and my jeans definitely tell me I don't need to try another donut shop but doing a search on Yelp for donuts listed this shop with good reviews and so my taste buds told me I had to see for myself. We were there around 1:00 pm so there wasn't a wide selection left and the female employee/co-owner? said they close at 6:00. As already known, greatest selection is during breakfast hours but we were in the area so donuts with our lunch sounded just as yummy. Taste: Too sweet for me, which is odd because I lovvvvvve sweet treats. I think because my chocolate old-fashioned had a layer of glaze and then the thick layer of chocolate. This I appreciate since I don't like just a thin layer of chocolate coating on my doughnuts. The pretty decorated blue cake donut and the appealing chocolate on glaze raised (regular) donut were also very sweet. The kids loved them but next time we'll have to stop by at an earlier time so I can try a classic chocolate bar donut. Steve's Donut's are amazing... They are soooo fluffy and good. The service was top notch the guy was really cool with me. I bought the doughnuts for my hockey team and everyone kept on asking me where did I get the doughnuts... The price was very cheap, compared to the big companies like Dunkin Dounuts, ect... On the inside the ambiance was really good. It had this classic French cafe feel and look to it. By the way, they also have apple fritters coffee croissants and more. This has to be the place if you want good size fresh quality doughnuts. The kiddo wanted donuts so of course being the big softie I've turned into, I went with it. That said I didn't want Dunkin or Yum Yum or anything like that. I'm all about supporting small business. That's when I settled on Steve's Donuts. Located in a strip mall across from the old K-Mart, Steve's Donuts is about as unassuming as it gets. But hey, when you see a place on Yelp with an average of five stars on over 150 reviews you tend to raise your expectations a bit. And when I walked into a line that met me at the door, it let me know the place isn't exactly a well kept secret. But the line went quick and we ordered the goods. I went the ham & cheese croissant and a glazed twist and after one bite of each I knew the hype was real. The croissant was huge, moist and above all, extremely tasty. The twist was the same. The kiddo ordered the M&M donut which also had M&Ms in the middle. Talk about chocolate overload! She also got the fruity pebbles cake donut and I can say with first hand experience this was good as well. Service was fast and friendly. Especially from Linda who really enjoys chatting with the customers. Seating is pretty limited but that's pretty typical of most donut shops. I don't know if Steve's Donuts is the best in Riverside but they make a dang tasty confection. There's a big variety so there's something for every taste. Highly recommended! read more
