BEWARE---When looking for an addiction program. This place is fine until you have been there for a…read moreyear. They immediately want you to detox. I am not sure the upper management is aware of some of their underlings antics such as the nurses, counselors...ect. I know from the experiences with someone in their program for the last 6 yrs. He never failed a drug screen or count. But yet they called him in for counts almost every month for a couple of yrs including when I was in the hospital having my first child. He had to leave for a count. Then the money issues. They have been trying to say he owes them money for a long time but he has every receipt since starting and always paid in full every time. This last excused they used was that something showed up on his last drug screen, which happened to be a psychiatric med that he took to them months ago to show them he was on it. All of a sudden they have no record of that med in his chart that he brought to them 3 months ago and he paid for a months worth of medicine which they said they would not return as he supposedly owes them money. How can you owe money for something you have paid for without fail in full for 6 yrs straight. They knew from the second he came into that office they were not going to let him dose or give him those take homes but stole money from him. So please try to find a long term Doctor or something. Because these people play dirty after a year or so to get rid of you. Which is crazy because this is a money oriented place but I guess the director is not aware. I help run an addiction program myself and I find this to be disgusting. We would never do something like this to people trying to better their situation. As well as lie the way these individuals have.

I've never seen Dr. Byrd, but my husband and I have both been regular patients of Jill Defibaugh…read morefor several years. The staff seems competent and professional and I've never had a bad experience. They may not be as abundantly welcoming and friendly as other offices I've been in, but I'd attribute that to them simply being busy. However, we absolutely love Jill and would follow her if she ever went to another practice. She's friendly and easy to talk to about your health. You can tell that she is really listening attentively and cares about your well-being. I'm extremely needle-phobic and tend to procrastinate on blood work, and I struggle with weight loss. Even with those issues, Jill is compassionate and never makes you feel bad about any issues you are facing. She gives medical advice without lecturing or belittling, and she's even patient when you come in with internet research to discuss ;-)

I've been coming to ABFP for the last year as I felt this was the most awesome family practice in…read morethe area. Enjoyed the staff, enjoyed the nurses, and the PAs. Fast forward to my first encounter with Dr. Byrd - the most unprofessional physician visit I've ever encountered. It was interesting because I agreed to have the intern/student observe the exam as she attempted to accurately diagnose, and it was very disheartening to see Dr. Byrd exhibit this immature behavior in an educational setting. Dr. Byrd did not effectively diagnose, address the issue at hand, nor recognized concerns mentioned based on contradicting business practices. Unfortunately, after several decades of practical experience, Dr. Byrd has some soft skills to further develop, possibly patient/Dr. communication, interoffice communication, empathy, humility, emotional awareness, problem-solving, and demonstrating diplomacy when faced with conflicting medical assessments, etc... And possibly, just maybe - separate personal issues/unconscious bias from patient treatment/care. Her one 'bad day' left her with one less patient/customer. I'll gladly go back to any of the larger practices I've frequented based off of this horrible experience with Dr. Byrd. I hope the other Doctors at ABFP provide her with the tools she needs to grow as a healthcare provider.
