This practice doesn't appear to care enough to jump in and deal with an emergency situation. After spending time in the hospital, my wife was told to see Dr. Mantell ASAP for a potentially serious infection in the wrist. Immediately after discharge, she calls Mantell's office as instructed. The person who answered the phone dismisses the entire situation because she claims they have no records, and refused to make an appointment. This is the practice that consulted on the case while she was in the hospital! One has to wonder if this practice has any concern whatsoever for the welfare of patients. We were promised a call back. This place has gone down hill since being acquired by the Centers. I had a shoulder rebuild here over a year ago and the service was great and the scheduling was top notch. Came back and had my knee surgery here two weeks ago. Tried calling during business hours and the automated machine puts you on hold for 10-15 minutes and then hangs up multiple times. Never spoke to a human. They no longer schedule you into their in-house PT at the time of your surgery. So I can't get them to schedule me in house before my final appointment with my surgeon. Gonna have to find somewhere else but can't reach them on the phone to find out which other PT places in town can do the post op PT that are covered by insurance after a surgery they preformed. Complete disappointment / lack of appointments. They need a reboot on their office staff/ schedulers. read more

I'm still fuming about my recent experience with Dr. Mantell's office after surgery. Let me make it clear: Dr. Mantell himself performed the surgery on my knee and I have no complaints about the procedure or his expertise. However, the level of care and communication after surgery was appalling. I was left in the dark, with no clear instructions on how to care for my knee or use crutches. It was like they expected me to figure it out on my own. And when I went in for my one-week post-op appointment, I was told that I wouldn't need to come back for another four weeks. I was shocked and concerned, as a first-time surgery patient, I had no idea what to expect. To make matters worse, no plans were made to remove my stitches, and my skin is now growing over them. It's unacceptable that they didn't prioritize my care and didn't keep me informed about the necessary steps to ensure a smooth recovery. If I hadn't taken initiative and followed up, I have no idea what would have happened to my wound. The lack of communication and responsibility from Dr. Mantell's office is inexcusable. It's their duty to keep patients informed and take care of their needs, not leave them to fend for themselves. I'm still trying to process the poor care I received and hope that others will learn from my experience. I had ACL and Meniscus Repair on 5/8/24 and wrote this on 5/23/24. read more

I have never in my life felt so disrespected by a doctors office. Specifically, Dr. Zoller, he treated me as if I was an inconvenience to him. Absolute waste of my time to even walk in the building. I went in to get results of an MRI I had done on my back, and he looked at me and spoke to me like I was an idiot. I DO NOT recommend Dr Zoller, maybe there is another doctor there that isn't a rude jerk, but I highly doubt it. read more

We didn't even make it to seeing anyone at the office, but the interactions with the office staff was enough to turn us away from using Winchester Orthopaedic. First, I was told that since we had been seen elsewhere, we would not be given an appointment until all of the requested notes and results were received by their office. I called the previous office and asked for office notes and received those by email. I called Winchester Ortho back and asked for an email to send the notes to and was told they didn't have email, but I could fax them. Well, I don't have a fax so I told them I would bring them to the office the next day. The response was "It would be easier to fax them to us". I'm not sure who that would be easier for, but definitely not for me. The next day, I went into the office to drop off the notes, where the lady behind the desk repeatedly argued with me that those weren't notes from the previous visit they requested and that they weren't able to see any of the results from testing because they aren't part of Valley Health. I told her the lady I spoke to the day before was able to see the ultrasound and MRI results, to which the lady behind the desk changed her story and said oh well, we can see those, but not radiology. Today, I received a phone call that they were able to schedule an appointment and I asked what they received different than what I gave them yesterday that they are now able to all of a sudden schedule an appointment, but she had no idea what they had received. She told me I could make the appointment and talk to the office manager to see, which sounds odd to me. Because if you argue with me that what I handed you yesterday wasn't what you needed (even though it is what they requested) and that you couldn't see any test results (even though another person told me she could see them) and now all of a sudden you can make the appointment, you should be able to tell me what changed between yesterday and today. Moving forward, I'm in the process of scheduling the appointment where the lady starts repeatedly telling me that I have an insurance that I know I don't have and that my primary doctor never sent her our insurance information. I finally got tired of the incompetence and called by primary doctor back and asked for a referral somewhere else where they know what they are doing. During this process, Winchester Ortho calls me back and admits she made a mistake that they she can see our insurance information and she again can continue with making an appointment. Sorry, but your inability to do something as easy as make an appointment does not give me confidence in your ability to handle an appointment that will require removing something from my daughter's knee. read more

My first visit, to my surprise, was only with a PA and not very helpful. Trying once again, when I specifically described painful back problems, I drew the bottom card in the deck - a physician close to my own age (mentioned by name in other negative comments here) who pooh-poohed imaging, insisting that it's b.s. and only listening to me counts, frequently telling me dismissively that his wife has the same symptoms. I am seriously searching for another practice! read more

As far as medical knowledge and patient care, Dr Gore is a STAR! Would definitely recommend her for hip replacement surgery. The aftercare and support was fantastic. WOA has a great system for answering any questions or responding to concerns. The whole staff deserves a round of applause. read more

As per the other reviews here, it seems they are still pushing patients off onto PAs whether they want to see one or not. I don't want to sound negative about PAs, but it should be a choice and people should know going in that, if at all possible, you will be receiving the services that cost the least to provide and in many cases, the patient may think that's exactly what is needed. There are situations in which I might think that is all that is needed. But if I'm not going to be given a choice, I will exercise the choices I do have, and go somewhere else. read more

When I made an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon, I did not expect a PA to blow into the room (and half an hour late at that) and look at me like a deer in the headlights (honestly, he seemed surprised that someone was in the exam room). He didn't even introduce himself. He really did not seem to know what he was doing, either. Said my x-rays, which had been taken in the emergency room, didn't show anything concerning, but when I asked to see them, he said he didn't have them. Wow! Good work on the imaginary analysis, Uri Geller! Asked me to demonstrate my shoulder's range of motion, told me to keep taking ibuprofen, and left the room. Never saw him again. A different person brought me a doctor's note for my employer--and my name was misspelled on it. I also got a generic prescription for their physical therapy office on the lower level. Dude never touched my shoulder. He told me to come back in a month, but there's no way I'll be returning. read more

I saw Dr Martenson in March about hip pain. It was determined that I needed a total right hip replacement with a lateral approach. After going over things I needed to do in order to have the surgery another appt was scheduled for late May. All was a go at the May appt, some pre-testing was done immediately and others scheduled. The surgery was scheduled for July 23rd. Everything went extremely well. I was treated with the greatest respect by the staff, Eric Fisher, PA and Dr Martenson. The office made all the arrangements for home health care and Physical Therapy. I am now recovering just fine. I am so pleased with this practice, their high standards and professionalism. I have never regretted my choice of selecting this practice. I highly recommend Dr Martenson. Thank you to Winchester Orthopedics & Associates. read more

Awful. No bedside manner. Saw two different doctors and both seemed to have a very pompous attitude and not care about the questions you ask. Asking for further explanations seems to be a big no-no. The woman in charge of scheduling at the time was very unpleasant. I have a very odd work schedule so sometimes it takes some doing in order to figure out the best day to confirm an appointment. She ended up getting frustrated and made some negative comments. At this point my patience was gone due to the way the Doctors treated me as well as her. I told her not to bother setting anything up because I was done there and would not be coming back. A few weeks after that I got a fairly rude voicemail claiming that I had missed my appointment. The only good thing about this place was the nurses. The ones I dealt with were very pleasant. Even so, I do not recommend coming here. read more

Stay away - this place is awful and frankly they just don't even pretend to want your business. The reception is terrible -- they'll keep you on hold for as long as they can, 40+ minutes hoping you will just get tired and hang up and if not they will just put you to voice mail or "oops" disconnect. When and if you finally talk to a live person they won't let you schedule an appointment without reviewing all your records even if that record is decades old and the practice no longer exists. You just want to be seen for a simple issue easily seen with an x-ray and have a MD referral - nope forget about it. If you do get in, finally, for an appointment - well good for you but that is only the first hurtle, they will pass you off to a PA without giving you any a chance to discuss options with the actual orthopedist. I'm exhausted and they have worn me down - I surrender and give them what they wanted in the beginning I'll go somewhere else where I am treated nicely, professionally and where the entire office makes me feel like they actually want to help people get well. read more

Had a bad fall in August 2018 which resulted in a fractured humerus. Was referred by ER to WOA. Saw a PA for all my appointments, never a doctor. Was told unless I needed surgery I would not see a doctor. Went through 2+ months of PT. Reached a plateau with PT and arm still sore and limited range of motion. Was told by the PA on my last visit that this could take up to a year to heal, that I needed to be patient and that I may never get full use of my arm. I asked about dry needling and she told me that might be a good option. Had three visits for that and nothing changed. An MRI was ordered from that facility and I was called several days later and told that there was no blood flow to my arm and the bone tissue was decaying. I am now seeing a doctor in Landsdowne and have been told the best course of treatment is a shoulder replacement. I am scheduled for a CT scan with a follow up with doctor. Experience with WOA is very unsettling. read more

Had a referral for urgent care with a broken elbow my first appointment everyone was rude, I blow it off as being a busy practice. I started my visits with a PA and never once seen a Doctor after 9 weeks of no healing I asked what the next course of treatment would be. The PA said we just have to wait longer and I don't want to rush you off to surgery and start all over again. After some convincing she ordered a CT scan I was at work they called multiple times on my home phone never my work or cell number. It was to late to return the call after I got home not one call there after get results in a few days and will be transferring care else where the physician who I never meet who was said to have ordered the CT scan has a specialty in knees and Hips not hands and elbows so no wonder I had crappy care. After reading about my broke on the internet it rarely heals without surgical intervention. YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO ASK QUESTIONS as they won't be answered not even at an extra cost. read more

My experience with a broken hand wasn't good. First, if you have a broken hand you can't write. However, the front desk expects you to fill out a LONG registration form yourself or have someone do it for you. That's fine if are able to bring someone along but that was not my case. How about being a bit more customer service oriented and offering some sort of patient assist with this. When I told the receptionist I couldn't use my right hand she told me to "do the best you can." Very comforting. It was my first time breaking anything in my life and I told Allison this. I was hoping for a bit more bedside manner and more explanation than what I got. She was so very dismissive and rude and acted as if I was taking up her valuable time. Once I had the MRI and knew that I didn't need surgery and I only needed an air cast (charged me $100+ for it and the EXACT same one was available at CVS for $10) I never went back. I did a lot of Internet research on my own for therapy and healing and the hand is just fine now. In my opinion, WOA is just a "treat 'em and street 'em" organization and operates like a production line. Even though I like Dr. Wise a lot, I'd be hard pressed to return because of the way this practice is managed. read more

I recently visited this office by recommendation from my OB/GYN. I developed tendonitis pregnant, not sure why. but I went there twice. Once for an initial appointment then one for a cortisone shot. The doctor didn't seem friendly at all, I just kind of blew it off. But when I got home and reviewed my discharge papers from my second appointment it told me that I'm in need of preventative medicine counseling for weight management. I just had a baby 3 months prior. I went for my wrist not for my weight and I was so insulted. Any women knows, being pregnant is hard on body and mind! I weigh 160 at 5 foot 7 inches. The ideal weight for me is anywhere from 133lbs to 147lbs. I'm not ideal but who is! I'm working on a lot of issues post baby and I couldn't believe the nerve of this doctor to print this on my release papers. I was shocked! I will never be returning to them again! read more

I waited four months with a frozen shoulder for WOA to get their act together and schedule an MRI. Despite repeated visits and calls to the office, I never got it. I requested my records be transferred to another doctor, and they screwed that up too. I got my MRI a week after my appointment at the new office with a different doctor. read more
