The service and convenience have only been amplified by their recent system upgrades, allowing customers to pay via tap to pay, Apple Pay and other methods. (They don't accept credit cards but that's ok). WinCo promises great prices that are only surpassed by greater customer service. On Saturday nights the vibe in the store is giving 5am Black Friday at Best Buy. But this location is open 24hrs a day. So at 5:30am on any given week day, the atmosphere is very calm, relaxed, almost peaceful! Morning regulars come in and greet cashiers who have been seeing their faces for years. Winco is our go to store for groceries. Depending when and what time i go it might be crazy busy or not. I noticed the produce section is always busy and people sure like to take their time in that section. We love their meat department. Sometimes they have really great deals on their steaks and pork chops and chicken. We already remember where everything is so when we do go some place new, it's weird to us. I usually get everything i need from Winco except for a few items I like to get in bulk from Sam's club such as my coffee creamers, milk and eggs. But Winco is a great place for groceries. I think they're very clean and organized. Sometimes the lines to pay are ridiculous but staff is usually great when you're up there. read more

I been here once since my kids wanted to come here . So here we go again this month again. Anyways the store is very clean and they have various candies dog food snacks way in the back. Plus you can make or grind your own peanut butter which is nice. Anyways I got to the register and I noticed the cashier talking to the customer in front of me. When it came to my turn she asked if it was ok to scan a buy a drink for herself since her mouth is dry. I said of course no worries, she proceeded to talk to me about the store and the coupons and how she enjoys working at Winco. I asked her how long she had been employed since spike very highly of the store and the prices. She said 6 months I said I can tell you love what you do. Bulk Bins galore! When I first walked in, it was giving me food4less vibes, an industrial style warehouse store with racks full of bargain items. But, as I looked closer, I realized they sold some great products. They carried my favorite Slap Ya Mama seasoning in a jumbo sized container for half the price you'd find it on Amazon. They had Abuelita hot chocolate (perfect for your walks through the Christmas lights in the neighborhood) again at a great price. While the store has a wide variety of products from canned goods to produce to cosmetics to party supplies, we had our eyes on the bulk bins! This may seem random but we were in search of unsalted peanuts and lots of them to take to the park to feed the squirrel (shoutout: Panorama Park). The bin was pretty empty, but they have staff all throughout the store and we were quickly helped by one of the employees that was on his way to refill it. We were able to walk away with our 6 pounds of peanuts for just around $10- bargain! One thing I appreciated was that the employee noticed someone grabbing an item with their hands and immediately corrected the behavior. Why people do this is beyond me (gross!) but I appreciated that the employees weren't afraid to step in and say something. They have a self check out area. However, the credit card machines can be a little finicky at times so have some cash just in case. read more

The store itself is fine, nothing special. The prices have doubled and tripled the past 5 years. They got all the essentials but not a whole lot of else outside the bulk dry goods. The meat department isn't the best quality C-. The produce I'd give a C+/B-. Selection of groceries gets a solid B. Cashiers get an A- from me. Those people work very hard and I respect that. What brings this review down is the people who frequent this place. A lot of low class people shop here and bring their ill mannered attitudes. It's the Walmart/Costco "types" who live paycheck to paycheck and/or collect welfare. They have no manners and don't care about anyone but themselves. Many times they will cuss random people out for trying to simply pass by. The produce department is littered with people touching all the produce and have no idea what they're doing as far as picking produce. None of these people have any expertise in picking the produce but think somehow they know what they're doing. Then you go out into the aisles and you got people with no self awareness blocking the entire lane. If you ask to pass by some people will give you major attitude. I see fights in the parking lot regularly out here. Very sketchy people in the parking lot going car to car looking for items to steal. Lots of ghetto people are coming into this store from the new Section 8 apartments built nearby. If you have to enter this store shop at night first off. after 8pm but before 10pm when all the cashiers leave for the night. I was an employee at winco since 2022 I applied for supervisor because of my background at grocery stores as assistant manager and manager. The store manager Angie Silva hired me she said she couldn't give me the position available since she I didn't have experience working at a Winco. She hired me as a grocery clerk. 6 months latter I because a supervisor. Angie plays to be a nice manager. But she stressed me out a lot. Timing me to finish frozen or deli department when her other lead clerks weren't even working all they did was seat watch football games on there phone. Every day that I would go in to work she would stressed me out as soon as I came in telling me how come this wasn't filled how come this is not filled all the way to the back? Everytime it was the same answer the product wasn't ordered or the pallets weren't broken down. I had to down stack that in the freezer which I wasn't prepared with a jacket gloves or anything. They weren't provided neither. I felt harassed by her and her assistants Fred and there leads and a female assistant was at the store back than. I forgot her name. Fred and the leads never answered the lead calls Fred was always flirting with a 17 year old grocery clerk through the radio. I never enjoyed my brakes or lunches because I had to stop to go down stairs to take the calls because no one would take them. I talked to Angie about it and she said she would talk to Fred but he continued to doing it. She didn't fix that situation. One time I was working in the freezer store floor one of the doors collapsed on top of me I hurt my wrist bands both hands I couldn't work any faster. She continue to stressed me out and I told her why I couldn't be any faster she said let me see, I showed her my swollen wrist she said your fine you don't need to go to the doctor. She had me continue working my tears would come out of my eyes because of the pain and cruelty of her. I applied for the M.A program because my dream was to grow with winco career wise. I stopped applying because Angie told me that it was up to her she had the final say. She wasn't going to approve it. So I'm still wondering if that's how things are, why all the interviews and test and all that just for the store manager to have final say it's not even based on my performance or experience. She would mislead many of us employees that she would train us and have us at higher positions she never did. One of the employees was matt frensky and my self. She wouldn't allowed Andy to become a lead clerk because of he's lower back injury that happened at that store. On August 2024 my Father was ill in Mexico I was notified 2 weeks before my father passed away. I told Angie it's my dad he's not good at all. She said I can't have you leave give me two weeks. I will argue with her she was so unkind unthoughtful of the whole situation on the 3 rd week I told her on Wed Angie I'm leaving my father is worst I have to go say good bye to him. She said I need you here at work. I told her fire me I don't care. I got to my father on Wed he passed away the following day I berely made it to kiss him when he already couldn't even here me. From there when I came back I was hurting a lot with her behavior as a manager. I decided to move to Arizona closer with my kids. She said she wouldn't approve me to leave and her and her assistant lennet gave me a warning for no reason. I went personally to Arizona spoke to manager she was happy to hear I was moving out there. She needed good employees she promised to have the position for me until I finally made it out there. These type of abuse of power makes me sick. Managers like her should be mangers at all. I do not make it to this side of town often. But when Yelp duty calls (aka Yelp Elite Event prep) I made it a point to seek out this store. We recently hosted a Yelp Elite Event at Wind Wolves Preserve. And with icy cold paleta's in tow we needed dry ice - and stat! After picking up the cart at Camino we headed right around the corner to this WinCo and bought a bag of dry ice. When I tell you that this small bag kept 50 paleta's icy cold for over 24 hours I mean it! Don't mess around with ice when it's Bakersfield hot. Go straight to dry ice (and heed all necessary precautions of course). With supplies in tow we were in and out in less than 15 minutes. This WinCo is convenient, clean and easy on the wallet. Just remember they only take cash and debit - so that corporate card will have to sit it out. Overall a nice addition to the growing South of Bakersfield! read more

This grocery store is my go to spot. The thing I enjoy about this store is their selection of produce. There always seems to be some new produce that we have been talking about or have wanted to try. Most recently, they have bitter melon. I am always looking at recipes while walking through the store because of some new veg that they have. This spot is our every week spot. Winco has a lot of great deals and the price point is what keeps us coming back. Majority of our shopping is done here. They have a great selection of everything there. This can always find the cut of meat that you are looking for. If you are not sure what to make for dinner, just walk around the store and you will find something. It will either be from their vast selection of product or some premade meals that they have All in all, this is a must stop for your grocery shopping. Impressed with Josh in the service deli. He shaved the ham I ordered without any gripe! He actually was very kind about it and that's unusual for a deli these days. In the middle he also managed to serve someone up some chicken and help a fellow employee take an order. So great job there Josh. Then at the checkout the lines were terribly long yet my cashier Sara was also a rockstar. I watched her work hard to move her line though she has braces on both hands. This pains me to write this review because I have tried to support winco because they are employee owned. Every year since this location has opened I have supported them and have used them to supply the food that I buy to create 1,000 food baskets for needy families at Christmas. I come in early every year and write out every item that I need as well as possible substitutes. I buy around 20,000 dollars in one shopping trip. Not a drop in the bucket to a store like that, but it's something. I try to support local companies especially in a time like this. All I do is I go in and they order the food for me. It arrives in a couple of days and I have a team of guys go and pick it up from Winco early in the morning when they are not busy. I make it as easy as possible, and every year the lower level employees give me trouble. They just don't like the extra work. The store manager loves me, because they appreciate the jump in sales for little work. This year I went in to just buy a few items at once. I just had a box boy give me 5 cases of stuffing, brownie mix, spaghetti sauce, and corn. It was all packed in the carts and easily labeled as such. The same man who gives me trouble every year, (he's a cashier and the customer service clerk- I won't put his name down) didn't want to help us. The manager on duty was ok with our order, but he at first refused to check us out. Also, every morning when I come and pick up the food that I bought, I have to bring my own help with my own equipment, because the workers just don't want to help. Again; I get the fact that big orders suck. But I get no discount at all, so if you want my money to make your goals, you should be willing to help me. I come here all the time...Pretty decent prices good selection of product...Love the selection of alcohol and beer i like the ability to buy just one or 2 different bottles of specialty beer to try. Rapidly becoming my favorite grocery store. I like the fact that it is employee owned, and decisions are shared among employees, as well as some profit sharing. I also like that even though it feels huge, the layout gets you in and out as quickly or as leisurely as you care to go. I love the bulk bins, and I hope shoplifters do not kill them off. (Not sure why otherwise honest people suddenly start stuffing their faces with food they haven't paid for. You wouldn't open a box of cereal or drink a carton of milk; why would you steal from the bins?) I especially like the variety of the bins: candies, cereals, baking flours, grains, pastas, nuts, pet food and treats; sometimes this is the only part of the store we have to visit besides the dairy aisle. I've been here all different times of day, from early morning to afternoon to evening to late night. Stopped in on Super Bowl Sunday and the place was as packed as you'd expect, but I was able to get through the aisles and line pretty quickly. Great prices, some times dollars lower on name brand products than other large chain stores. I do wish they had a location more Central. Right now the drive to either Panama or Coffee location is quite a trek from my home, so I only really go when I need a week or more worth of groceries. read more

All stores seems to have the same price "which is high" this place you can find all types of bargain. We usually come here for the energy drinks because they seem to always have them on sale every other week. The bulk area is one of my favorite, you can bulk buy almost everything, I couldn't believe they had peanut butter you can actually make.. this is crazy awesome. First off, this location is a lot nicer than the one on Coffee Rd. The store was clean and well stocked, and not very busy for being the first of the month. I used the self check out and that's where things went a little down hill. The employee working that area with the pink stripes in her hair blocked customers from accessing the open terminals b/c she was too busy chit chatting with a friend who was at the first terminal to the right. She was too busy doing that to help others or direct traffic to open registers. She needs some training, but other than her the other staff was fine. read more

WinCo is probably my favorite grocery store to shop at in Bakersfield. I used to visit the other WinCo all the time, but since this one has been up and running, this is where my family and I does our bulk grocery shopping. This WinCo is much cleaner and much more organized than the other one on the other side of town; however, I still visit both locations as WinCo is my preferred store for grocery shopping. I have never had a bad experience with the staff at any of my visits here and I know that some of the staff from the other WinCo has also transferred at this location. The cashiers are always pleasant and they even have self check out which is a plus when we just grab a few items. You can always find great deals here compared to other grocery stores on almost everything and they are the only grocery stores that one of my ex-coworkers told me about that sell Mint/Peanut Butter flavored balls for dogs. Also, WinCo is open 24hrs so that's definitely a plus!!! read more
