It's always nice to come and grab my Mexican essentials when I need them. However, I decided to buy some flowers for my grandma and as the pictures show there's 2 prices on there, when I went to the cashier she charged me $22 dollars and even when I showed her where I got them she just shrugged and didn't even bother to call a manager to give it to me at the prices listed. Today April 17 I went to Vallarta as I always do and I have always have a bad experience at the registers I always go in for my packets of tortillas and today when I went to go check out I was on self check out and asked a worker for help she said she was busy but there was really not so many people and I always get helped right where she is at she then sent me to register one where her other worker tried to charge me for more tortilla packets then I had and when I mentioned I was only taking 28 and it was also written on the receipt I got from the tortillas place there and there was 56 being charged they where both laughing at me trying to scam me adding way more bags then I had until I explained to them that they where wrong and they just laughed again and then removed the addition charge . When I went to the director of the market and when I explained my situation he didn't do anything to resolve my problem so that's why I'm leaving this review it's not okay to try and charge people for more then what they are taking and having bad costumer service. Next time they should really look at what the costumer has and not just charge what ever they feel like read more

Mom wanted to go to Vallarta so I brought her here. There are not many groceries that fry your fish for you if you ask them to (for an extra $1 per pound). The service we received at the Pescaderia department was exceptional. While waiting for our fish to be fried, Mom and I shopped around and browsed the rest of the grocery store. Bought some of their baked goods at their Panaderia. Those empanada pastries were delicious! Mom got some veggies and fruits from their produce department. We also purchased meat at their Carniceria department. By the time we finished grocery shopping, our fried fish was ready. Vallarta has a nice grocery store here. Good service provided to us. Prices were very affordable. Grocery was clean inside. Security was present. They even have self-checkout stations available. I have a feeling that I'll be taking my Mom here more often for grocery shopping. read more

I recently visited Vallarta Market searching for items that i needed for a cooking class that required hibiscus; also known as Jamaica in Spanish. And i have to say, Vallarta carries quality produce and unique Mexican items that are almost impossible to find in other supermarkets. I love how they carry such a huge variety of beans and dry goods. I was so excited to find all the items that i needed. My only complaint about this location is their tight and messy parking lot. This is a great place to shop for hispanic foods that you cannot find in regular groceries stores. They have fair prices and sometimes things go on sale. There is great customer service. Sometimes there is a long line but some workers can get the items scanned in no time. read more

If you have some type of mobility disability & you only have crutches like me after my foot surgery go elsewhere they have no electric carts for their customers with special needs & that's awful so it was very hard for me to grab the couple of things I needed I'm from another part of town but I thought it would be convenient to stop at this store after I hobbled inside & couldn't find an electric wheelchair carts I regretted it lol but besides that the store was clean customer service friendly & produce was fresh they would of gotten 5 stars if they would have so accommodation for people with special needs or elder customers they didn't even offer to help me out lol read more

I came here a week ago while visiting my family in Bakersfield around 4th of July , and prior to that I had always wanted to stop into a Vallarta to check out their produce and bakery section. It has a large parking lot in a shared shopping center. I came in on a Tuesday morning and it was not busy at all. It was bright , clean , and beautiful. I can't believe I'm using that word to describe a grocery store. I took tons of photos but decided to just post 2 because I wanted to save my Yelp friends their thumbs as they would be liking a lot of photos. I enjoyed their Pandulce, it was soft and baked fresh . Their salsa was not that great but their Pico de Gallo was delicious. They make their own thick chips and those were devoured as well. I could go to this place just to stare at all the counter service foods. They have a carneceria, taqueria, panaderia, and just about every other counter service offering you can think of! Usually I go to the Carreta but they close early so when I can't go there Vallarta is the next best place to go to get pan dulce or billions and anything else Mexican items you can think of. I love this place. I think Bako has 3 locations and I live nowhere near any of them but when nearby on errands or whatever, I take this opportunity to go in. Just too much good stuff. I had 7 smallish things on my list that turned into a $122 visit. :( I was hungry! I love the bakery here, the deli, the fish... the meat, the grocery. I recently found some mango jam at another V location and I cannot wait to open it. I love mango anything. I can only find PAN here - it is a corn flour for making arepas. There are other types I can find elsewhere but this stuff is the best for us for Latin American cooking. The store mid Friday thankfully was not that busy. Staff were neither friendly or un-friendly. Fine with me - I just wanted to look, buy and I could have stayed there all day. The booze is cheap. At the register, you just have to get someone to unlock the case to get what you need. A bit of a pain but I suppose they have to do what they have to do to prevent theft. I like the produce here a LOT. They have exotic things that are interesting and everything looks fresh. I like to buy my plantains here. Speaking of mangoes, they were 4 for a buck here. Great! I am already making my list to go back. I went in to order from their restaurant section and they denied me to order. I came in an hour before they close the entire store. I asked to order potato wedges and they said they ran out and they're not making anymore because they cleaned their fryer and threw out the ones they had. I worked food before and we were taught to keep the restaurant running UNTIL they close not ONE HOUR BEFORE. Why does it stay still open but when you go order they deny items. I could understand if they ran out but NO. They DENIED because they are LAZY!!!!!!! Dont go to this vallarta!!! Others are the same. Not only that but this same restaurant sold me rotten cheese. Don't shop at this store. Their staff is entirely incompetent. Every time I come in here the security guard tells me to leave. I don't know what I did wrong. The first time they gave me some story like that I was seen outside their other location asking for money and that they asked me to leave then. This never happened. Today they actually refused me service. They literally followed me to the checkout and forced the cashier to refuse me service there. When I asked them what I did wrong they just tell me I'm trespassing. They literally don't have a story. The guard actually had the gall to threaten to mace me and call the police. The only thing I can guess is discrimination. I am a transgender woman. I am a paying customer and my parents and I shop there often but suddenly they started following me throughout the store and harassing me. I feel like I'm living in a police state. I don't feel safe. Love love love shopping here especially when I'm making chili verde or tamales. All the ingredients are available and fresh. They have an amazing meat department that's super clean organized and reasonably priced. There are some strange items like beef head, chicken feet and lambs head which I'd never cook but we just move on to what we need. The produce department is so organized and the stacks of produce is so strategically placed you almost don't want to touch it that it might fall. But everything is fresh and reasonable too. Our biggest treat is eating at the food counter and they give you huge portions so go hungry. They are just super slow at the ordering counter. Next to the food counter is where they're making fresh tortillas that you can't go without. My only problem is most of the time everyone is speaking Spanish and I speak none. Vallartas most certainly beats any American or ethnic market I've ever been to. Had there not been a market behind the clown making balloon animals and a DJ poppin' Mexican music outside, I would have thought I was at a Mexican fiesta of some sort. Before even walking in the entrance, the automatic doors opened up, revealing a impeccably clean and organized grocery store. I jaw nearly dropped, as no ethnic market has ever exceeded my expectations as this. The fruit and produce were all arranged in its proper places with great presentation. The ground was clean as a whistle. The workers were helpful and smiling. And, to add further to my surprise, the workers were all fluent in English. ENGLISH! At a Mexican market! Their butchers were all very pleasant and willing to help. Clothed in white with a hardhat on each head, my butcher grabbed 4 pounds of marinated chicken thighs for me. All for the low, dirt cheap price of 99 cents per pound. Needless to say, I'm in love with Vallartas. Their selection is plentiful, and their atmosphere is spectacular. They make grocery shopping fun. And by the way, their marinated chicken is kick ass! read more

Hands Down Best Grochery store, probably ever. I love this place, everything is so clean and well organized and the produce section is amazing. I especially like the meat department-you can actually see them butchering the cows and pigs right there! So fresh! We always buy carne asada when we go-it is marinated so perfectly and makes an amazing dinner. They also have a large seafood selection and everything looks so amazing and the prices are great! This place just stay away from it! First, store is very small and crowded, with a service that just sucks. They dont sell everything or have everything available like the bigger Vallartas. Cleanliness is not the best, I dont know what it is but out of the last 3 times I visited 2 had a dingy and yucky smell. The service suck, huge lines with long wait and I had freezer items. Only 4 cashiers and like 3 other registers closed go figured. Cashier while I was paying mixed my items with another customer that was behind me. The customer behind me ask for her stuff so they started looking in my bags but they just decided to flip and smash my bread and cookies to get to 1lb. of meat, what the F**#. This really made me mad the cashier should have finish my transaction first so this does not happen. Parking here sucks, if you have a small compact car or a bike you may be OK but a medium to larger car you will get door dings because its crowded and compact parking spaces.
