Great prices for a couple hundred bucks I get a lot more groceries than if I shopped Albertsons

My husband didn't want to eat what I was cooking for dinner so he ordered himself a pizza at Winco. He placed his order at a kiosk and had it baked there instead of taking it home. My husband is pretty classic and just got a cheese pizza. He wanted to do half and half but it wasn't an option. One of the cons of ordering off a kiosk instead of a person. The pizza was handed to us right from the oven. Piping hot! That baby was loaded with cheese. Not one dry spot on the pizza! It did cool a bit by the time we got home but the cheese pull was still there! For a grocery store pizza, it's actually pretty good! This pizza was 10 bucks and an extra dollar to have them bake it for you. Can't go wrong with an 11 dollar pizza. No delivery fee. No tip needed. You cactus beat that! read more

Winco is on my weekly grocery shopping rotation for the last 5 years. Prices are so good. Store layout is easy to shop. They carry most items for both big brands and a Winco brand that's top notch. Plus bin shopping for lots of staples and goodies, grind your own coffee, deli, bakery, sushi, pizza to go, and more. You can feel the discount vibe in places - bag your own groceries- but overall it's a higher class discount market. Preferred items that beat out competitors - sushi, fried chicken, deli cheeses selection, premade pizza to bake at home, and bakery breads and bagels baked in store. I prefer their fresh baked bagels to any speciality bagel store. Items lacking - deli sliced meats not great and lack of cake offerings, plus the packaged bakery baked sweets not that great. Lower selection of some item variety but not that many items I cannot find. Love the produce area, good quality and prices. Paper towels are my fav, price is so low! Staples are cheaper here (canned, jars, dry items like pasta, oatmeal, peanut butter, etc.) than anywhere else. Great selection of grab and go meals at excellent prices. Prices have been terrible on eggs here lately. Watch signs for a price for 1 box of eggs but in small print they charge much more for the 2nd or more box of eggs the same size. I went in to get my usual items and the meat selection was bare. I went to the dairy section and they had decided to stop carrying the butter brand I need & they only had one option for egg nog (1 week before Xmas. I headed over to another section and on my way a person working at the bakery saw me coming down the isle and swung her cart infront of mine blocking the isle so that I had to quickly turn my cart to avoid a collision. When I got to the register (the only one open) they had one boy working who didn't greet me and clearly was new at his job and needed guidance from a supervisor but there was not one around. A very disappointing experience that I wasn't expecting from Winco. read more

Unfortunately Im starting to see a trend. I've gone through a checkstand with a sticking quantity number. Ie- your buying 44 items, instead of the 4 in the cart. When I went back for a refund they knew this issue was occuring and the checkstand was still in use when they had many other check stands they could be using. The other issue is being rang up twice on a single item, because the clerk is pausing to talk to someone else and forgetting what she ran over the scanner already. Both issues have cost me time and money which is frustrating. I tried to explain this to one of the ladies that happened to over charge me by ALOT, and her response was an eye roll. No sorry about that, or any empathy at all. Literally she couldn't have cared any less about it. Pretty disappointing for a store that prides itself on customer service. The attitude of some of the employees Apparently the time and satisfaction of the shoppers mean absolutely nothing to some of the employees at the winco on state street and hi way 55 a few employees that is a service industry there own time and satisfaction is placed above the shoppers and me and my small family spend over 150 to 250 multiple times a week is treated like our money does not mean a damn thing so I will be taking my money elsewhere until this changes and these employees know who they are and so does the middle manager that I spoke to so far I encountered this in the pizza service area at this store I have been receiving better service from Walmart up the street so I will take my money and business there until Winco places the consumers that pay their paychecks ahead of their own needs and concerns read more

The produce section is currently experiencing an infestation of flies. Especially the potatoes. Don't bother telling the manager because he we literally say he doesn't care to your face. I don't enjoy baked potatoes with maggots in them, I wonder if the Health Inspector does? *UPDATE* The flies are finally gone, next time keep up with sanitation and don't scoff at complaints from your customers. read more

Yep it's a grocery store. The layout is like most. Start with a stroll through the produce section and finishes up with the dairy then bread. You guessed it. Everything else is in between. I would say the produce, meat and bakery are all average or above. They do sell a lot of things that I don't use, so I don't buy those items. I won't take a star away for that. Example, you won't find a box of scalloped potatoes in my pantry but thanks to Winco's produce section you will find the occasional scalloped potatoes on my table. More importantly they sell a lot of items that I do use. Shopping to put dinner on the table for 4 to 6 people daily, I like being able to bulk out my shopping list then only short visits to other grocery stores when needed. They seem to have plenty of locations and frankly the staff is pretty darn friendly. I will show some pictures of the different sections in Winco. Would I recommend? Depends! In terms of merchandise there were some deals and some things that were over priced. Large selection of bulk foods. If you are able bodied it's fairly good. If not it may be painful frustrating and inaccessible. Two days later and I'm still in pain. I have a gnarly back injury that leaves me being able to do a little bit of everything but not much of anything. But I could not do in this store was dig something out of a bullpen that was behind another book them. Yes, they are arranged two deep. I also can't remain vertical for any significant amount of time which led to problem number two. I was coming to the end of my ability to stand and walk so I headed for the checkout only to be surprised by having to bag my own groceries. I had a cart full and since I've mastered the art of leaning on my trunk or lifting I knew I could get them in the car but pinched a nerve standing trying to grab things and put them in the stupid frustrating plastic bags. I might have been able to complete my trip without going Lameif there had been an electric cart but there were none inside. I noticed one plugged it in while I was checking out and it was gone by the time I finished checking out. My best guess is they only have one. So for me I would not go again unless I was with someone who could help. It was certainly no help available in the store. read more

I called yesterday in desperate need of fresh dill because I was not able to find some at Albertson's fo Fred Meyer. I spoke with Jeff at the State Street Winco who was very helpful. He was unalbe to get any response for the porduce department so he sent someone to check for me and called me back to let me know they had some. Thank you Jeff for going the extra mile to help me. Everyone at this store is very helpful, kind and pleasant. Great merchandise and organized. Great place to shop. I wish it was closer to me. read more

I came. I saw. I shopped a little. I may be back to shop some more but it will be a long time away. This warehouse shopping experience, in the mode of Costco meets Groceries, relying mostly on processed big brand names isn't a fit for me. Still, this deserves four stars since the downsides here have to do with my preferences and not Winco or their performance. I may not be a fan for four stars in Yelp speak, but on a five point scale from A to F, this is definitely solid B worthy for what it is. SERVICE: I have followed Winco in business news reporting and then in reading Yelp reviews decided it was time to go in and expereince shopping there myself. I was surprised to find the big warehouse format. I guess I was expecting something more like "Albertsons meets Whole Foods"...say like Eugene's Market of Choice. (Which is a fit for me...MOC.) Alas, more big box-ish but that this is employee owned is evident in the pride of work there that every employee communicated in their customer service. Very nice. FACILITY: Brightly lit, wide aisles, good directional overhead signage and a HUGE parking lot to accomodate the swarms of shoppers. Shoppers of all walks of life from well heeled matrons with blouse collar turned up just so and perfectly coiffed, to young parents with multiple little ones in tow, to senior citizens getting off a senior center transport bus, to teens to... PRODUCT FOCUS: The produce section is huge but the organic section is miniscule. There are aisles and aisles and aisles of products in commercial brands like Betty Crocker, Van de Camps, Hunts, Campbell's and so on but not much at all in the smaller name, organic brands my husband and I prefer. That said, we did find things to buy like Mrs. Meyer's soap and Kashi frozen pizzas and Sambal Olek and raw nuts from the 'bin item' section. Which is worth a mention on it's own. BULK BINS: This is the most extensive selection of bulk food items I have ever seen in a grocery of any kind. From all varieites of dried beans, to nuts, to candies, to individuall wrapped tea bags, to powdered gravy mix, to powdered cheese, to flours and whole grains to...mind boggling. Worth a trip in just to see it. And if you are doing a kids' party and want to use candy in jars on the table as edible centerpiece, this is the place for a ginourmous selecttion of bulk candy! PRICES: Since we don't buy many of the products stocked in this store, we can't be a good gauge of their 'low price' reputation. But on the things we bought we thought the prices were on the low side of our expectations. That's a good thing. THIS N THAT 1) PARKING: Part of the huge lot was being resurfaced on the day of our visit making parking hard to come by even early afternoon on a weekday. I imagine even with the entire parking lot available, weekends and after work hours would be a bear to find a spot. 2) ACCESSIBILITY: A few accessible (aka ADA) spots in the lot but not enough to meet the mere minimum requirements of ADA and Idaho Code. Shameful for lot owner. Level in the store and throughout with lots of space in the aisles. 3) CASH or DEBIT CARD ONLY: No checks or charge. 4) BAG YOUR OWN: You'll need to bag your own groceries here. We showed up on opening day and we've been regulars ever since. Sure, it's close. But, more importantly, this store offers consistently good service and products. I love the bulk foods section, where I grind my own peanut butter. Produce always looks nice. I find this particular location to be much cleaner than other WinCo stores in the Treasure Valley. Prices at WinCo compare favorably to every store in the area. Staff is friendly and attentive. Couldn't ask for more! Well, I guess I can: I would love it if they'd sell leeks individually (by the pound) instead of in a big bunch. I'd buy two or three each visit, but the whole handful at once is just too much. read more

Every time I walk into this store I become loss. When you first walk in you see the produce at the end of the isle. But as you make your left you have a row of chips and dips. So far so good. But then comes the next several isles of stuff, deodorant, cleaning supply's and whatever else that always confuses me! Why not put that stuff at the other end of the store along with water, soda, and whatever. I spend more time walking Winco, which isn't a bad thing, but it takes me forever to find the beans and canned tomatoes. ( if there is any left). So let's stroll over to the freezer isle, no vegetables and the shelves are a mess. I'm so confused in this store I have decided to come early in the morning with my sweats on and slippers! I love Winco! Prices are amazing, lowest I've found in this area on almost everything! I've been shopping here for 3 years and I'll never go anywhere else. The staff are always friendly and helpful. I'd like to put a personal shout out to Bobbi. Bobbi is genuinely kind and provides excellent customer service. Bobbi always gives my kiddos stickers and big smiles. I'll will wait in Bobbi's line even if it's the longest just to have her treat us to an excellent customer service experience. This WinCo really shows the positive power of an employee-owned company. Been to several in Boise - crazy one on Fairview with the lady and her Cabbage Patch baby, the one downtown and now this one in Eagle. Have always been wowed by the selection, freshness and prices, but TODAY, as I watched a customer at the checkout line in front of me try to pay for her food with food stamps and a lot of sweet talk (and not succeeding) - the cashier didn't bat an eyelash. She weighed my produce (I was next in line and was only waiting for less than 2 minute), wrote a note - then politely asked me to go to the Customer Service counter where they rang me up right away - no questions asked. No waiting, no rolling of the eyes, no wishing for the second coming of Christ. If Boise traffic were only this good. read more

Winco is the grocery store to get low priced food. Based upon my experience the prices are lower than Walmart, in general. I find myself going to Winco, Costco, and Cash and Carry. Each stores have the best pricing depending upon what you're buying and the amount you want to buy I have been living in Idaho my entire life and Winco was the store my family used. I even remember before it was employee owned and it was called Ware-Mart, which wasn't good times for the company. But ever since it was employee owned it's improved significantly and I would say it's the best grocery store in terms of low priced food items. The model of Winco is to sell high turn over items in large quantities. Unlike Costco the groceries are normal sized. Because of their strategy the prices are fairly low. However, this also means they don't have all the varieties of various brands. If you're wanting something in particular that doesn't sell as well, you might have to go to Albertsons or Fred Meyers. The fresh groceries are decent, but you do need to pay attention to make sure you get the freshest. The establishment is always kept clean and maintained. The employees are always busy, but they are helpful whenever you ask to find something. read more

This is by far my favorite winco. It's the biggest and there is tons of space. The aisles are huge and wide so there never over-crowded. They also seem to have things the other winco's don't. And of course there prices and customer service is right on par with the rest of the winco. I would go here more often but it's not the closest to me so it's only on occasion but most of the time it's worth the trip read more

I looooove WinCo!!! I spend at least $250-$300 a week there for my preschool! Yes, it's a lot of work to put it in the cart, put on the belt, pack it up, put it on a cart at the preschool and put it all away! I save so much $ though!!! I have switched to the WinCo in Eagle and everyone there knows me and we have fun! Tina is amazing!!! She stops what she's doing and scans all the things in my cart she can to help me out! She is extremely efficient and gets that I just wanna go fast! Everyone makes fun of me since I'm usually dressed up being the owner of a preschool and I'm moving my cart like a boss!! Wonderful company. Always clean, well stocked and very friendly employees. I'm elderly and sometimes not feeling well, and twice now an employee just comes up quietly and helps load my groceries, then TAKES them clear out to the car and places the bags inside the car. I've been shopping at WinCo since the first very little store opened on Overland Road... Now, I live only two blocks from the store at State and Horseshoe Bend Road, so I'm there a couple times a week. Everyone is so nice and they are happy and very polite too. I just heard that one opened in Tulsa, Oklahoma -- so I told my cousin to be sure and give it a try. Oh, and they have paper bags too if you want them and forgot to bring your own carrier. After going to Walmart for many year (being from Arkansas) we switched to Winco and here is why: the prices are much lower and better, much closer for the folks in Eagle. A great community of staff who are much more friendly and helping you out compared to Walmart where we got no help and there's workers weren't treated well. A great grocery store for families. I wish there is a winco where I live!!! The prices are amazing and there's such a large selection. Anything you could possibly want is here. The chip selection was impressive. The grocery staples are stocked there and the prices are unbeatable. Shopping here has dramatically reduced my grocery bill as it has allowed me to steer clear of Costco much more. While Costco has great product and prices, I tend to overbuy. At Winco, I dont overbuy. I buy what I need... for a great price. I was absolutely delighted when Winco moved to this location! I bake bread a lot so I love the bulk items of flour, grains, yeast, etc. The produce is usually very good and fresh. The prices on everything else just can't be beat, and I shop here often. I also like bagging my own groceries and then I know where everything is when I get home. Winco Eagle has earned my loyalty. Everyone is so helpful and friendly. Winco's prices are the lowest that I have seen in the valley. The icing on the cake is the experience I had yesterday when I returned several grapefruit that I thought were too sour. The lady at the Customer service desk gave me all my money back (on the grapefruit I purchased) even though I did not return all the grapefruit (I ate several). Besides that she told me to go back to produce and if I found some grapefruit that I wanted to buy that they would be free of charge.....just to let the cashier know. I have never, in my life, been to a store that was so accommodating to a customer who had a return. Unlike other stores, they must realize what an inconvenience it is to a customer, to return something.....you have to save the receipt, remember to bring the item back (that can be a problem!) plus the disappointment that the item is not what you expected. I am soooooo appreciative that Winco recognizes this and goes the extra mile to make up for the inconvenience.
