Now that I have some power in the van, I can have food onboard again. I stopped at the Winco for bread, creamer, cheese and some sliced turkey. Hooray! The store is decently laid out and organized. I found the prices to be okay and the shelves were neatly stocked. I can appreciate the bare concrete floors - my cart worked well but it was a bit slippy here with a spill that had been tracked. They kicked me out of the self checkout because I had 20 items and not 15. She said it was because of the gravy packets. Then they kicked out the lady behind me with 17 items. There were many self checkout stands available, likely because they were booting everyone out of them. That is so wrong! That is such bad business! I called the store and ended up speaking with the assistant manager who really had no authority, she said she would put in a suggestion, but she said some stores only allow 10 items and she wishes they would get rid of those self checkouts altogether. I understand people going there with full carts, but to nitpick on a few small items is coming from a poverty mentality and completely missing the point. Since I usually only shop for a few things, I will not be giving them my business. read more

Why aren't the self check out lanes used when the store is busy? Today while two check out lanes were staffed and long lines of people with full carts waited, the self check out stations were empty. I entered but was turned away because I had a few more than 15 items. (the bottom of my cart wasn't even covered) So for the next several minutes while I waited in the long, slow moving line for a checker, the self check out stations sat empty having no more than 2 of the 7 being used at any time! What is that about!! If this is your "store policy" you need to rewrite your rules! This was a waste of everyone's time and resources. I was in the store at least 12-15 minutes more than necessary, the checker had to check my groceries when I'm perfectly able, and the self check outs stood empty! Meanwhile the woman who turned me away just stood in one place with a scowl looking at the empty stations the entire time I was in line (which was several minutes!) doing absolutely nothing! Fix this WinCo! Your poor management and broken "store policy" sucks! read more

The last two days, self check outs were closed to cash customers. I was told at the service desk that this may be permanent. Decided to go somewhere else, with two item in may cart, no 15 items or less line, and full shopping carts at every checkout coming into Thanksgiving. read more

I was using a handicap cart. one of the clerks noticed the battery in the cart was running low. He stopped me and said he was going to get me another cart. He did just that. i thought that was great. Before that, I was at FRED MEYERS. I seen a clerk and told her my battery went dead. Her reply was "JUST LEAVE IT THERE, SOMEONE WILL COME BY AND GET IT LATER. MY CART WAS FULL OF GROCERIES. i DO NOT WALK VERY GOOD." I don't what she was thinking, What about all of the groceries that was in my cart. Also how do I get out of the store? Grants Pass, Or. 8:15a. One check stand open with a line of full baskets. Self check with one being used. Started my checkout and was told I couldn't check out there because I had more than 15 items. I hadn't counted but I had 18. I had to go back to other line. Called the manager that said that was their policy. At 80 years old I don't need that crap. They just lost a customer. read more

If you intend to purchase any alcohol regardless of your age, leave your kids in the car, hide your significant others who left their wallets at home. WinCo will not let you purchase alcohol, if ANYONE they deem to be in your party does not have their ID on them. I can't imagine having to get a babysitter to buy a 6 pack or a bottle of wine. It was an embarrassing situation to be turned away at the register because someone with me forgot their wallet. My friend was profiled as being younger which doesn't help either, they never even bothered to ask how we were related or who the drinks were for. This is all regardless of the employee already having checked MY iD as they should have when I was attempting to purchase the drinks. Wanted some light drinking and chocolate after a hard day at work and it suddenly turned into a frustrating waste of time and I went home empty handed. This may not be the clerks fault so much as whoever is training them. For the most part the clerk was very well mannered and polite but then the vigilante in them came out, refusing to sell to me as if they were saving lives out her in the WinCo self checkout line. Instead of me OR the clerk getting a manager I left as my frustrations were rising and no compromise was going to be made or entertained it seemed. I have been to this exact WinCo more times than I can count with this same person in tow too, not once has this issue come up. As a registered bartender, I'm well aware of the laws and regulations so the clerk had the right to refuse service if she felt I was giving the alcohol to a minor but she didn't ask me any questions, didn't propose a manager get involved, I was just told that I was SOL. Maybe some new policy has been put in place, maybe I just lucked out with a clerk who thought I was just a bad character but either way, my experience at WinCo was absurd so take this as a cautionary tale I guess. read more

WinCo is a Winner in my book. Came for the first time ever, as I am new to the area. I've never been inside a WinCo before. They kind of remind me of a combination grocery store, with a bulk type store like Costco. A lot of their stuff was in bulk, but they also have small quantities too, and even single serve items. Nice combination of everything. But what made me love the place? The fantastic DEALS! I am a frugal shopper, and good prices will always have me coming back for more. They had such good prices on so many different things!!! WOW. And unlike Grocery Outlet where prices are low but items are near expiration, this place has fresh items! They also have tons and tons of variety on everything. So many choices. Great fresh fruits and veggies and meat and bakery goods. I'll be coming back for sure!! read more

No sanitation stations. No one checking the number of patrons in the place. It was a nightmare in there. People were literally rubbing shoulders because there were so many people in there. Today was not a good day at WinCo. I was third in line for the self-checkout. The man who was first in line looked physically uncomfortable but was letting the second person go in front of him, and then he let me go in front of him. That was when I realized the problem. Only half the machines were giving cash. Now I ask you how hard is it to fill all the cash machines, so this man did not have to wait? The answer may be, we already have customers checking themselves out for free let's save more money and cut down on armored car deliveries. We will wait and see what the excuse is. read more

Winco is great. It's the place to go to stretch your food budget. It's awesome having a 24 hour option. Service has been so-so. Some employees are helpful, others not so much. Usually use the self checkout. When the machine gets stuck and the person in charge of the self checkout has to come to unlock it, it can be very annoying. You can't scan anything else until they come unlock it. There's been a couple times where the person ignored me or wandered away and I was just standing there waiting around. I always buy the fresh grind it yourself peanut butter. The machine gets clogged constantly. It seems like they never or very rarely clean/do maintenance on the machines. But this is the only place around that has it. There's a few products that I can only find here. They keep me coming back. The Winco fresh cut cheese is a great deal and great quality. The pepperjack and Colby are my favorites. If the deli is open they will slice/shred any of the cheese for you for free. read more

Entered Winco 4/1/20. No Wipes, so I asked the employee at the front door, Do you have any disinfectant wipes. She said Sorry we ran out. I said you were out 2 weeks ago.She said there are none in the warehouse. I said,but you sell, and can buy this type of product. She then wanted to argue with me, and I was being nice. Finally, I said, To see how little a large company like Winco cares about this pandemic, is Alarming, and Irresponsible. Thank you. If that were true, that they are all out of product, there are things they could do, like dilute rubbing alcohol with water, put in spray bottles, and supply paper towels at the very least. The store WinCo located in Grants Pass has a good selection of goods for its size. HOWEVER..., it would seem the only product that is fresh and not expired is only the product that is front facing on the shelves. Everything behind seems to be expired. It appears that the store does not properly rotate inventory so WATCH OUT! You may be buying food that's 2+ yrs old. Also, it would seem checkout is exhaustingly long as only 1-2 registers will be open and the "about 15 items" self checkout will be swamped by people who can't count nor read the sign as they take their time scanning in upwards to 56 items here. Hopefully you are patient because the workers here have a lack of caring for these occurrences and proper STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES. It's a good store but be carful what your buying and be ready to wait in line. read more

This is my favorite grocery store! The prices are competitive with Walmart. They have almost anything you can think of. I love the bulk sections. You can make your own peanut butter, pour your own honey etc. They have lots of organic options, a huge produce section and tons of affordable gluten free options. They put Albertsons, Vons and Ralfs to shame. read more

An excellent and much needed addition to Grants Pass. Helpful, courteous employees and a good selection at very good prices. I do most of my shopping here. Good selection generally, and the best bulk food choices I've seen. Deli lunch meats at probably the best price in town, pretty good selection of craft beer, good everyday meat and produce, and a good large parking lot. Store is always very clean, and if you can't find an item, an employee will cheerfully lead you to it. A really well run store! read more

Wish there was paper towel in the bathroom and some of the produce quality is sub-par. Whenever I get a tub of greens it goes bad way more quickly than competitors. Rats! I saw not one, but TWO mice wandering around behind the bins in the bulk food section today! I followed a trail of droppings which lead behind one of the bins and heard some chewing sounds. When I looked closer I saw them. A furry little mouse peering up at me with a kernel of corn in his paws and another one hiding under a candy bar wrapper with nothing but his tail sticking out. Besides having a large amount of unhealthy foods we have heard, from many current and past employees (a family member being one of them) that this establishment treats their employees terrible. If you do some research you will see that it is not really an employee owned company as advertised. They deny them a lunch break after working 6 hours which Oregon law states is mandatory, they keep them all part time so they don't have to offer benefits or more pay. Most employees here have told us they have to get a second job because they will not give them full time hours to meet their bills! Their employees are not treated as humans...they are just numbers on a spreadsheet. Too bad...won't shop there anymore. read more
