Last Thanksgiving my husband and I cooked Thanksgiving dinner for 15 people. I ordered the best organic free-range turkey that Natural Grocer sells. I think I was the first person to place my order that year. I ordered a 16 pound turkey. I intended to cook it in my Oster Roaster, which yields a very moist, almost rotisserie - style result. I was one of the first people to get to Natural Grocers to pick up my turkey. When I got there the person bringing the turkeys out from the back brought out a huge 22+ pound turkey and said this was all she had left. I protested that I had reserved a 16 pound bird and that I didn't need a 22 pound turkey. She looked at me in a very un-compassionate way and said, "This is all we've got. Take it or leave it." I took it because I had to feed 15 people on Thanksgiving and they wanted turkey and dressing!!! My husband and I brined it in the 24 hours before Thanksgiving. It's a good thing that we did because a 22 pound turkey was far too large for our Oster Roaster. The lid would not close!!! OMGosh. Michael and I just looked at each other in horror. We knew all the sides that we had planned to prepare and cook partly in our oven while the turkey was roasting in the Oster. We put it in the oven to roast and within an hour the skin had turned dark black. Michael asked, "What are we going to do?" I said "Cook the dang bird. Then we'll take the skin off and pray that it is moist underneath." In the meantime we got to work in the kitchen on all the sides. Now bear in mind, an Oster Roaster cooks a perfectly tender, moist turkey in far less time than roasting it in a convection oven. We had no idea if that turkey was going to be done by the time our guests started arriving. We just persevered. What else could we do? I will admit that we considered serving them steaks, which we would've had to defrost but we decided that somehow we would pull a rabbit out of the hat. In this case, an edible turkey. When our probe timer told us the internal temperature was where it needed to be, we removed our totally black turkey from the oven. Michael said to me, "I'll handle this. You finish the sides." I gave him a huge platter, at his request, and carving knives and -- with immense relief -- continued to work on everything else, all of which were completed right on time. Our guests began to arrive and I plyed them with good wine, which made them very happy. I said nothing about what we had gone through that day and, in a few minutes, Michael walked in from the outer kitchen with the huge turkey platter arranged perfectly. My brilliant husband had removed all the skin and arranged the white meat on 3/4 of the platter and the dark meat on the remaining 1/4 just like a caterer. It was PERFECT!!! I told the guests to help themselves and I went to my room, shut the door, and collapsed. I didn't know it but Michael did the same thing. We had been under so much stress that neither of us could eat a single bite. One of our guests was Matt Sheehan, a gifted local chiropractor (Family Chiropractic). He came to my room and worked on me for about 30 minutes and I was restored. (Did I mention he is gifted?) When I came out everyone was raving about the food. Michael and I were both very relieved about that but the stress we had been under because of the turkey was awful. We made our minds up right then that we would never buy another turkey from Natural Grocers ever again. If you can't trust them to honor the advance reservation that you make for a turkey for such an important day ... well, you can't trust them at all. This year I bought a beautiful fresh Mary's organic turkey for $2.99 per pound at ShopNCart in Ashland with no stress at all, I am very pleased to report. A friend of ours is going to smoke it for us and, believe me, he is a world class smoker. When one door closes, another opens!!!! Happy Thanksgiving!!! read more

We love natural grocers and were so happy to find one in the area. The employees are helpful and friendly. The store has a great selection of organic produce, love the book area and also that they sell dry goods in extra large bulk bags. Supplement section is great, personal care product section is great. And I think it's nice that they don't use plastic bags and offer cardboard boxes to reduce plastic waste. read more

Came here looking for Unscented, alcohol-free lotion and left with that and more! Excellent body care section as well as health and wellness section. Large grocery, and books as well! This was a really cool natural food store. The prices were very similar to my local natural grocer in Redding, CA. I loved that the produce section was really large and full of a variety of vegetables. They have any ice cream you can think of...vegan, paleo, organic...brands I've never even heard of, which is a huge plus. Also, what I loved is that the bulk grocery section had lots to offer. The frozen meat section was also surprising and they had ground ostrich, ground boar, ground bison and many other rare finds, not to mention they had a wild caught shrimp for 10.99 which doesn't exist where I stay. They have a pretty decent beer/wine selection that is located to their cosmetics department which is an entire section of the store, bigger than any other natural food store I've been to. They also have a bathroom and I would say are wheelchair accessible. The only reason I didn't give five stars is because there is no deli and the ready made food selection doesn't really exist. read more

Natural grocers is a clean and well organized store. They have a really nice produce section that has competitive prices. I like the staff, they have always been friendly and helpful. I wish they had fresh bread and more meat selections though, i dont like buying frozen bread is one of the only downfalls. They carry higher end organic and natural products. read more

I've been a member for the past several years and recently had a surgery with a very difficult recovery. I called to ask if anyone there could kindly grab 3 items I need very much, and a MOD there was not willing to help. I understand it's after curbside hours (I just learned this) but since it was just 3 items, I had hoped someone there would be willing to help during this very difficult time. The Ashland COOP was more helpful. I spend a lot of money at Natural Grocers and just disheartened with the cold response that was given. If I had the help for someone else to have gone in the store for me, I would have done that. Be kind to others...you never know what they're facing. read more

They have things that no one else in town carries. Their prices are a little high, but definitely less expensive than paying shipping for items. They seem to take chances on some cool new products that other stores won't. read more

I love shopping here for foods I can't get anywhere else (specifically for my health and dietary requirements) and the staff is always so friendly. My kiddos always love shopping here, especially because of one of their staff members who gives them coloring pages and stickers (so cute). It's a small and simple shop which I love, and easy to navigate. Definitely shop here for alternative and healthy products! read more

I was in a hurry, but I found that the staff were extremely friendly and quite helpful. And while I am not local to that particular location, I do pass through monthly so I will likely be stopping in again. I believe we do have one near here, I will have to check it out. Who knows maybe they had a rough day. The reason I give this place a five star because its the only place in Medford that sells healthy food. Its definitely the source. WOW!! 100% ALL ORGANIC PRODUCE!! This store is great! I was amazed at how big an open it was when I walked in the first time. The team is helpful yet seemed a little understaffed at the front end when I entered. the produce changes daily, so check in often to see what new items they have and get it while you can before it is gone. the prices are what you would expect when paying for organic stuff. The sale items are UNBEATABLE and their sales last for 6 weeks!! I asked to carry a certain item and two weeks later I was happily amazed that it was actually on the shelf. I'm visiting family from out of town and I wanted to grab some things from a natural food store. Where I'm from we are flooded with stores like this, so I have pretty high and unfortunately snobbish standards. For being in Medford this place is a gem. They almost carry a larger supply of vitamins and body care than what I'm used to back home, but the produce and deli area is not as extensive, but I still found everything I needed for my stop. Prices are reasonable, the aisle ways are large and roomy, I almost feel like they could fill this place up even more with all the empty space around the front part of the store. Also encountered friendly and helpful employees. This place rules! read more

Worst service. The worker literally walked away when I was in mid-sentence because I wasn't sure which essential oil I wanted the price on. I just wanted to know where the prices were since they weren't posted. When she walked away, I really didn't feel the need to spend my money where I was so unwelcomed. read more

It took me awhile to shop at Natural Grocers because it's somewhat out of the way for me and I'm a fan of Trader Joe's..... BUT it's worth going a little out of my way and I'm so glad they came to Medford! It's hard to find good fresh organic produce and ALL of the fresh fruit and veggies are organic at Natural Grocers. They also have a good selection of free range and organic meats, including Beef, Chicken, Lamb, Buffalo and even Duck! Granted a lot of these meats are frozen, but that just means that they will not be out of date. One of the things I'm super excited about is their FREE Cooking classes / Seminars! I went to my first one last week on the Paleo Diet and was so impressed with the teacher's expertise and knowledge, plus the samples were yummy! They have other ongoing free Healthy Cooking classes with free sampling....just sign up for their Newsletter or pop into their store, at the check-out counter, for a flyer of the latest upcoming Cooking Demos. I disagree that the emphasis of this store is on supplements. True they have a huge supplement department, but it is not the main emphasis. This store is very big (it was a furniture store previously) and they have approximately 4 aisles of supplements, but the rest of the store is all food-related. I find this store to be a welcome improvement to the organic/healthy shopping experience in Medford. I still go to Food 4 Less and Trader Joe's for various items, but Natural Grocers is my go-to place for all my fresh produce and meats. The staff is very friendly and they excel at Customer Service. A nice option to TJ's, which is close by. I was there on Mon around lunch time & help was plentiful as were available checkers. I was impressed by the selection of food & drinks. I found good deals on some of my favorite pre-packaged foods. Eggs, avocados, apples & bananas were also well-priced. Some good fresh produce, lots of frozen stuff, and a frighteningly large selection of "natural remedies." We were able to pick up some snap peas and a few other tasty snacks for the road; we couldn't find everything we were looking for, but got most of it. Everything was nicely fresh, and pretty flavorful. The Trader Joe's-style frozen foods looked promising as well. The aisles of echinacea, St. John's Wort, and the like didn't grab me, but looked clean and well-stocked. read more

I regularly do my shopping here. I love that they ONLY sell organic produce, always a great selection as well. They've been taking out certain brands that aren't following certain guidelines, like dairy products label "pasture raised" may not have their cows out in a pasture the minimum requirement of 180 days per year...so Natural Grocers doesnt sell that product. The prices are reasonable and the staff is very friendly! Always greeted when I come in. I would recommend this store to anyone. read more

Great store with super service. That said, we did not find it as full of great stuff as the Co-op in Ashland. Things we were hoping to find were replaced by things we didn't recognize. I wanted some GT's Kombucha and they had a couple flavors but they were not the black label that I was looking for. We bought a nice looking watermelon for the 4th of July BBQ and found it rotten inside. The service was really great and helpful, but the store just felt like a good idea not quite fully developed. Maybe we will try here again in a couple months to see if they have filled in the missing pieces. read more

I love the staff!!! They always run and open a check stand for anyone waiting in line and constantly apologize! Not like that's needed , but acknowledgment is GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE! For Southern Oregon this is a great natural grocery store, but compared to New seasons in Portland, And the Co-Op's around here it is limited. They do have some great fresh organic produce. They have good sales on packaged food, dairy, supplements , natural soap and so forth and so on. They have organic grass fed beef and such, but is pre- packaged as there is no meat counter. No fresh deli, bakery or seafood. So I like this store, but wish they had fresh deli, sandwiches, coffee bar and meats. The prices are on par with other types of organic grocery stores. The staff are friendly and helpful and they sell cool little knickknacks and stuff. Bring your own bags or use their recycled/re-use boxes. They do have cooking classes and other community gatherings. I do some of my shopping here. read more

By far my favorite grocery store. I was shopping at the Coop and Fred Meyer for organic gmo free foods. I still go to those places but they don't have the selection that Natural has. Great produce though not always the best pricing on that. So many things other stores just don't have. Awesome selection of vitamins and I especial love their assortment of non food items. A section just for things like soap, toothpaste, deodorant, natural oils and even a baby section. By far my favorite store since they came to town. I can feel good about my contribution the the environment knowing I'm supporting sustainable companys and products. read more

I LOVE this store! They seem to have literally everything I need which is so rare in a natural foods store. I'm constantly floored by how much stuff they have and there prices are totally reasonable. I've found items cheaper at Natural Grocer's than they are at Food for Less and all the other grocery stores in the area. The parking is great, the staff is always super friendly and I love that they have bag-less checkout! I go here for everything from our meats and produce, to my husbands protein powder and supplements. They even have a great assortment of bath and personal items, and the list goes on! I go here every time I get groceries. Considering that ALL of their produce is organic, they have a very wide selection and I've found that everything is more often fresh than not. When you get organic produce from other stores it's often sad and old and half rotten but I've have nothing but success at Natural Grocer's. Also, it's hard to find natural meats anywhere but at least they have a wide variety (be it frozen or not) It's virtually impossible to get any quality proteins other than chicken from other grocery stores so the fact that I can get buffalo, fish, and steak is just awesome. Forget the negative comments on here- I don't see what's not to like! I will definitely keep it as a regular grocery store! read more

We are from California and this grocer really helped us out during our trip. They carry vegan beef jerky unlike Sprouts and Trader Joes down here. They also have local mini apple pies that are really good. The prices are great, protein powder section really nice and plentiful. The prices here are absolutely insane. I worked for Whole Foods (not in Medford obviously, since there isn't one for hours), and this place has prices that surpass even them. Customer service is completely lacking and they espouse many nonsensical causes with no basis in reality. I thought it would be awesome to shop somewhere that seems to have an environmental focus, but it isn't environmental so much as it is idiotic. read more

Keep an eye on the sales here, because that is one of their best features. The loss-leaders can be really good deals. Their everyday prices are ok - not great, but about what you would expect for a natural food store (certainly less expensive than the Medford Co-Op). Good selection of some items that are hard to find anywhere else in Medford. One odd complaint - the lighting is terrible in the store, and makes it feel much older and dirtier - not sure why they did it that way, since it was a complete remodel. read more

I've been in Natural Grocers twice now and I'm underwhelmed. Today was definitely NOT a positive experience. I had heard of a demonstration they would be having at the store at 5:30 showcasing some products and preparations; at 5:45 I left, disgruntled because the demonstration had not yet even begun. (However, I did pick up quite a bit of literature on GMO's). And then, as I looked for a couple of items in the store, I was very disappointed with the lack of knowledge on the part of the staff who attempted to help me. I was inquiring about where I could find the Coconut Aminos; one person thought they were a pill form supplement and the other didn't have any more of a clue, when I tried to explain, she wandered me through the salad dressing section and then sought help from a manager who "handles all of this." Unfortunately, this person didn't have any more of a clue than the first two. The second item I was looking for was a yogurt spread; again, no clue from the staff regarding what the product was or if they had it (or, if they did, where it might be found). Unfortunately, a specialty store such as this MUST have knowledgeable staff in order to succeed, ESPECIALLY in the Medford/Central Point area. Their prices are quite high and the lack of expertise and knowledge on the part of the employees does not speak well for a successful market. I'm afraid this store is short-lived. I'll continue to shop at Food 4 Less for my natural products. read more

Medford has hit the grocery jackpot in the last couple of years ... first the arrival of Trader Joes and now the arrival of Natural Grocers almost across the street. Stores like this make me wish I lived closer. Natural Grocers has a real large and beautiful selection of organic produce at reasonable prices (for organic) and a larger selection of meats, etc. than most similar stores have. Also has a huge selection of frozen foods and numerous isles of canned and jar type goods. I love it - it rivals the large coop stores in Eureka and Arcata. I LOVE this store. There's nothing else like it unless you want to drive all the way to Ashland, and the stores there are more expensive. I'm impressed with the wide variety in the produce section, which is ALL organic, no exceptions. The bulk spice section, too, is impressive, both in price and variety. Sure, the prices overall are higher than Winco, but the superior products are worth it. And the main emphasis is NOT on supplements. The store is divided roughly in half, with supplements on one side and grocery items on the other. The grocery side is a fully stocked grocery store. Frankly, I think the two negative reviews before me are kind of dumb. read more
