We went here several times to attend a Piano Recital in one of their meeting rooms. It's a nice Library off of Buffalo going North. The Security guard on duty was polite and helpful. He even knew how much the meeting room costs to rent out in case we want to one day. read more

I really love when you walk into the left is the check in and community boards. Then you move to the right into the library. Off to the left is a great selection of inexpensive hardcover and soft cover books. I have always trusted the computer services offered here. Actually the whole staff can be very helpful. I also like how easy I can maneuver around with my cane or walker. read more

Came here with my kids to see what kind of events they had going on, and I was honestly so impressed! Tons of parking and so many activities for everyone, from little ones to teens, adults, and even seniors. The library itself is a great size, super clean, and filled with things to do in every corner. There's always something happening for all ages, and the staff in every department were friendly, welcoming, and helpful. I also appreciated that there's security on-site, which makes it feel very safe. They were serving food for the kids, and the bags were packed with healthy snacks, such a thoughtful touch! We joined in on the "WhoDunnit" mystery activity and actually guessed the right suspect. The kids were so excited to receive invisible ink pens as a surprise prize--such a fun idea! It was a blast walking around the library together searching for clues and spending that quality time as a family. Afterward, we noticed an arts and crafts table where the kids got to paint candle holders (Halloween themed or not). It was my two girls, and a few others and self with the instructor enjoying such a cozy, creative setup. I found out they do projects like this once a month, so I marked it on our calendar and grabbed the October events schedule. We'll definitely be back for more library days this month! Also side note I'll be making appointments for Passports my husband and kids need theirs done and what a great place to come to and get it done. Instead of dealing with the post office coming here seems like a way better option. Such a great place with amazing energy! I can't express how much the kids absolutely loved it, and so did I. You can also check out modems for Internet service for free. It has all types of assistance to help the community. The librarians, administrators, and support staff at Rainbow Library should take pride in their contribution to the Las Vegas community. This library is in great condition, the staff truly cares about the community members that visit. Not only is the Rainbow Library beautiful, it is a welcoming space. The security staff up front monitors the library halls and aisle-ways to make sure everything and everyone is protected. I brought my sister here and we checked out a couple of books. During our visit, we were able to make origami, walk around the Teen Zone, the youth library, the puzzles. There's endless amount of resources here and I'll definitely be back here soon!! read more

This is a great library. We're going for their tutoring program. The ladies helping the kids are great! They are nice and patient with the kids, and they help them a lot! THANK YOU! I had not visit a library in a while. They are different from I would take my kids. They do have some new great programs and the atmosphere is very different. The noise level can be too loud at times! I've encounter a few parents, visitors, kids and staff that are a little too loud! I think is great that we do not need to whisper, but people should remember that there are people studying, reading, etc., we should keep our voice at a normal low level. There's this lady (staff) in the Reference Desk who is a little too loud; she seems ti be nice, but you can hear all the way to the Children's DVD area and farther and at times she is much louder. I don't see any other staff talking as loud as she does even other staff talking to her are not as loud. Maybe she can remember to keep it down a little! read more

Visited this library to attend story time with my toddler. All the staff I encountered were very friendly. The librarians in the youth section are basically saints. It gets wild in there but they are still so patient, friendly and helpful. We visited another library for storytime but this location was so much better and more fun and engaging. We went two days in a row and it was busy. So get there early to get a ticket. Overall the location was really clean, close parking and polite staff. read more

This is not my favorite Vegas library. Personnel are limited, and service is pretty nonexistent. If you can't find what you're looking for, try using the computerized card catalogue. If you still can't find it, you're pretty much SOL. Large kids/teen section is appealing, adult section is large and fairly well organized. The new releases are by the self-checkout section. A lot of people seem to reserve their books online, and several shelves by the entry way are taken up with the pickup section. As George W's review mentions, I'm a little baffled as to why the library looks so big on the outside but the inside is cramped together. They seem to have more than half of their space dedicated to community services and programs like tax help and tutoring- great services, but makes for a lesser experience for readers. read more

My daughter and I really wanted a movie night without spending more money! The holidays really tapped out this mama...so, I called our local library, Enterprise, to request Pitch Perfect 1 & 2. Unfortunately, they were all checked out... Enterprise was kind to call this location to reserve the copies for us to pick up before close that evening. When we arrived, we first noticed the security guards which is standard for all the libraries (from my observation)we also found a huge, inviting space, with a ginormous selection of movies! Yes, we were really excited!! We checked out two more movies, Girl on a Train and Logan. In addition to the movies, I thought I'd look for a book my doc recommended, which to my delight, I found! And, once I was feeling all book nerded out another book caught my eye so I got it too! The reference staff were so kind and helpful and probably gave the best experience out of any library, except the children's staff at Enterprise, who are fabulous too! And the woman at the help desk with the silver hair and teal highlights was very nice and helpful! Even though it's a long drive for us, we'll return to this location in the future. read more

This is our neighborhood library and me and my little one enjoy coming here to get our reading on. The staff are always willing to help and will walk you to your book location, not just point it out. The library is clean and very organized. My little one enjoys the kids area and loves to play with their dollhouse and puzzles. Their book selection for kids is large and holds all her favorite titles. There is a lot of parking and its right next to the park, so you could make it a fun packed day of reading and outdoor fun. read more

My Son has tutoring here every once in a while and I study on occasion while he's in his tutoring session. Of all of the local libraries I go to, this one is not one of my favorites.....here's why: - It's too small. During my most recent visit, it was freakin' packed and there was very few spots to study. - The staff members here aren't friendly. During my last visit a security guard told me to take my feet off the furniture.....they weren't on the furniture! I was resting my calves on a chair (feet hanging off the edge)......I'm not stupid enough to destroy furniture by putting my dirty shoes on it, but he didn't care and made me take my leg off the corner of the chair......meanwhile, obnoxious teenage kids with ringing phones were allowed to talk loudly. WTH? - Uncomfortable furniture. I don't know why all of the libraries in Clark County have different furniture....but they do. The Sahara and Buffalo libraries have comfortably chairs and sofas with coffee tables to study at. Not here....they have chairs and tables that aren't too comfy. Overall, not my favorite place. Will I return? Only to take my Son to his tutoring sessions. read more

I really like this library. It is so big and filled with so many books! I visit all the time with my daughter. We go to the story time and movement and music events they hold. She enjoys the events and has really learned to live reading. This library has great children's library too. The librarians are all friendly and seem to enjoy the kiddos. The library also holds all sorts of events for babies, kids, teens, and adults. Make sure to check the monthly calendar to see what you want to do. This is without a doubt the most noisy and the filthiest public library I have ever been in. If you're trying to study or are interested in reading a book, don't even think about it here. People talk, shout and kids run around screaming & crying like it's a circus. Don't people have ANY respect for others? When in a Library you are to be "QUIET"!!! People have NO MANNERS HERE!!! There aren't even any signs the say "QUIET PLEASE", and the staff here doesn't seemingly care nor do they enforce the noise pollution here. This definitely needs to be fixed here. Pretty functional in every department. Good use of flow and space. Yes, ugly public architecture on the outside of the building, but the interior spaces work well. Well, except for the really stupid arches at the entrance. They are a great place to jump somebody, and were not well thought out at all. And every space should be considered as either helpful or hazardous for public safety. The guards and gates are just reminders of how close this library is to the apartments across the street. The YPL department is cozy. They do a good job maintaining the space, even if they get a lot of older kids (teenagers) running through playing reindeer games with each other. They also do some fun readings for the little, little ones. In fairness, All the departments are easy to access and well places within the structure. I think this library has the best scenery to the outside world. A lor of libraries are claustrophobic, but not this one. The glass on the North side that overlooks Cheyenne is very visually pleasing. The natural light and ample tables make this a perennial favorite for writing and studying. I find this one of the better libraries in the District. read more

This is a decent library in the Northwest Valley that is convenient to my condo. I have been coming to this location for a number of years now and have found it to be a pleasant experience. The staff is always friendly and ready to assist if you have any queries. Minus one star for the smaller collection of books and an awkward and somewhat confusing layout which usually leads to some wandering around the stacks. Minus an additional star as I have to agree with another review referencing the fact that staff make no attempt to keep the noise level down. This is not a quiet place to read; typically people talking in normal volume and kids screaming or crying. They do however have study rooms you can reserve for two hours at a time. read more

This is mainly for the Young Adults section and all the staff there and Security. My son has been going there after school for 2 years now and the staff is just wonderful! They are so caring and helpful! They know my son now and are so eager to suggest new books for him to read, because he literally reads a book or two per week. The YA selection here is not ridiculously large, but the library itself isn't huge, which is so nice. I love how the separation is apparent and how they have lavatories in the YA section so the kids don't have to venture out there to go. The place is always clean and there is always a staff member ready and willing to help. The computer lab has many computers and you must have a card to utilize the computers, I tried to get on one sans card and the assistant gave me a big fat no as an answer. LOL. I just used my sons card in the kids area because I literally needed to print something out real quick. The reading sections are clearly marked, they have some the new books right in the front by check out, and you can always order a specific item through their ILL system. Truly awesome!! I'm so grateful for all the staff, and the library itself; truly lifesavers! Yay! read more

I've been here a couple times to check out books, use the computers, or to work on papers. This place is great for the family! The children have their own section to read, play, and there's story time. The teens have their section as well and a study room in the back of the library. There's movies, cd's, newspapers, and of course books to rent. You can self - checkout or do it the old fashion way. I like that they have a computer room where you can use up to 2hours. They also have a job board. It's a nice place to get away to focus on whatever you need to do! read more

Ths is the closest library to my house so I come here often. Located on Cheyenne and Buffalo so I always thinks it's on Rainbow. I like it being smaller than most library so I don't have to walk far to each sections LOL! They have computers and printers to use. I believe the print cost 15c per copy. They have audio books, eBooks, movies and music. The staff have been very helpful. Just like any libraries, you can reserve the books online and if they don't have they will place a hold on and once its available they bring it to the library of your choice. I feel this place is more noisy especially at the children's section and some loud teenagers. I usually grab my books and go. They have a lot of community events going on so a good place to be involved with the community! read more

Extremely rude woman working at the help desk. Couldn't be bothered. She actually told me "why did you let her grandparents take her to the library and not you as her parent" when we were having trouble figuring out her PIN number that was set when her grandmother took her. Instead of trying to figure out how to have my 10 year old daughter be able to check out the book she had in her hand she just shook her head and gave me the card back. It was explained to me by the nice lady working in children's area the parents are to sign the kids up for billing purposes- which makes total sense but clearly my mother was assumed to be my daughters mother when she was signed up bc my mother would never claim she was. (Same last name, young looking mother) So because they messed up, and had her grandmother on the account as the parent, I as her mother couldn't reset the PIN. I was told by the children's area woman that I could open my own account and check it out for her- to which we did. (1 star for her- very helpful and solved our issue) I would think the people who choose to work at a library would encourage a child to read and do anything in their power to let that happen. Instead this rude lady (Russian accent) decided to make this a horrible trip to the library to which now my daughter and I never want to return. I explained to my daughter some people are problem starters and some are problem solvers. She keeps talking about the rude lady at the library. read more

We love Rainbow Library! My kids and I came every Tuesday at 4 for Lego club (sometimes its a different event) and we also came for rock the library which is one Sunday a month. Miss Jen and the Steam staff are all very patient and amazing with the kids who attend. They occasionally post photos of the things kids have built in the children's library and my son beams with pride when he sees his creations up there. I wish there were more programs/classes but I am happy with what they have so far! read more

Being a librarian, I take a critical look at any library that I happen to visit. I've been using Rainbow, because it's close to my home. After first using the library on W Sahara, this one is shocking. The building looks substantial on the outside, yet inside its overcrowded. Additionally, whats there is poorly organized. The library is simply too small to house all that a modern, urban library needs. For example, I could not find a place for quiet study, only a table in the midst of everything else. The tutor loudly teaching next to me, made studying or reading impossible. I suppose this is all the result of the majority of Nevada and Las Vegas residents being unwilling to adequately finance any type of educational institution. read more

We love this library, we're loyal patrions here since my kids in elementary school. They are now 2 in college, 1 a junior in highschool, and 1 &th grade. We love coming here to study, rent books and dvds. We go to the park next door to play or just play with our 2 poodles. The staff friendly and helpful. read more

So.... my son and I went to the Rainbow Library last month because of friend of mine was involved with an event that they had in the theater. That was the first time that we were there. It was a big library but we didn't get a chance to roam through the library portion. The theater was an average size but the presentation for AIDS/HIV awareness was great. Around the library there was a park and a center for kids. The area was beautiful. We will be going back there soon. They always have events there. read more
