I put out a Yelp request to get estimates on some work for my home. As Yelp does, it contacted…read moremultiple companies. Mr. Rooter was the first to call me, and schedule for an estimate. I mentioned that we are selling the house and we were looking to repair an issue with the water pressure for the new owners. The plumber that came by called me and told me his recommendations. Two days later, I received an estimate for much more than what was recommended on the phone, and an invoice for the estimate itself. I responded questioning that estimate charge, because it wasn't mentioned in advance, and why there was work on the estimate that we were told we wouldn't need. The woman that responded was nice with her explanations, but it still doesn't sit right with me to charge for an estimate, or to not say that ahead of time. A week later, she called to follow up, and I told her because it was a Yelp thing, someone else was taking a look for us and I would be in touch if we wanted to continue with them; or I would pay the invoice for the estimate online. The other company that came told us everything Mr. Rooter had added to their estimate was not needed. If those things were a problem, we would have no water. So it would have been a waste of money. Two weeks later, after not reaching out to me again to follow up, she called my realtor and threatened to put a lien on our house, and interfere with the sale, if we don't pay the $200 estimate fee! That is extremely unprofessional! and $200 is very high, considering it cost your company nothing in parts, etc, and your employee was only at my home for 16 minutes. I am far from happy with my experience. Tyler, their plumber, was great! He seemed to know exactly what it was talking about, he was very nice on the phone and professional. But their office is a disaster and the customer service is a 1/10. To respond.. I never spoke tot Tyler over the phone regarding the bill, nor was I ever rude to him in any manner. I was never told in advance about any fees for estimates, so I would love to hear the recorded call you claim you have. I also responded to the email with the invoice for the estimate that I was unaware of a charge for it, and the response I received was "yes, that was our failure to communicate." I also did not say I would be using the estimate in negotiations for my sale, so it was not a "real estate estimate." It was a homeowner trying to get work done on their home. And the work is the home needs IS being done, by someone else. You are simply unhappy that I got multiple estimates done, and chose someone else, which I have every right to do, whether I am selling the home or not. Good luck to you and your corporate business.

I needed to have a professional do mold remediation (in Clifton Park, in Upstate NY) when I found…read moreBlack Mold was embedded in Sheetrock under a tankless hot water heater which I didn't know had a very small leak. I called Rainbow International since their website indicates they are certified and licensed in Mold Remediation. Rainbow (Albany NY) came in, told me the Black Mold they saw in the Sheetrock would require cutting out that section of the wall, and they could in fact eliminate the mold problem. They charge $2500 to cut away about 10 sqr ft of wall(&fix repaint), spray antifungal into the wall and rug around it(didn't even cut away rug to just check under it). Thinking they solved the mold problem as they promised, I stopped running ultraviolet light (contain mold growth/spread). After that I became extremely sick, and had to go to family's place in NYC;where a doctor found he needed to prescribe 3 antibiotics and warn continuation of a problem might require hospital intervention. After getting sick, I called Rainbow. They acknowledged that the illness could've been from continued mold problem, but then blamed this on my "having a lot of things" (I took out of the walk-in closet when I first found the mold)! As the later Mold Inspector said, their job under NY Law was to have a full inspection done BEFORE starting the estimate & work; if for nothing else to professionally determine the extent and details in the Mold Remediation work needed to have the work successfully completed in a thorough manner (that wouldn't leave the issue outstanding afterwards). Rainbow (2 weeks ago) said they would call me back about any next steps they could possibly take to fully solve the problem; I still haven't heard from them after I sent them the Mold Inspector's report along with the "Air Analysis" sent from a laboratory that examined the air samples from the apartment (containing the mold they were hired to remediate)!! Do not hire this company. It is my understanding this isn't up to minimum standards required by NY Law for licensed individuals. After I reported them to the regulatory state agency, they called me to threaten me with a charge of"slander". I gave them the answer Judge Judy once gave;an absolute defense to such a charge is that I told the truth (as I am here also). They told the NYS agency they only worked on less than 10 feet of Sheetrock, your their bill to me said they worked on 30 feet of Sheetrock. If it was an "error", of course you can't depend on their use of "due diligence" in billing and work. Otherwise, which I suspect is more likely the case, they are just plainly dishonest!

My initial contact was with Laurie. She explained things to me and offered to give me a free estimate. Laurie even emailed me the laws about mold removal. Matt met us at our cabin and after carefully checking things out, informed us that our problem was very minor and that we could take care of it ourselves. We appreciate his honesty and feel very fortunate that we contacted the right company. We will certainly always recommend Rainbow International Restoration to anyone who asks.

Roofing companies can be a tricky industry to deal with in my experience, so I really did my research. I am SO glad I chose S&G Roofing. Eric King came by to give me an estimate, and talked over my options, and added a few suggestions (at their own expense) to be added. He also gave me three or four local roofs he installed and I had a look first hand at how they turned out. On the install date, still skeptical, I was expecting the worse. By 7:05am, I was already completely overwhelmed by the total and complete professionalism from every single member of the crew. The entire crew worked together as a well oiled machine. John's crew told my wife that they should seal the brand new pavement that day, and it would cost an extra $1000. No one contacted me, and my wife was convinced by John's team that this was appropriate. All of the research I have done says that sealing before the pavement cures is a bad approach. John was very rude to me when I spoke to him, and literally said I should be mad at my wife for agreeing to pay the extra $1000. He hung up on me when I called to complain. I consider John and his team to be untrustworthy.
