After receiving bids from 5 other roofing companies, I eventually hired S&G Roofing to put a new roof on my 3 bedroom home in Saratoga Springs. Roofing companies can be a tricky industry to deal with in my experience, so I really did my research. I am SO glad I chose S&G Roofing. Eric King came by to give me an estimate, and talked over my options, and added a few suggestions (at their own expense) to be added. He also gave me three or four local roofs he installed and I had a look first hand at how they turned out. On the install date, still skeptical, I was expecting the worse. By 7:05am, I was already completely overwhelmed by the total and complete professionalism from every single member of the crew. The entire crew worked together as a well oiled machine. Avoid like the plague. I called for an estimate and they came. Was promised the estimate by the end of the day. A week a week of calling for the estimate they only gave an estimate to replace the roof and not what was asked to be fixed. I then called and tried to get an explanation and was ghosted by Jason. 2 weeks later pallet of shingles was delivered and called to figure out why they were delivered. They were going to do the work without any authorization or talk of me paying them. Told them to pick up the shingles which they agreed to. Next day they showed up to do the work thank god someone was home to stop them. Was probably going to try and scam us for a new roof without agreeing to it. Thank you, S & G Roofing for replacing my flat roof with EPDM. Your team did a remarkable job. They showed up even though it was 96 degrees outside. They were young, knowledgeable and energetic. The team leader assured me they would complete the job in a day. They delivered as promised. The site supervisor Branden was very professional and great at communication. He stayed in touch with me describing how the team was progressing. He also made sure the team members took breaks especially given the extreme heat. I gave them 2 and a half cases of water to make sure they stayed hydrated. Meanwhile, my neighbors were fascinated by the technology. They came out to marvel at the 42 foot ladder with the motor and pulley system that delivered supplies from street level to the rooftop in seconds. It spared workers backbreaking stress and made the project go faster. I really needed a new roof and roof drain. My ceiling was leaking. Your estimator, Josh, was intelligent and explained the roofing process clearly. As for the estimate, the price he provided was very fair and I was so happy with his presentation. He didn't pull scare tactics as some competitors did. Some of them also wanted to charge 30 percent more. The office staff was also great at conveying information. They were nice, efficient and easy to talk to. I called up 9 roofing companies. I'm glad I picked S & G. It was like they never were here, but they had to practically replace my whole roof so it was an excellent job that they did and they were upfront with the cost. Ghosted by Mike. He came to our home on a Tuesday to give us an estimate for siding our home. He said he would have an estimate to us by the end of the week. Nothing so i followed up the next Tuesday, he apologized and said he would have the quote to me by end of day or Wednesday at the latest. Nothing. Project scope: Full roof replacement, asphalt shingles. Day of installation (2.5 stars): The work crew arrived early, in advance of the supervisor. The crew then draped large tarps off the edge of the house and proceeded to rip off the old shingles. As expected, several pieces of plywood were replaced. Some plywood was replaced per my request and some was replaced at their discretion. I would have liked the crew or supervisor to share with me why the other pieces had to be removed because S&G provides a two-sheet allowance and beyond that each additional sheet costs $80. In addition, there were several workers on all portions of the roof at the same time and the supervisor commented that too much work was occurring for him to keep an eye on. Given this, I feel that S&G should consider the scope of the project they face and put two supervisors on the job or decrease the crew size if required to ensure the work can be managed appropriately. Additional work and issues (2.5 stars): In addition to placing ladders directly on the gutters, another issue I had is when the crew was laying the starter row they used the gutters for support which caused several brackets to be pulled out and then bending caused creases and dents. In their defense, the roof pitch is steep, but I don't agree that gutter damage must be accepted as part of the process. In my opinion, if the project was properly supervised and If they had slowed down, used ladder stabilizers and had someone spot the person laying the first row I believe gutter damage could have been prevented. S&G also installed a flat roof on the back porch. Because it's a board and batten house, siding had to be removed so that the roof material could be brought up behind the siding and this resulted in the boards flaring out at the bottom because the siding can no longer fit flush at the bottom. This is not too noticeable because it's in the back and too high for anyone to see. However, it is not a professional result and the approach was not discussed with me in advance, otherwise I would have chosen another option. Also, once the old shingles were removed from the porch it was learned that all of the plywood on the porch had to be replaced, but they did not stop to tell me in advance. It is about 350 sq. ft. and it cost nearly 1700 more for the additional plywood. This possibility was discussed in advance but when it was known to be necessary it should have been immediately brought to my attention. Additionally, after replacing the siding nearest the chimney they were not able to place it as close to the chimney as before leaving a gap too wide to keep exposed. I had to fill the gap with spray foam, otherwise mice and insects would have gotten in as this location does not have plywood sheathing behind the siding, only foam board, and, I would have shared this information with S&G if we had talked through the process, in advance. Perhaps they could have replaced the small area with plywood, if they had known of the issue in advance. I can only imagine that if I were not so observant and handy that this issue would have resulted in significant house damage, in the long run. Issues after completion: The first rain after installation I had a leak in the newly installed bathroom vent This was recently replaced and so far so good. In addition, while up in the attic I have found several nails that missed the rafters in the replaced plywood panels. This is not a nail here and there, it's an entire row on several on of the sheets installed. Also, I had to replace the gutters due to the damage caused by S&G. The gutter company found that on one section of the roof the S&G workers nailed a 10 foot piece of drip edge to the gutter and not the roof. The gutter company secured the drip edge to the roof, but at an additional cost. Also, I have observed that some of the shingles are wavey (not flat), but I don't know why. Cleanup (5 stars): As far as cleanup is concerned they did an excellent job. The yard was covered with tarps and all debris was thrown onto the tarps. One guy worked his butt off hauling the mess to the truck. Then, a magnet was used to pick up the nails. I only found a couple nails after a heavy rain washed them to the side of the driveway. Customer service (5 stars): S&Gs customer service is very good. My interaction with the office staff, the sales folks and the repair person has been positive. read more

nice people but the job was poor. improper tarps to protect the property when shingles removed. I wrote in large print not to damage the garden. it a was a disaster. garden trashed and the metal fence around it was wrecked. they tied a heavy rope around lilac bushes and killed them. they bent my gutters and I specifically asked when they quoted the job if they protect gutters. they damaged wood side where meets the roof in places and when I asked for repair the job is amateurish and done improperly. I will have a contractor repair it. Many nails were left in the stone around the house. I assume the roof itself is ok but snow and rain will tell. read more

Just had a roof installed by S&G. I saw them on a Facebook Ad and decided to contact them. They called me the next day and set up a time for an estimate. Rocky came out and measured the roof. He presented me with a folder with insurance information and samples of materials used in the replacement of the roof as well as a presentation on the process they use to replace the roof. On the day of the installation, the crew worked non stop to tear off and replace the roof. They completed the job in a little over 6 hours. Once they left you could not really tell any work was done. The estimate was fair and the presentation of the estimate and the roofing process was nothing more than professional. They offer a 10 year warranty on the workmanship. Since they are a Owens Corning preferred contractor, the roof is covered by a 50 year warranty as well. read more

My name is Kim, The day came this past Autumn when my husband and I needed to have our roof replaced, we decided to also have some construction work done at the same time. So we contacted 5 different roofing contractors requesting bids, one of course being S&G Roofing. When the bids all came in we were shocked to see numbers ranging from approximately $13K-20K, "that is a big difference". For the same job. So we contacted the highest price roofer and asked him to once again explain in detail the material choices, quantities and quality of material to be used. Then we called the company that gave the lowest bid, which happened to be S&G Roofing, I spoke with Sukhi (the Owner). I was up front with him about the price differences we were seeing and had questions and concerns about his pricing- I asked if he would stop by and again explain the details and review the materials being used. He was very patient with us, he sat at our dining room table and took his time explaining everything to me again. After calling back one or two other companies, we decided to contract with S&G. In hindsight, it was the best decision we could have made. Sukhi worked with us and was so patient as we made changes and added on to the original contract. He and his employees were so professional, respectful and courteous. They all paid great attention to detail, and our roof had a lot of detail. After the job was completed, he followed up with a call to make sure we were satisfied with the over all job, and YES we are!!.
