BEWARE! Dishonest & slimy sales people (Chris). Heather Koenig has no moral integrity in the way she runs her business. The windows are extremely cheaply made & installed. They absolutely will not guarantee anything they say or sell. I had several windows replaced but the windows came with defects that were acknowledged but not corrected. Their warranty doesn't cover labor and they couldn't care less if you're not happy with their product or installation. They hire crooks & criminals to do their installs that have little to no experience in the construction industry. Honestly, you would be better off working with Lowes, Home Depot or Menards to purchase windows and use their contractors. Do not believe all the "Ron and his crew were great" reviews as they are clearly creating fake accounts and/or incentivizing people to leave scripted reviews. read more

Our guy Markie worked in the heat AND rain from 10:30 AM until he finished the job around 7! We could not be happier with the finished product. We've also had amazing customer service. Very happy with our new windows. They are so pretty. Windows arrived a couple months earlier than expected. Ron and Crew were great, kind, helpful, clean, courteous. When they ran into a pre existing issue that was unknown they worked with it nicely and had to make a special trip to the hardware store. We bought windows last fall from a very nice salesperson. We were encouraged to buy the metal screens for their durability. The windows took longer than we were told Buy the screens came damaged. Five screens, five damaged screens. New screen were ordered and like two months later came in. All five screens came out of the box damaged which means they were pit in the box damaged. We've now been waiting for months for new screens. Every time I call I'm told that they are expected on "Monday's" truck. It's been a lot of Mondays and still nothing and no communication from WW. Called again this week and now we are hoping they will be on Monday's truck. Fat chance. Also been waiting for window trim that was wrongly ordered TWICE. We had hoped to replace the rest our our windows this summer but I can't see that happening. The product seems very good (except the screens) but the service is horrendous. Once they get your money, they don't care about service. I ordered 5 new windows and since we live near a highway I asked that they add soundproofing. I was assured that everyone LOVED their soundproofed triple-paned windows and that I would too. The windows arrived a few weeks early and there was only 1 person installing them. He was nice enough, but he left metal scraps in the yard under the windows that he replaced and trampled some of the new shrubbery that was growing next to the house. He also took off all the window blinds on the inside of the house and did not put them back up. I could have overlooked those inconveniences if the windows actually had any soundproofing capability. That night, the highway noise was so loud that I got up to check to see if they had been left open by mistake - they were closed and locked. The old jeldwin windows provided much more soundproofing than the new Window World windows. I contacted WW to ask if they had somehow sent the wrong windows. They promised to have the service manager come out to take a look. Well, after many, many cancellations, re-scheduling, and me taking vacation days because they preferred to come out midday, someone (not the manager) did come out. He checked the windows out and agreed that they were not providing very much soundproofing. He said he was in town with the owner on a job that day and would have him call me right away because the owner was very keen on customer satisfaction. I waited, but the owner never did call and several weeks later the same service tech called to say that the owner wanted me to know that there were many other factors besides those windows that accounted for the noise - my walls, the insulation, the siding material on the house, etc. These were all lame excuses! The ONLY thing that changed were the windows. The old 1982 jeldwin windows did a much better job of soundproofing than the new triple-paned window world windows. They not only sold me inferior windows, but they didn't care if I was satisfied with my purchase. I will never, ever purchase another product from Window World. read more

I have recieved utterally abismal service from every aspect of this company. The first time they came to service my windows they showed up at 2:30pm when we had an appointment at 9:30. The reason they gave was, "something came up. We'll be running a little behind." Not only this, but the service tech admited his helper was on methanphetamines. This helper broke all the windows we wanted to keep and ripped the windows out of the frame. The damage they caused has ruined the frames and even damaged the inside walls. The aid and servicer never finished their job because of being late. They were working by the light of our motion sensor. My husband had to string work lights up for them. They stopped progress at 8:30pm and promised to be back first thing im the morning the next day. The aid by himself arived close to three and just hid the damages with some covers and the window itself. Then almost a month later their manager Skipp finally came to to inspect damages and give an estimation. Then today, our appointment for repair came through. We expected them to arrive at 9:30 when we were schedualed to have them. We got a call 15 minutes before our appointment saying they, "got a surprise truck and can't make it until later. We have drafts making our house freezing as its the dead of winter. The ladys at the call center were unhelpful and only offered appologies and nothing to help rectify the situation. This company has been dreadful to work with and I honestly would have rather rated a zero insted of a 1. They are not a company even worth considering and I wish we would have picked anybody else. Save yourself some frustration and DO NOR USE THIS COMPANY! read more

This experience has been laughable at best. I am a property owner in Altoona, IA. I worked with Brian Oselette at the store to place an order back in October of 2015 - it was NOT UNTIL APRIL 2016 that the window was finally correctly installed and delivered. We originally reached out in late October about the situation, it has now taken 6 months to replace a window. My understanding is there were some issues with the wrong size coming from the manufacturer, their team had to come out to the property twice to measure, etc. However, those reasons still add up to use having a plywood covered window through the Iowa winter for half a year! After everything, I received an invoice for the remaining charges on the account with no apologies or explanations, and after emails and calls that have led to no resolutions, discounts or any sort of compensation for the poor experience, I URGE YOU TO NEVER TRUST YOUR BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. I was promised calls from the owner that never came, I gave them multiple opportunities in good faith to make this right, but after no interest from anyone at the company, the result is this review. read more

Window World in Des Moines did a wonderful job. We now have our complete home with Window World windows. This last set was the largest windows, and the most area taken up. We did receive one pane damaged in shipping, and they have since replaced that piece (this was done in a very timely manner - at no cost to us and at a time convenient for our schedules). We were so satisfied, that I recommended the windows to my brother who had their windows damaged by a tornado in my hometown. I would recommend these to others as well. read more

I have held off on my review to see if the owners would actually return my email messages, but it has been nearly a month with no response, so I will share my thoughts. We were in need of a replacement patio door. We had several estimates over the last year. Our salesman was nice enough. He went over the options available to us, and provided an estimate. We contacted him a few months later when we were ready to proceed. Our door had to be special ordered due to size, we provided 1/2 down, and set out to wait for the door to come in. It did come in within the timeframe provided. The day of the installation seemed fine. The team working didn't talk to me much. They did seem in a hurry to leave. They rushed through the end, didn't clean the glass of the doors, or clean the new door frame of packing materials. I noticed what I thought were scratches and started looking a little closer and noticed that they had severely cracked one wall. The walls are plaster, not drywall. I called and Brad the operations manager came to look at it. He advised that the guys told him it was like that, which it absolutely was not. He basically insinuated that because of the age/condition of my house was the cause of the cracked plaster, not the crappy workmanship of their employees. He stated the contract says they are not responsible for paint or drywall. However; he did advise that he would have someone out in 2 weeks to repair the wall. Three weeks later, I emailed to find out what was going on with the repair. It took another week before the wall was repaired. In the meantime, I sent an email to the owners of the franchise, Heather and Paul Koenig. Explaining the situation and that I was displeased that I had to have the wall repaired, how I was treated, and that I was going to have no choice but to paint after my wall was repaired. I asked for a discount. I didn't even receive a response. Today, in the mail I received a letter advising of the lead paint testing results. The letter is dated, 03/06/18, which is prior to the work being completed and the "test" states the work was completed on the 19th, when in fact it was completed on March 16th. It is obvious this company does not care about it's records, cares less about their clients, and is entirely just after your money. Now, besides how we were treated, the delay in the repairs, and the complete lack of communication from the owners, I actually like the door. Which is the only reason for 2 stars over zero. read more

Hired Window World again to install two new entry doors and three storm doors. Really love them so much better quality than you find at the big box stores. Very nice staff, sales and installers. I am giving this company a 3 rating because in our dealing with them with all new 15 windows we had replaced, they were awesome. However, when it came to our new Deck slider doors it has been a nightmare. Long story short.....First off they brought the wrong door. We noticed in later fall early winter that the gas must have been leaking because we were getting bubbles inside our glass. I called in Dec or Jan and let them know about this, they ordered a new door. Called in Jan or Feb and verified the door came in but we needed to wait for warmer weather, understandable. Called in Mid April and they need 2 workers to install so trying to get apt set up when they have 2, would get back to me by the end of the week, nothing for 3 weeks. Call back today 5/14 and I am told they are still waiting to make an apt for when 2 people are available for the replacement. Now wouldn't you think this would have been done a long time ago? I feel like I am getting the run around...... read more

My experience with Window World had some high points and some low ones. I love the windows and the guys that came to install them did a fantastic job with the installation, the cleanup and I couldn't have asked for more in that regard. The man who originally came with a quote was incredibly knowledgeable as well. The price did go up by the time he came back a month later to finalize and he told me (this was in early September) that it would be January before they could do it. That was another surprise but I agreed and paid the half up front. They called me beginning of October on a Friday and said they were coming Monday! I was glad to have it done but I had to do some schedule changing so I could be home. After the windows were in I noticed that one of them didn't have the grid patter and one was wrong. Both were small windows and apart from the others and still looked beautiful so I called them and said I don't need them to come out again I just don't want to pay for a higher end window with the grid pattern if I didn't get it. First of all, they said, "yeah we noticed that when they came in." What? You knew they were wrong, 3 months early and still sent them out for installation? Also, it would be 6 weeks before the return would be processed and sent out. That seemed like a long time...fast forward to today, January 24th and I still haven't received it. I call, "oh yeah that was my bad I didn't get it done until November (which is more than six weeks ago) and its processing you should get it in a couple of weeks." Okay...I am not impressed with their office/warehouse folks and I'm not sure I'll ever get that check. The windows, however, are beautiful and really exactly what I wanted. read more

So much regret! We hired Window World to replace two large three-piece windows. Should YOU hire Window World? If you can answer yes to one or more of these statements, Windows World will likely live up to your expectations: You like your interior and exterior window frames and sills to be left with big cuts, gouge marks and splinters from the indiscriminate use of hammers, crow bars and sawsalls. You like splintered trim to be reused. You like to see lots and lots of caulk used on the inside of your window frames and trim to try to cover up mistakes and damage. You like replacement trim to be cut up to an inch short and the resulting holes to be filled with globs of caulk. You like exterior trim work to include lots and lots of caulk, sometimes up to half-inch wide beads. You like to see a supervisor point out several faults with the original installation and promise to fix them, but instead try to cover the damage with even more caulk and make things look even worse. You like people to stand you up on the appointments you make with them. You like to be yelled at and called a liar when you politely complain. You like installers to leave broken glass and box cutters behind for your kids to find. You like to use your vacation time to accommodate the 7 appointments it took to get things done right. You like to be quoted one price by the sales person and then get charged extra by the installers - payable on the spot, directly to the installers, not the company, no receipt. You like to work with two installers who resemble a cross between Cheech and Chong and the Marx Brothers, who can't understand your English, and who ignore you when you point out they are damaging the trim and frames. You like to see the pity in the eyes of your handyman friends and neighbors who see the installation and ask you questions such as "But why didn't they...?" and "Why on Earth did they...?" The resolution to our problems only came at the 5th through 7th visits, when a new supervisor came out and spent hours fixing things. The outside of one window frame and sill looked so bad he offered to wrap it in metal sheeting for free. It was obviously easier than to try and fix all the damage. True to form, they didn't caulk the top edge above the drip edge. I had to do that myself, so water wouldn't run down the siding and in behind the wrap and ruin the window frame. In the end, Window World of Des Moines did the work I paid for and gave me a $60 discount on the $120 extra charged by the installers. However, working with them was about as pleasant as a double root canal and I will never, ever hire Window World again for anything. They initially managed to make a $1700 installation look much worse than the other 60+ year old windows in our starter home. Even if it now looks acceptable it left my wife and I incredibly frustrated with their lack of customer service and professionalism and our wasted vacation time. Do yourself a favor and pick an installer who can show you good references, even if you pay a bit more. The aggravation with Window World simply isn't worth it! read more

Buyer beware!!! we recently had new siding placed on our home. The materials arrived timely, The work seemed to start, but over the first week, the one person that was working on the siding, showed up a total of 19 hrs in the first week(we came to find out that he was fired, but where was the oversight?). When the manager came to complete the work, he was competent, worked fairly efficient, however left holes in some J channels by trying to use what appeared to be scap pieces(they were on under side so guessing figured nobody would catch it). also didn't do any nails/screws clean up whatsoever. my son ended up with a screw in his tire. it took 2 weeks to get someone out to review the work not done and he didn't have any materials and even said he wasn't sure what the person had done. so then we wait 2 more weeks to even get a call to schedule the clean up and the replacing of J channels, plus adding some that weren't done in the first place. I filed a BBB complaint but that is about worthless evidentially. If use them, I'd get in writing more about inspecting the final work by neutral party just to ensure you aren't duped into shoddy work. Unfortunately, when you are excited to update your home and the last memory you have of the update/project is this poor, it ruins the outcome. read more
