This thing runs on four D size batteries but will light an entire room. So, I go looking for D batteries in preparation. Not only were D batteries a scarcity but flashlights had sold out too. I take a trip to Ace. At first, they had none too. But the staff, the very kind staff, found a box of D cell batteries and then FOUND me wandering around the store to give them to me. The treated wood variety warp almost instantly, and they are useless. Just read the Home Depot reviews. Deckorators I believe is the brand that warped on me. Atlanta Post Caps are EXACTLY what you want for outdoor purposes. They are not tight fitting so the posts can air out and breath. They even have special types of caps for those designs which use the fence caps for helping themselves up deck stairs. The plastic is UV tolerant and they are ready to be painted with a spray paint which offers plastic binding, UV tolerant. I will buy again and the HOA will take them on as replacements for the community, replacing the teated wood caps.

The wood you buy is fully seasoned when you buy it, as opposed to the green stuff they sell at local grocery stores. Green wood is smokey, and hard to burn, seasoned wood is dry, and easy to burn. Oak burns easy, hickory burns hotter and longer, I usually get a mix of both. They also sell cherry, apple and other fruit tree varieties as they have it, which can be great for a smoker. They also carry a good selection of wood building supplies, including old style siding.
