Enjoyed this beautiful venue for our Yacht club's commodore's Ball - celebration of our Officers! The cocktail party was in the aquarium which was very unique. We got to eat shrimp while looking at the aquatic tanks. Seemed odd. But the appetizers were good. They had servers walking around and a few bar stations set up. Nice spread half way too that had a beautiful vegetable spread, cheese and crackers. The windows on the river venue where we ate dinner was decorated nicely. The team working the service were awesome. Friendly and smiling! The food was amazing. I had the chicken piccata and my husband had filet mignon. The chicken was tender and the sauce delicious. My favorite was the green beans with red peppers. Really well done. The dessert was tiramisu. It was also well done. Great job Chefs! The entertainment was Disco Inferno. I am told that my niece just HAD to have her wedding reception here - so the entire wedding was arranged around this venue's availability. So a freaking Friday 3 PM wedding on the west side of town - with a 2 hour window before the 6 PM cocktail/7 PM reception. This was hard to find and once in the parking lot - it was still confusing. The cocktail hour was on a terrace - outdoors and rather chilly. And not wheelchair friendly as my elderly mom could not make it to this part. Uneven flooring, jammed with people and tables and chairs to maneuver. Plus there is no elevator to get her down from the reception area. Just bad planning on all levels (no pun intended). I think the food on the patio was good - it looked good but hubby wasn't hungry and there were so many people, I only ended up trying one chicken skewer thing as a waitress wandered by with a tray. It was very good. I also don't know about bar service as again - we don't drink and hubby never offered to get me a soft drink. Plus - no place to put it and eat while standing, too. So just was well. We were seated upstairs for the reception. The room has these huge metal black steel pillar-beams which blocked my view from everything happening - cutting the wedding cake, bridal dance, etc. And I was seated at the family wedding table. The room was too small for the size of the party. When the dancing started, the music was so loud those seated at tables could not talk. I don't think it was the DJ's fault for having the music too loud - we were just all crammed together right by the dance floor. One good thing - the food was absolutely delicious. I went crazy and had the beef. It was a huge serving. I would have preferred med-rare - but no choice given the size of the party. I was just happy to get a choice: beef, salmon, chicken. The squash was also fantastic - with asiago cheese. YUM! Don't know about the potatoes but they looked good. Rolls were average. Salad was good. And I guess dessert doesn't count as it was wedding cake. I do not recommend this venue for a reception for almost 200 people. Pick a bigger place. I had my wedding here on a Friday in June 2022 and absolutely loved it. You cannot beat the views in the City View room. We had both our ceremony and reception on site, with the cocktail hour in the aquarium. I loved that everything was on site and there was no need for travel between locations for our guests. While planning, we worked with Kathy who was very friendly and responsive to any questions that we had. The ceremony was beautiful in front of the large windows overlooking the river. There is a room that can be used for the bridal party to wait while everyone comes in. It has windows overlooking the City View room from the floor above, so you can watch guests filing in. However, the room is only allowed to be used for waiting- you cannot use it to get ready. It would have been nice to have an on-site area where we could get ready. The cocktail hour was a $1,250 up charge, but I would say it was worth it!! Our guests are still raving that it was the coolest and most unique cocktail hour that they have been to. The food at the reception was AMAZING. We had the grouper, chicken Marsala, and prime rib as our options. The portions were large, and the food came out very hot. All guests were probably served within 15-20 minutes of the head table getting their food, which we were very pleased with. We loved that the cake was included in the price. The cake was moist and delicious. We were concerned about noise from Jacobs Pavilion next door as there was a concert going on that night. However, it was not an issue at all and the DJ's music completely covered up any sound from the concert. There is a "day of coordinator" that the venue has for your wedding. It wasn't exactly communicated what the role was of the coordinator. We saw them once before the ceremony where they introduced themselves. They also helped with counting and sealing up the cards that we received. We were hoping the coordinator would have been a little more involved, with more assistance with coordinating and managing the timeline of the evening. Overall, for the price (especially on a Friday) this venue is definitely worth it. It was everything that I was hoping for and I absolutely loved the views and industrial architecture. It's definitely a bonus to have the Cleveland Aquarium on the first floor as well. I also liked how much the venue takes care of for you. Not having to hire outside vendors for food, drinks, linens, and the cake were a big plus. We also used the house centerpieces provided by the venue, which were simple but met our needs. If I could do it over, I would definitely choose this venue again. read more

We just got married at the City View Room over the weekend for a Friday wedding. Kris was an awesome coordinator to work with! Helped us out and answered all of our questions over the past 1.5 years. Everything turned out perfectly! The food and cake was delicious and everyone loved the open bar!! No complaints really at all!! Two small suggestions - when the bridal party arrives make sure to escort them to the correct bridal room since we didn't know where to go exactly with our bags. And make sure the waitresses don't take any drinks that are full. Some guests thought they were cleaning up the tables too quickly. read more

Absolutely outstanding! Came in on a Saturday night for my daughter's wedding reception in mid June, 2021. The gov had just allowed us to start having fun again, but the labor market is extremely tight, especially in hospitality, as the government will pay you more not to work than to work. Needless to say, the staff at Windows was terrific. We had the service in their largest room with spectacular views of the City, River and Lake. After the service, we shuffled our 200 attendees into another room for cocktails, while they flipped the room for dinner and reception. When dinner started, we were a little bit apprehensive with the COVID induces supply chain issues affecting our meals. Chicken, steak and lobster were all on the menu and I was concerned the lobster tail would be the size of a Crawdad, but it was just fine. Everyone LOVED the food. Heard many comments along the lines of "Best wedding food ever!" Furthermore, the boss running the affair on the floor that night was smart enough to know where the guy paying for the extravaganza was sitting and came up to me several times asking if there was anything else they could do for us. I had nothing to add, other than extremely grateful things were going so well. With 2 bars and 3 bartenders, there was never a line with more than a few people in it waiting for drinks. My daughter and son n love had their reception at the venue Sept 2022. The venue is beautiful, Kathy and Ashlee were amazing, the food was outstanding. They were suppose to have cocktail hour from 5pm - 6 pm but did not get started until 5:25pm and ended at 5:45 pm. Dinner was suppose to start at 6:30 pm and did not start until close to 7:30 pm. To pass the time the bride and groom went to every table to take pictures. I addressed the issue on next business day since cocktail hour was an additional fee. the staff met with my daughter and son which quickly blew them off making excuses and not wanting to be held accountable for their error. I attended a rehearsal dinner here on Friday night and I sure was impressed. The beautiful room, which had a view of the river, more than enough room for the 100+ people attending the rehearsal dinner. My first thought was that Windows on the River was all about the atmosphere so I wasn't expecting very good food, but boy was I wrong. The appetizers were pretty typical (fried, yet delicious), but it was the dinner that really blew me away. We had a choice of sea bass and chicken...but being the pig that I am I went with a little of both. Lately chicken doesn't do it for me, but I may change my mind on that if all the chicken I ate was this good! This was the typical rehearsal dinner with lots of speeches, videos, and more speeches. And this banquet facility was set up just for that...a microphone set up right in front for everyone to praise the bride and poke fun of the groom in true rehearsal dinner fashion. And a HUGE TV for video sharing as well. Highly recommended for any party! And if you're looking for some cheesy fun once the party is over head on downstairs to Howl at the Moon. read more

Windows on the River is a lovely banquet hall located in the Powerhouse on the West bank of the Flats. I went there for their annual Mother's Day Brunch this past weekend with my girlfriend and her two kids and we all had a really nice time. The setting is beautiful; perfect for a wedding or other banquet-type function. The service was attentive, but perhaps not the most well trained in wait staff etiquette, but I'm really reaching at straws here to find a problem. The staff were all very pleasant and aimed to please, which in the end is all one can really ask for. The food was buffet style as expected, with a "Brunch Station" where you find your standard eggs, breakfast meats, potatoes, etc. There was also an omelet station, a pasta station, and a Bloody Mary bar. The Pinnacle of course was the dessert station, which includes a chocolate fountain with various goodies for dipping. No complaints with the quality of the food. The cost was $150 total, which includes the tip, so $37.50 per plate out the door. Did I, or anyone in my party eat $37.50 worth of food? Probably not. Was the experience worth $37.50 per person? Let me put it this way, seeing the smile on my girlfriend's face, and having the honor to get to spend the afternoon with her kids, I would say it was worth every penny and more. read more

Came here for the New Years Eve Party and recommend this over any other event in Cleveland on this night. The open bar, multiple dance floors, access to the aquarium, food, etc. was very well organized and worth the $150. I can't believe I haven't reviewed the place where I had the BEST day of my life - MY WEDDING!! I got married in September of 2014, and it was perfect. Ceremony/Reception We had the ceremony, cocktail hour and the reception at Windows. I couldn't of asked for a better venue. We got married in the Bridge View Room and had about 215 guest in attendance. The ceremony was perfect, and our florist (Elegance Ever After) did an amazing job. The cocktail hour followed the ceremony in a separate room, which was great. During cocktail hour, the venue was able to completely flip the room around and transform it for the reception. Food We did the classic option (filet, chicken and fish + veggie option), but my husband and I were able to upgrade our meal to the filet and salmon combo plate at no additional charge. Our guests had crab cakes, water chestnuts and spinach phyllo cups as appetizers along with a veggie and cheese tray. The servers even saved some for us too! Everyone raved about our meals and said the highlight was the potato nest- it sure was delicious. I've been to Windows for other weddings and I can agree that Windows offers some of the best food I've had at a wedding- not to brag too much ;-) Service Our service was amazing! The servers and bartenders were entertaining and very assertive all night. They were very professional and I had no complaints! Some of my guests even mentioned to me how nice the bartenders were too- Speaking of bartenders they were able to accommodate to our 'wedding drinks'. My husband and I had 2 featured drinks along with an open bar. They even would place beers in the custom koozies we had made! Those were a hit! Cake The wedding cake was from Wild Flour bakery (which is included in your package). There was a little mix up and we ended up getting the cake from the other venue next to us. I honestly didn't realize it until we cut into our top tier the next day. It was not the flavor we ordered and the ribbon was purple- not navy. It was so minimal, but a little disappointing- however Wild Flour gave us a credit to replace the tier for our anniversary. We also ordered a variety of cookie trays from Wild Flour for the dessert table and they were so good! The basic sugar cookie was to die for! All in all, Windows went over and beyond for us and I would recommended this venue to anyone! read more

My sister in laws baby shower was there yesterday. The food was great! The plates looked amazing. They cut and served the cake too which was nice. They also had the cutest ice cream desserts that were served with the cake. The servers had some special touches. When cutting the cake they served my SILs cake with one of the cute fondant animals from her cake on top of it. They also made sure to put the other animal cut outs on the kids cake plates. read more

I came to Windows a couple of years ago for New Year's Eve but that is definitely not what this review is for. This review's for my experience of Windows on Monday for a networking luncheon. I don't think I ever realized how pretty this space is. I love that it's connected to the Aquarium (which I still haven't been to...what's up with that?!) and is right by the river. That view is gorgeous!! We didn't get to walk around the space as much as I'd have liked but the staff was very friendly and the food was tasty! Beautiful wedding venue! I came out to Cleveland for a friend's wedding last weekend and I don't think she could have chosen a cooler spot. From the intimate ceremony adjacent to the reception area to the cocktail hour outside overlooking the river, everything was just awesome. Huge two-story windows, decent enough reception food (including a KILLER caesar salad). I know, weird to highlight the salad of all things. AND DID I MENTION that the reception area overlooked the Cleveland Aquarium's shark tank? I don't know about you but I like drinking wine and gazing at marine predators. Yeah. GO HERE. Really fabulous place to have a wedding reception, banquet, or other such event. I believe there are at least two places inside to go, we were on the back left (from the entrance) on the second floor, and also had control of the beautiful outdoor patio. We went down the stairs directly out of the hall we were in to the patio, where the bar and appetizers were prior to the official starting time and entrance of the wedding party. Quite spacious. We had 250 people and there was plenty of room. Has an interesting view of the city from the flats. Typically, banquet food is exceptionally subpar. NOT. THE. CASE. We had SLABS of prime rib between 1.5 to 2.5 inches thick. Though they were all medium well done, they were full of flavor, tantalizingly tender, and accompanied by some vegetables and tasty twice baked potato. Yum. read more

The software company that my husband works for has had their holiday party here for a few years. I hope they keep coming back. The venue is in an old industrial building with enormous windows overlooking the Cuyahoga River. It's really cool. The staff is extremely kind and professional. They get things done extremely efficiently and look great doing it. They set up a great bar. And the food--the food is so good. The hors d'oeuvres included smoked salmon, shrimp, all kinds of bread, cheese, olives, and pickly things. Everything was delicious and presented so beautifully. Salad, bread, and dinner were all just fantastic. I got salmon but everything at the table was beautiful and decadent. I have thouroughly enjoyed my experiences as a guest in this space. read more

Went to a function here and it was the location was fantastic. Beautiful setting across from the Flats on the river, and gorgeous building with awesome finishes. Really nicely planned and design, the industrial feel still has a warm and welcoming feel. Tons of parking, water taxi to the Flats right outside, and very easy to find and get to. I have been in contact with this wedding venue since April. Due to covid-19, understandably I was unable to view the space. I asked the women I have been in contact with Kris, when she would be available and her response was "check in periodically". Well, I already had a problem with this because shouldn't she reach out to ME when she had more information as to when she can show me etc?! Anyway, I have followed up and she had continued to annoy me with her short and chopping responses via email, that I had asked for another person to help... turns out there isn't anyone else and this lady, from what I was told is their GENERAL MANAGER! She had stopped responding to my initial messages but when I made a whole new inquiry on their website with the SAME information she responded! She tells me in the second inquiry that she is available to show the space the next day but the initial email that she finally responds to she says she is NOT! She was not very accommodating and offered no additional service such as a FaceTime or Virtual tour etc.Eventually, one of my friends was able to view the space on my behalf where she had a 2pm apt scheduled. Kris was no where to be found at 2pm, was rude to my friend when she was finally located and acted as though she didn't want to nor had the time to show the space! This is a location that was on the top of our list and in the end, we opted to select a different venue. But solely because Kris did not want to accommodate us and work with me as she should with a bride to be. I am HIGHLY disappointed in the lack of professionalism, willingness to help and additional stress this women caused and displayed to me in a time that should be happy and exciting for me as a bride! Additionally, it's disappointing that the only number available to call never gets answered, I have never once been able to get a hold of anyone including Kris on the phone to try and remedy this situation. I completely 100% understand that we are living a "new normal" and during these current unprecedented and sensitive times things are highly stressful for all. However, I still expect a certain level of customer service and professionalism especially with the expenses that come with the planning of a wedding. I visited this venue as an out-of-towner for their annual New Year's Eve party. The concept was pretty simple - about $90 for a ticket and you'll get appetizers and open bar all night, a DJ and a party to ring in the new year. The venue had multiple rooms hosting parties, all accessible through your ticket. Bf and I pretty much stayed in one room (what I think was the main room). It was set up nicely, with a big dance floor and lots of round tables to set up camp with friends. The decorations were lovely without being over the top and they had multiple bars set up so the lines wouldn't get too out of control. The food looked good and seemed to be pretty popular, but we opted to get dinner before so I didn't try any. The open bar was pretty well stocked and I was pleased that the liquors were a bit above well, or bottom shelf, quality. They had plenty of mixers and garnishes but did start to run out of the more popular things (alcohol included) closer to the end of the night. Pretty much expected for this type of party. The DJ blew a fuse a couple of times but overall did a good job, and the electrical issues probably weren't his fault really. I think I'm kind of phasing out of this kind of party scene for NYE. They did a good job for their event, but I think I would have had more fun in a dark cozy bar somewhere. I thought it was a bit overpriced, but that could be because I didn't take advantage of the food and can only drink so much before the open bar isn't appealing anymore. Not knocking them for my preferences though, they pulled off a successful event. Awesome that they let you access your tickets through the EventBrite phone app as well. Saved the headache of printing tickets and/or accidentally forgetting them. read more

Why is it ALWAYS freezing in here? Three times I've been here during three different seasons and every single time I felt like I was in the middle of the Arctic. Moving on...I just don't get WOTR. I think the idea of it is great but the execution is pretty crappy. This place needs a major update. The brick is worn, the carpet looks like it's harboring dust and stains from decades ago and the bright green exposed beams look soooooo 80s. I think this place has the potential to be really nice, the owners just need to put some TLC into the property to make it more sleek and modern. On the plus side, the food isn't too bad. As a florist i have done over 15 weddings at this venue and was underwhelmed. However, i had the honor of attending a close freinds wedding and reception at this venue tonight. And i have to say...hands down best service, food, and staff i have ever had or been served by. As a venor for these types of events, it takes alot to impress me, I AM IMPRESSED!!! read more

We hosted our daughter and son in law's wedding at Windows on the River this past July. Everyone associated with the venue went above and beyond to ensure that our event went off without a hitch. The food was excellent and served promptly and hot! Not an easy task when providing meals for nearly 200 guests. We opted to hold the cocktail hour at the adjoining Aquarium. The best decision we made. Our guests were able to take advantage of the entire Aquarium while enjoying cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. If you can add this option, by all means, do it. My daughter took advantage of many Windows on the River's preferred vendors, taking the guesswork out of their ability to coordinate with the venue. I loved this venue for the most part. Great food, gorgeous views, beautiful rooms and set up. However, some of the employees are a bit out of control which definitely impacted the evening. There was a fight between two employees that shut down the men's room, 2 of my bridesmaids had money stolen from them before the ceremony, and our bartender was passing drinks to people outside the venue all night. I was really upset about the lack of apologies or attempts to make things right from the venue. read more

New Years party was horrible. They made everyone stand out in the cold for two hours after it was supposed to start. The place was over booked and you had to wait in line for 30 minutes to get a half oz of champaign. Coat check people stole my jacket. No one really seemed to care. Go elsewhere. read more

I dread going to events scheduled at this place. It's not just that the food typically is dried out or not warm or stale. Today the upholstery of the chairs at my table for a 200+ person awards banquet were hideously stained - nothing sends me up the wall faster or says "we don't care" more than filthy seating. The hot water in the women's restroom - nonexistent. In fact it was ice cold. Yes, the view of the city is nice. So what? Are there no other decent banquet facilities in the city? Came here for the New Year's party. So according to the event site, the party included: -Three Rooms of Entertainment -Top Shelf OPEN Bar -Hot & Cold Hors D'ouevres Buffett -The Greater Cleveland Aquarium till 10 PM -Passed Wine & Champagne in the Aquarium -Photo Booths in each room -Lounge Areas in each room -Ballon Drop -Party Favors -TV's to watch NCAA Football Playoffs Price: $125 each before 12/18; after 12/18 was $150 each The party started at 8pm and went to 1am. We arrived a little after 8 and there was a huge line winding around the building. The line moved incredibly slowly. It would've been great if there were heat lamps outside or something. The crowd was definitely dressed to impress (guys wearing suits and girls wearing cocktail dresses and ball gowns). The checking in process at the front seemed a bit disorganized. We checked in with one guy at a computer and then walked over to another person for a bracelet, who then asked us if we checked in with the guy at the computer. Coat check was simple enough, hand in your coats, get a ticket. So we decided to check out the aquarium first since it was right where we checked out coats. This part definitely made the venue unique and was probably my favorite part. The event page said there would be "passed wine and champagne" in the aquarium. All that was was a little table set up at the beginning of the aquarium and cups of wine and champagne for you to grab. The open bars were packed as expected. The bartenders were all very friendly and seemed to have a lot of fun dancing along with the rest of us. The biggest disappointment in all this was food. For $150 per person, we were expecting better food or at least more variety. The food included pizza, regular sized hamburgers (with slider buns??), fries, mac and cheese, cheese tray and antipasto and crab cake stuffed in crab shell. I think there was also macaroni salad or a baked ziti but still... I guess I was just expecting something fancier considering the venue, the way everyone was dressed and the price of the ticket. The DJs they had were okay. They were all playing the typical hits you would hear at a party, all given the club-vibe with beats added.
