Unfortunately, she has a fair amount of pretty serious health issues, has suffered from anxiety in large social settings with peers, and had a lot of trepidation about starting Pre-K. I had heard plenty of good things about a lot of local preschools, and we did our research. But the second we toured Village, we knew this was the best place for her. These teachers went out of their way, even way before school started, to make her feel comfortable, safe, and at home. They love and nurture her as if she was their own child, and she has really blossomed under their care. She trusts her teachers completely (a huge deal for her) and passionately LOVES school. It has been the completely perfect first school experience for her. Their emphasis on kindness and character-building create a classroom of kids who really support and enjoy each other, and their projects and activities are always so beautifully age appropriate and imaginative. The small class sizes allow for plenty of individualized instruction and addressing of multiple learning styles. They mix traditional approaches such as phonics and penmanship with new-world educational methods like STEM integration and mind-body techniques. My daughter has especially loved the geographical and cultural studies undertaken by the staff (with incredible creativity) and all of the opportunities for community outreach. She starts kindergarten in September, and thanks to this ideal experience at Village, she feels positive and confident. We are so lucky to have this treasure in our community. I get really teary thinking about it. This has been such a special year for my child and for us as her parents, all thanks to this awesome school and the amazing women who run it. I truly believe VNS is exactly what Pre-K should be.

Our daughter has been at Pattycake Playhouse for about two years now and I will be forever grateful for the switch. From the day we visited the facility, to her very first day, we all felt the constant encouragement, support and nurturing hand that a child should feel when they are away from their home and family. The staff at Pattycake has always shown great professionalism. Our daughter has had the opportunity to have great teachers who truly work hard with showing these kids many different skills and keeping them active on a day to day basis. Some teachers have gone but thankfully because of the professionalism, the trade-off worked well. (That was a concern for us because of a previous experience at a different facility). The other important factor in which we enjoy is the updates we receive about our daughter, the pictures and the day to day activities we get to see with the use of the app. This app also allows for immediate messaging which allows for quick communication between us and the teachers which for first timers gives a sense of piece of mind. Pattycake also makes family a big part of their facility with many activities for you as a parent to be involved in. From parties, holiday celebrations, conferences, mystery reader and more. These are important as it allows you to be a part of your child's school community and get valuable information about your child's development. I was told I had to join in order to reserve the court. The courts were horrible and there was a clinic for young children going on so the noise was outrageous. It was a painful experience to play there. The desk was too busy on my way out and I forgot to end my membership. I had it on automatic pay. I called eventually and was told I had to write and email in order to cancel. I did so, and now I receive another monthly charge. I know I was stupid in signing up in the first place. Just know that this is not a place to play tennis and that there is a hard sales pitch to join.

It was definitely hard leaving my infant in someone else's care for the first time ever but the staff at Victoria's Castle were patient, and accommodating to our family needs. I love that they offer Angel Watch, it's great to log in and view your little one interacting with other children and being taught and loved by the teachers. The care my daughter receives is genuine, I feel like she's in the care of her aunties. I actually look forward to seeing a number of staff each and every day.

However, when the original start date came and went, I never received any communication letting me know that her flight had been delayed or providing an updated timeline. I had to reach out myself for answers. I understand that the handbook states deposits are non-refundable, and I respect that policy. My issue is not with the deposit policy--it's with the lack of communication. As a business owner entrusted with caring for children, it's important to keep parents informed, especially when changes affect their child's start date. Good communication builds trust, and unfortunately that was missing in my experience. I hope this feedback encourages better communication with future families.
