My sister and I stayed here for a long weekend -- the bed was comfy, the place was quiet (even with the other unit occupied), the neighborhood felt safe, and the free parking was a huge plus. It's a cozy and refreshing place to stay in after months of being cooped up for shelter-in-place. A lot of restaurants were open nearby for takeout and Erehwon was conveniently a few minutes away. Meeting Gary and Jaime was awesome, my sister and I had some pleasant & socially-distanced conversations with them. They were attentive, kind, and lovely hosts :-) COVID-19-related note: the kitchen / entrance area is shared with folks that are staying in the other unit. We felt safe enough to be in that room with masks on and to eat a meal, but know this if this is something you're concerned about. Absolutely stay here if you're considering it!

This review is for CORONADO STUDIO:…read more We had a family wedding to attend in Pasadena in May, and decided to stay in the Silver Lake area where the groom (my husband's brother) lives since that's where pre-wedding events would be taking place. So six family members ended up renting all three Sanborn properties for the weekend, each had very positive things to say. My husband and I stayed at the Coronado for four nights and absolutely loved it! For $85 a night, you can't beat having a full kitchen and FREE wifi! I think we managed to only buy two meals while were were on our trip. We spent about $100 on groceries at the Smart & Final near the apartment, and cooked most of our meals there, which saved us a ton of money! The host we talked to a couple of times, Jonathon, was very friendly and helped us with our luggage right off the bat. One huge plus was not having to clean the apartment before we checked out. I have rented a handful of houses before which we always had to "clean" ourselves if we didn't want to pay extra. The Coronado did not make us clean (even though we did as much as we could to not look like slobs upon leaving for common courtesy). I saw other people complain about thin walls, and hearing the other tenants in the building. That was never an issue while we were there. One of our favorite features was the rear entry to the private parking area. We didn't use the front door once while we were there. The only thing I would want to mention is that the driveway to the private parking is SO narrow, it would be unlikely that anything other than a small SUV or car could make it up the driveway. There's no way a Tahoe or anything large like that would be able to utilize the private parking. It worked fine for us in our Jeep Patriot, but we had to be very careful. The apartment isn't in the best neighborhood, but it seemed safe enough while we were there, and it's just minutes from Silver Lake and some great shopping on Sunset Blvd. There was a great view of the city at night from our balcony, and I really enjoyed looking out at night when the city was all lit up. All and all, we very much enjoyed our stay at the CORONADO and would highly recommend it, and stay there again. We also visited Tyler's Place where my in-laws were staying, and it was really nice. I probably wouldn't stay there however, as they had to share a kitchen with other guests they didn't know. That would work great if both sides of the house were being rented by people in your party though.

We had everything toasty in no time at all. The parking was not a problem at all, and most mornings we walked to a nearby coffee shop. It was lovely to sit on the patio and feel the sun on our faces (we live in the PNW). The location is close to a lot - Griffith Park, museums, Hollyweird. You wont have to struggle for too long in traffic. I'd say location is probably ideal. I like having a sitting area, some kitchen space, and a patio. That makes this the choice for you if you also want more than a room with a bed. It is an old building, imperfect but charming, a touch drafty but able to warm up. As long as you realize up front that this isn't going to be a hotel experience I dont think you'll have any regrets. Home state for breakfast tacos, Intelligentsia for coffee. Enjoy!

The LINE Hotel Los Angeles…read more The lobby bar at The LINE Hotel is hands down the best hotel happy hour and lunch experience I've had. Do yourself a favor and go. We ordered the following: Chicken Fingers & Fries These were easily the best chicken fingers and fries I've ever had. The chicken was battered to perfection -- crispy, flavorful, and not overly heavy. The fries were absolutely out of this world. Tuna Tartare The tuna was incredibly fresh, and the sweet potato plantain chips paired perfectly with it. Artichoke & Spinach Dip The perfect balance of artichoke, spinach, and cheese. Rich without being overwhelming. Veggie Burger My friend's daughter ordered the veggie burger with sweet potato fries and loved it. The bartender was also incredible. He made me a K-Town Mule and kindly substituted the Plantation "3 Stars" Rum for vodka at my request. 10/10 experience. Great food, great drinks, and an even better atmosphere.

It's pretty affordable,…read moreit cost about $500 for two nights including tax, though there was a $70 resort fee (about $35/day) despite the only resort feature being the pool. It is a contemporary boutique hotel located near Koreatown. While I did not spend much time at the property beyond sleeping, I did enjoy the pool and spent a few hours relaxing there one afternoon. The room was a good size, though not especially large, and featured a modern, minimalist design with exposed concrete and a large window overlooking the pool. The bed was comfortable, and there was plenty of space in the bathroom. While the room was a good size for a single person, not sure it would be as comfortable for two people over the course of a few days. The hotel is a quick Uber ride to downtown Los Angeles, where I went for dinner one evening. Overall, I would recommend it if you need a hotel in this area. However, it is not within easy walking distance of many attractions.
