Windstar Kennels is a wonderful boarding option for pups in the Longmont area! We took our greyhound to Windstar quite a few times before he passed away, and he had a great time there! Cathy and her husband are the owners (Windstar Kennels is right at their home - a farm on northeast Longmont) and we usually just dealt with Cathy who is very sweet and chatty. She loved to tell us about the other greyhound guests that frequented the kennels. Some highlights: -The kennel is only $18 a night! That is a great deal. I think it is $20 on holidays. -Medication is administered for free! (this was a big deal for us!) -Playtime at least 3 times a day. -Apparently cats are $10 a day, but we've never taken our cat there. I definitely recommend this place highly. read more

I just moved to Boulder and had to go away for a wedding and no one to watch my little guy, Gunther. Without Windstar Kennels this might have been a stressful situation but luckily they came to the rescue! I called and received a phone call back within 30 minutes. The gentleman I spoke with was kind and was excited to learn all about Gunther. A few days later I dropped him off and met the owner, knowing Gunther would be well taken care of. It's nice to know they have a lot of playtime, getting to socialize 4 times a day. It was definitely affordable too and I am so thankful we found such a great place for Gunther to stay when we go out of town. We will certainly be using Windstar Kennels again! read more

We tried Windstar based on its generally positive reviews and price, but things didn't go well. Our dog normally does well with kenneling but came home a mess after saying here. It took about 3 days for him to start eating and sleeping again and for the first time in 7 years he is terrified of going into his kennel at our house. Not sure what happened during his stay at Windstar, but we'll definitely be staying far far away from this place in the future. read more

AVOID - YOUR DOG WILL GET SICK: We recently moved to Longmont from Fort Collins where we successfully boarded our dog with multiple kennels. We decided to try Windstar based on price (best in town) and location. We've now boarded our 4 year old dog here twice and both times she ended up sick and at the vet within days of pickup. Our first trip was in December 2011 where she stayed for 4 nights before Christmas. She started vomiting after we got her home and after she failed to get better we took her to the vet 2 days later where she was treated with antibiotics for an infection. We thought it may have been a fluke so we tried them again in Feb 2012 and dropped her off for 3 nights. This time was much worse... 1) She was ice cold when they brought her into the waiting room for pickup - It seems like they may not heat the sleeping area 2) She had a cut on her head 3) She had diarrhea as soon as we got her home 4) The next day she started vomiting again. A trip to the vet showed that her intestinal track was swollen and that she had another infection. There's definitely something about this place that isn't right. I'd recommend looking elsewhere for boarding or else any cost savings you may realize from choosing Windstar could quickly be eaten up in veterinarian bills. read more

LOVE Windstar! The owners are veteran beagle handlers & treat all of their 4-legged guests well. Kennels are clean, plenty of space & they get tons of play time. Best of all, they are extremely flexible with us. I'd recommend them to anyone nearby! read more

Have left my 3 dogs at Windstar 2 times now. Staff is friendly and professional. Made me feel comfortable leaving the dogs...but the dogs being happy and calm when I picked them up was the true test. Had them groomed the 2nd time, and they looked perfect! Very reasonable prices, and no extra charges for meds or walks or individual play time, etc. Just one cost per dog per day. Other kennels drive you crazy with these extra charges. I recommend them to everyone...they are good to the dogs, and the dogs are happy staying there. read more

This is the second time that our Miss Maggie has stayed at Windstar. It's a great facility, modern, clean but most of all caring people. Maggie is not a kennel dog, she normally stays with family while we're away, but I have no qualms about her staying there. read more

My pup has been going to doggy daycare at Windstar for almost a year and has been boarded on a few occasions. The owners are great! My pup always leaves happy and tired and is always happy to return. Thanks for all you do! read more

Wonderful place, have been taking my dog there to be groomed and for daycare and he loves it! Susan the groomer does an excellent job bathing, shaving, and clipping my dog's nails. As for daycare he always comes home exhausted and happy. Great place, highly recommend it!! read more

While they were great and cheap for grooming, I still stopped going to them. It is just my fiance, me and my little dog. I took her in to get groomed and a few days after my dog had caught kennel cough which is passed through other dogs and contaminated surfaces. So I took her to the vet and got her treated. I didn't blame Windstar and it didn't discourage me from taking her back except, I figured I should probably call and let them know that she did receive it because she is never around other dogs because she is scared to death of them. When I finally got ahold of someone they were extremely rude and very defensive. I kept repeating, "I'm not blaming Windstar but you may want to let the other owners know and possibly disinfect everything" they replied with rudeness and said "so,what exactly do you want from us reimbursement for the vet? Because no other dog has it. I replied no but seeing as how you take care of families furry children I thought it would be good for them to know. I have no idea if they ever told any of the owners, and frankly the talk I had with them got me nowhere. They acted very unprofessional and immature. Ever since then I refuse to goto them. And my fury child hasn't had kennel cough since. Their "product" was nice but their attitude was terrible. read more

Well what can I say. I would not board here again. It was dirty and smelled with loads of flies everywhere. I really had second thoughts when they made me sign a form releasing their responsibility if my dogs died. I have never had anyone make me sign something before in all my years of dog ownership. My dog did get very sick after staying there. I feel a great deal of guilt over it. read more

My dog hasn't been kenneled in about a year and recently had almost a two week stay at Windstar. We thought he'd be clawing to get to us when we picked him up. Instead he was mellow(he's rarely mellow) and relaxed and happy. They were very loving towards him and were sad to see him go. In addition, they threw in a bath for him. He came home and went right to sleep and fell right back into his routine like he didn't miss a beat. Very impressed! read more

We recently tried Windstar to board our border collie. We were really happy with the service and staff. I liked that the kennel wasn't too big. I felt that care was given to our pet. I liked all the separate outdoor areas and the kennels with outdoor runs. It was clean and tidy when we toured which was also nice to see. Our dog came back really clean after her bath and happy! We plan to use Windstar again. They are also really reasonably priced! read more

I recently boarded my two dogs for almost two weeks and on my return they were happy, relaxed and had been bathed. There has been new ownership since early this year and there has been some changes but all for the better. The kennels are clean, staff friendly and professional, and the owner Michael really takes the time to understand your needs and those of your dogs. This is a great kennel! My dog Gizmo loves it here. They treat him like thier own pet and I can tell he gets a lot of attention from the owners as he is always very excited to see them. It is an exceptional value. Almost all other kennels in the area charge extra for "playtime" or attention. With windstar it is included and they truley love the pets the care for. I recently took him into get groomed and it was $35 and they cut his nails for me. At my vet that would have cost $55 (he is a lhasa apso, hard to cut) plus an additional $13 for the nails. They are truly great people delivering superior quality and care for my dog. You can thell they really enjoy what they do. Highly recomended! read more

The staff at Windstar recently helped me out of a difficult spot when my pet sitter cancelled at the last minute. The facility is small and tucked away, and MIchael, owner, lives on-site. I was concerned about my dog having t-storm anxiety at night - Micheal walks the kennels after hours to make sure that everyone is safe and calm. My little friend came out happy, relaxed, and smelling great, having made lots of new friends during playtime, which he loved. As an animal lover, it is not hard to tell when others feel the same - Michael is one of those people. Highly recommended. And by the way, I am a veterinarian:) read more

This is the second time I have boarded my Boxer and he loves it! The place is clean, prices are very reasonable and they really care about the dogs. I have taken Sam to other places and he got separation anxiety and got very sick every time! read more

We have used Windstar Kennel twice. Our dog refused to enter the kennel on second visit. The dogs harnesses are taken off and choker placed on them. Our food was used to feed other dogs. They also raised prices in one month without letting us know ahead of time except at checkout. Also, times are rigid and not flexible. We will not use this kennel again. read more
