So, it turns out that it is really hard to find a kite shop in the current age. My son and I were reading a book about kite flying at the beach and he became fascinated with the idea. I remembered a kite store from my childhood in Southern California and thought we'd basically just pop down the street and find one. Since this is Florida after all. Nope. But, after a strangely large amount of searching, we found this shop and it has a great selection of kites in various price ranges. It also sells all kinds of other wind accessories and Christmas ornaments and garden decor. I was a bit worried that that would mean the kites were not very good, but we've had a great experience with our $20 something parrot kite. We use it all the time. So, for other Yelp searchers out there, looking to harness the wind while running up a white sand beach, look no further. read more

Hubby was so excited about this place after we picked our vacation destination St. Petersburg. He really loves windchimes and I agreed to buy him one for our anniversary. Wellllll turns out the one he wanted was not in our budget so we settled for a kite instead. The staff was really cool about answering our questions about all the stuff. They sell a neat collection of wind chimes, decorative coconut bowls, kites, and various other neat knick knacks. It was fun to come in here and just look at everything. read more

I liked it here. It has a variety of wind-related things like windmills, kites, windchimes, garden decorations. Everything was very colorful. As avid kite fliers (and kite ruiners) my bf and I decided to go in search of more stable options thinking that FL would be the place to search. Unfortunately it seems that the day when the kite business was booming has passed, but we did however stumble upon WindWorks in our search. Upon entering the store is clean and bright and truly offers all things wind oriented....and an abundance of our sought item lined the walls....animal kites...box kites.....stunt kites....childrens kites...you name it. I am one who just likes to sit and watch something cool in motion---I opted for an amazing 3D black and grey pirate ship fully equipped with 9 sails and a tail. Yea, I'm going to make young children jealous alright. B opted for a stunt kite. Prior to buying our selected items the owner of 9 years, Joe came out and sparked a conversation with my partner in crime. His enthusiasm and knowledge was evident and he directed us to a better stunt kite...and low and behold it was less expensive then the one we had originally chosen! Not only that but he shipped them back to Brooklyn for us---they just arrived today. I can't say enough about their customer service, we'll definitely be customers for life! Thanks Joe! read more

The only reason I gave one star is because you cannot give zero. The owner of this establishment is rude and arrogant. He mumbles under his breath criticizing you and your ability to fly certain kites. I will never shop there again. Would rather pay for shipping. The only reason he's still in business is because it's tourist not local people that are most of his customers. SHAME ON YOU!!! read more

On our trip to Madeira Beach we went here twice. The first time the lady in the store was wonderful; however the second time we left with a sour taste in our mouths as the lady (another one) was rude needless to say we placed what would of been our second purchase right back on the shelf and left. read more
