Another volunteer raved about their cheeses and farm to table dining events. Once I went to an event, I was hooked. I've now been visiting this magical place for the farm to table lunches or dinners each summer for the past 4 years. They also have some dates in the spring and fall. Jody and his wife Luisa, who was raised in Tuscany, run this farm. When you first arrive, you start with an aperitivo (addictive,delicious bread with olive oil and salt) in a beautiful, expansive barn. You'll also be offered a flute of rose or prosecco, water, or sparking water. There may have been another non-alcoholic beverage option. During this time, each duo in your dinner party will see Luisa and select a bottle of wine for dinner. They import the wines from the Tuscany region of Italy. You'll hang around for half an hour (more or less) until a group farm tour led by Jody starts. Since you'll be touring the farm, wear some comfortable shoes. He brings you around to the rams, stalls where the sheep rest, cheese making room, and cheese storage room. After the tour, the group returns to the barn for lunch or dinner. Lunch and dinner include antipasti, primo piatto, and dolce. Dinner includes an additional course of secondo piatto. The menu is already set ahead of time, but don't worry, every bit is absolutely delicious. The antipasti changes, but has consisted of 2-3 cheeses, salumi, few crostinis with toppings, a frittata-like slice, and cippolini onions soaked in balsamic vinegar. I could live off this kind of plate for the rest of my life. The primo piatto is a handmade pasta (ravioli, malloreddus, gnudi, etc). The second piatto is meat (pork medallions, braised chicken thighs, etc). For dolce, I've only had the Panna cotta, made with their ricotta.This is all served at a leisurely place. You'll be seated with your dinner party, and also next to other lucky diners at an extra long table. At the end of dinner, I've never gone home empty handed and end up buying a few of their farm's cheeses (Pecorino Al Tartufo if I'm lucky), salumi, limoncello, and their extra virgin olive oil. It's a perfect spot to bring guests from out of town. All my friends and family who have visited rave about this experience. Jody and Luisa are welcoming and very hard working people. I can't imagine how many hours they must put into working on this farm during weekdays, and then on the weekends hosting these lunches and dinners. The experience is well worth the price.

I brought my two kids here and as usual was worried about what the baby, who is 1 year old, would want to do or try to get into since this is a museum. The very friendly woman at the desk was so encouraging of letting the baby explore and touch everything. This museum is very educational but kids can touch and play with everything. It's not one of those museums where you are constantly reminding your kids not to touch something. There are exhibits representing many different places and cultures, and the kids can play in all of them. There is a Central American kitchen with items stocked in the kitchen that would commonly be found in that region. There is a Japanese tea house, a Parisian cafe, a West African market (my personal favorite as there are so many fruits and vegetables that one wouldn't see here and cards describing what each plant is), a rainforest where you can learn about how chocolate is made and hold and smell a real cocoa pod. Such a cool place. If we lived closer, I'd take the kids every weekend. Still plan on going multiple times a year. It's just such a unique place.

It created an obsession with the thought of riding a hot air ballon - drifting through the clouds, flying high above the world, alone with my thoughts, admiring the splendor of world around me. I was slightly delusional!! In reality hot air ballooning is HARD work! Don't get me wrong, all the beauty of my fantasy was certainly possible (though I never got to find out due to unstable winds), but I never knew that amount of precision, brute strength, and sheer luck that ballooning requires. The experience was worth it all the same, but here are some pieces of advice for those ballooning novices (like me) to make the most of your balloon adventure: 1. Get there SUPER early! The first flight is usually around dawn, I suggest you get there far in advance to ensure you find parking and call dibs on a good pilot. Around 5 am is a safe bet. 2. Bundle up - by that I mean dress like its the dead of winter. Temperatures on the ground will be cold enough, once you get up to higher altitudes in the balloon ... fogetaboutit! Freezing! 3. Realistic expectations - keep in mind that that flying is all about the winds/ weather. If they are not in your favor you'll be grounded. If you are grounded, like I was, you'll still have a fabulous time at the festival. There is so much to do and see. My favorite part was admiring all the filled balloons and the lighting ceremony.

Great experience, one of the most beautiful Black Labs we've ever seen and great naturally raised beefalo. Just wish I didn't live 5 hours away.
