It was a wood plank project in the shape of a tree with the phrase o' come let us adore him. Sheri the owner offered hot cocoa and wine. She led the instructions, gave stencils and all supplies, she also had already put the wood together and screwed it in. The second time I visited was a valentines theme. This one was a string art project. The board said love but the o in Love was actually a heart out of string art.. again Sheri was awesome and included all supplies and led each step of the way. Music plays everyone chats it is a very hipster vibe with colorful art all over the walls she has made.. it is all for sale on the walls as well. The most recent time I visited I had Sheri host my birthday party. I picked the art craft and went with the newly trendy "welcome sign" wood plank for the front porch. My friends fell in love with the little charismatic house and had the best girls night. This place is great and I always come out with the cutest crafts. Liz taught me how to make two stained glass pieces. You start with making a practice piece: you…read morelearn how to cut & grind the glass, wrap copper foil on the pieces and use flux to solder the pieces together. After I finished my practice pace, I made a stained glass Christmas box with a ribbon on it. Photo below! Her studio is in her basement; it is very well appointed with high ceilings and all the safety equipment that you need for working with glass. Her classes are small, so everyone gets individual attention and support! My granddaughter (age 28) had been there before; she designed and made her own 10"panel with over 20 pieces of glass! The first picture shows the two pieces that I made, the second one is my granddaughter's. 10 out of 10 I would highly recommend Liz and the Glass Patch. If this 77-year-old grandmother can do it, so can you! It was a terrific experience!

I recently attended the beginner class "Intro to Modern Brush Calligraphy" with Kimberly at The…read moreNewton and I loved it!! The class comes with the Tombow dual pack pens (hard and soft brush), a personalized dot grid notebook and the beginner's guide to modern calligraphy that you can take home and practice after class. She also includes a drink ticket which can be redeemed for booze or non-alcoholic drinks. Kimberly was super detailed in explaining some of the jargon used in modern calligraphy. She made it simple and easy to understand. She went they the 10 basic strokes step by step and had us practice while we followed along. After we got some of the basics down, she taught us the lower-case alphabet. The class is great - lots of examples and hands-on practice. She also goes around and helps adjust the angles of your brush and hand and gives out pointers. The Location: The Newton (inside the Changing Hand's book store) One of the first things that Kimberly said in class was that she doesn't pick locations that don't serve booze. Some times you need a little liquid courage to numb that "perfectionist" mentality. Loved the location. It had a parking lot (free) and restrooms right around the corner. It's on the other side of the bar inside the Changjng Hand's bookstore - which serve coffees, teas and booze. I highly recommend this class to anyone's that's interested in learning. Kimberly is high energy and is super positive! She never makes you feel bad and is a great instructor.
