The hostess was extremely friendly and she appeared to be very knowledgeable about the plans and how to take care of them. Not only did we get to make our own planter, but we also got to check out a new brewery or 'new to us' as We both had never been to Round Town brewery. The tender there was very courteous and offered samples and even suggested a really good mixture of their beers. For the actual event, it's pretty low-key and casual. You walk in and make sure you find whoever is hosting it so you can check in. Then you find the class that you want and sit there. Whomever is leading the event will walk you through every step of the way and answer any questions you have. The only thing that I felt was a little bit misleading about this event was that you pay for admission and then you also have to pay for a supplies fee on top of that. I feel like it would just be so much easier if you just clumped it all into one free.

I like the variety of their pictures as well as the location of their events. They travel to various restaurants to use as venues. Two of my visits have been to the Hard Rock Cafe downtown Indianapolis and one to the Spaghetti Factory since that is fairly close to my home. The restaurant staff tends to be very friendly and you get your choice of the entire menu and bar. So lots of variety, a big plus... but you also need to tip, a little downside... well I do tend to spend way too much on food and drink always... Generally the event is set up in a smaller private room, this way we can paint and follow the instructor without the usual restaurant/bar noises, which is a good thing. The instructors/artists tend to be funny or at least try... there are just so many jokes you can make and so if you go more often, you'll hear the same jokes again. They also try to entertain you with silly games while you wait for your paint to dry, because we all know, just watching the paint dry is not a highly rated activity. So far they have always been helpful if you need more paint, towels, help with the picture, repeat instructions cause you were running your mouth and not paying attention... And let's just mention that you really truly do NOT need any talent in order to paint a picture once the artists break it down for you into little easy to follow steps. And generally there are some discount codes flying around, I found a Groupon for my session and you can win a free event sometimes, and generally they give you a discount code to use for your next event.. that's how they keep you coming back ... a fun experience, a cool picture to brag with and a discount code...

Very hands on without being overly hovering. It was really cool to have so many options both in what we made and the colors and styles to choose from. We all really enjoyed the experience and were so pleased with the help and advice we received from their instructors. I was really appreciative of the way they really stepped in to help my 2 children as they needed, allowing me to keep on working away in my own art project. They have some examples to help give you ideas and believe them when they tell you that they can help you draw items onto your shoes for you to paint. It felt like they are dedicated to helping people carry out the vision they have for their project.

I will never attend another standard paint night again, and I would recommend the space for all sorts of events. The vibe and the purpose for the space is so cool, specifically designed to hold space for black and international artists, and you are definitely treated like family by everyone there.

Attended my first mosaic workshop here with a few friends and was amazed at the results…read more First off this is located at the Stutz building, on the third floor, quite near the elevator, so it's not that hard to find. There are plenty of paid parking lots and street parking available around the area. Keep in mind that street parking is free on Sundays. Communication is outstanding, with reminder e-mails, detailed maps on how to find the studio, where to park and after your class instrutions on applying the grout. But let's get to the classes. Currently this location "only" offers Turkish Mosaic Lamp workshops. However, you can choose your type of lamp, or just a globe or candleholder. Entirely up to you and your budget. It is not cheap, but neither are the materials needed. You will be seated at a tablel with seemingly endless mosaic glass options in so many great colors, it's going to be tough to choose a color combination. There are a few suggestions on their website as far as color combinations go. And of course you will need to decide what type of pattern you will be creating. Another tough decision. You will get a two-sided sheet with various patterns you could follow, or you can feel free to create your own. Our instructor was Kurt, a most patient man, as I dragged about a dozen of folks with me as usual and there were a couple of other folks besides our group and with that every last seat was taken. He answered question after question and refilled bead and glass shapes continuously. Showed us how to glue things in place, made suggestions, helped here and there with project gone awry and somehow still managed to share a bit about his home country of Turkey. There are little lit platforms where you can check what your lamp will look like when completed, and also an actual lamp you can hold your masterpiece to and get a better idea. Once you are done with your pattern, you get to create your own mix of tiny glass beads and apply those in all the 'free' spaces. then you are done with studio time. You are given grout and instructed on how to apply this once your project has reasted at least 12 hours. (you will also get an e-mail the next day, reminding you and a link for the instructions again). You will also get your lamp part , if you chose to make a lamp, and the bulb to go with it. All is neatly in a nice sturdy bag so you can add your globe and your grout to it also and have it all together in one place. Highly recommend this experience and I am hoping that they will add some of the different workshops that are offered at other locations. Fingers crossed.

We stumbled upon Art of You while strolling through Fountain Square this past Saturday. The owner…read moreput on her first "community day" and we got to paint a canvas for free! She was super friendly and made us feel welcome as soon as we stepped through the door. While we painted, she gave supernatural numerology readings to any guests who wanted one. I did not personally receive a reading, but my friend got one, and it was very fun to learn about! The inside of the shop is bright and loud. The walls are covered in colorful paintings from floor to ceiling, there is a rack full of artsy clothes for sale, and a couch in the center of the space. Halfway through painting, I also noticed a cat curled up on top of the couch. He's a very calm and friendly guy - an adorable painting buddy. Usually, a painting day costs $20, and she offers a wide array of supplies and different canvas sizes. I hope to come back another day. It was a nice weekend activity.
