Richard Everett is the principal tour operator and the host for these tours through the best of the Hunter Valley wineries. While he does pick up guests from Sydney, we joined the Thursday tour from our accommodation in Pokolbin. Cuts out the transit time, but still allows the same time in the region. This is a niche tour for those that want to gain a better understanding of wine appreciation and the intricacies of winemaking. For high-volume party consumption, it is best to look elsewhere. For us (who live in another winemaking region of Mudgee NSW), this tour was one where we could feel free to ask questions and actually learn about WHY one wine was worth more than another. Only two wineries visited, but the personal approach and associated sense of exclusivity meant we did not feel short-changed.
