We started with the hummus and shishito peppers. Both were delicious. I had a Campari; he ordered the root beer mezcal cocktail, which sounded risky on paper but worked beautifully. For dinner, I chose the Asian salad with salmon added. The salmon was cooked perfectly, with crisp, well-seasoned skin that carried the dish. He ordered the pork chop, and the green beans were good enough that I helped myself more than once. The portions were generous across the board. In a business where margins are tight and plates are often shrinking, the abundance was appreciated. We finished with the banana pudding, an ending that hit exactly the right note. If Native Son is on the table, I won't need convincing to make the drive again.
