We went over the weekend and the server wasn't attentive. He said he had a big party to take care of. Our app didn't come out until our meal came out and was cold. He did remove it from our bill. Who I assume was the manager gave me a refill finally. Our actual meal was good. We waited a long time for our bill. This restaurant seems to have a management issue which is a shame because our food was decent. We stood at the door for 7 minutes before being greeted and seated. We then sat another 12 min without being waited on. We was approached by who I assume to have been an off the clock employee as she was drinking at a table full of other people and was not wearing a uniform. She asked if we had been waited on and we advised no. She sent a waiter over and by this time we had to place our drink, appetizer, and meal order all at once because we had waited so long. When we received our food, my fiancé asked for some sauce and the waiter stated he would return with it. However, 34 minutes passed and we never saw him again, with the exception of a peak of him in the kitchen/bar area on his phone. We never got refills or serviced again. While we were there, it appears an employees toddler was with her and she was running around the bar. Several plain clothes individuals were hanging out behind the bar and going in and out of the kitchen. Not sure if they were off the clock employees but it definitely wasn't professional. The appetizer was lacking. We got the nachos. The cheese was like glue and the beef was dry. The wings were hot and tasty. The club was good but could've been better if the bread to meat ratio was more even. The fries were flavored nicely and crispy. This place has potential, however our experience was not favorable. We travel a lot to try new places, but we do not see ourselves wanting to make a special trip back here. read more

Awesome food!!!! Very busy and I can see why. Although they are busy they are very prompt. Great atmosphere lots of parking but it is on a mountain side. That goes with the territory though. The bonus was the slot room which was nice but there were a lot of sloppy drunk locals in there being obnoxious and not gambling taking up space. If they would police that it would be perfect. Don't get me wrong. If you just do the restaurant you will have an A1 experience 1 !!!! read more

We stopped here for lunch while on our way south. The restaurant is a bit unassuming from the outside, but very nice. The interior is quite inviting with warm wood beam ceilings. The wait staff were great, made good recommendations and were very prompt. My husband had a fried seafood basket (a special) which was quite delicious. I got a steak and cheese sub with au jus which was epic! The fries were great as well. The music selections they were playing were also good IMHO. Food was really good. Had the spinach salad with grilled chicken. Greens were fresh and chicken was really tasty. I subbed regular grilled chicken for the blackened chicken and server was helpful with my changes. It was quite loud in the restaurant, but it was also the final 4 basketball playoffs so probably louder than normal. The salmon, asparagus, and spinach were tasty, but I think I'm going to stick with the fish and chips in the future. We asked to be seated close to the stage, but all the tables were reserved. We arrived an hour early to get decent seats to see John Richards. The tvs were so loud we couldn't hear each other. We did enjoy the jovial atmosphere. West virginia was winning. We ate here for an early dinner with a large group of families. The staff was really attentive and we had a great time. The food was excellent, we enjoyed a huge variety of appetizers, burgers, pizza, salad and steak. The portions and prices were fair, and the food was really good. I liked the local sports theme of the dining area and the bar. There are tons of TVs if you are wanting to see a game. Plenty of beers on tap, and the bat is fully stocked. Overall, this is a great place for a casual date night, sports event or group dinner. Plenty of big tables or comfy booths and hightops.we would definitely eat here again read more

We hosted a Christmas Party here with 20 guest. Everything was set and ready for us. The food came fast and everyone was pleased.

Stopped in for dinner with my friend. The place was packed but we were seated pretty quickly. We ordered margaritas cool. They came and rocks glasses we were definitely not big enough LOL. Next round we went for an upgrade but we should have upgraded to Cuervo LOL. I ordered a Philly cheese steak sandwich without peppers and onions. I ordered onion rings with a side of ranch dressing. I had to send it back because I ordered it without peppers and onions. They remade the sandwich correctly. The meat was perfectly and had a great flavor. The onion rings were okay but the server forgot the ranch and by the time she brought up they were cold. My friend had the prime rib and she said that it was awesome. Her only complaint was that she had requested horseradish and she had to ask a couple times before the server remembered to bring it over. The music was awesome. The place had a really Lively upbeat feeling. The only real complaint was the service was slow. We tried to be patient because I suspect that they are having issues finding enough staff right now. read more

We were traveling from the south to our house up north and stopped for the night in Parkersburg. We saw this restaurant, which looked a little too fancy for just a quick bite to eat, but we were pleasantly surprised! We each ordered a personal pizza, which was the special for the day, and they were huge! We could have ordered one of those personal sized pizzas for $12 and it would've been plenty. The place is very pleasant, looks brand new, with all kinds of tVs on the walls. I guess you could call it a sports restaurant, but the menu, the food, the service was wonderful. Well decided to treat my favorite older person to a nice meal at JP Henry's. This was December 26 day after Christmas. Walked in place wasn't very busy at all maybe 12 tables in the whole place and it's a big restaurant. Got seated in the most far away booth in the restaurant even though one of the people with me was obviously handicapped. (Always a good idea to seat handicap people close to the front door) After about 15 minutes with no one approaching us, the hostess said she would take the table since no one else would. (Nice touch) i'm assuming it's because we were three people in our 70s and 80s. so we ordered two dirty martinis up and one unsweet tea with lemon. When the martinis finally came after about 10 minutes, MIT, the tea was sweet with no lemon, and the martinis were watered down Olive brine. But we thought what the hell so they sipped them. Finally, she came back and we ordered person number one got the fish and chips person. Number two got the Emerson Avenue salad with steak on top and person number three ordered the crabcake appetizer with a Caesar salad. After about 40 minutes, she came and said she was sorry that everything was taking so long but it would be out in a few minutes. She then brought person number one her salad. Well, we had no silverware, so I got up to ask for silverware and ask why the food was taking so long, she then told me that they were out of the crabcakes and he would have to pick something else. So she gave me some silverware I took it back to the table. We waited and waited. Still no Caesar salad for person number two. it had been an hour and a half since we walked into the restaurant so I decided we were going to go somewhere else. I looked for my server could not find her, so we got up and was proceeding to the front door when some other server came up with white look like a house salad with three little strips of meat on top, and a very small cake or two of fish with some fries around it. Still person number three had not ordered anything and no one had come back to ask. As we were leaving, the lady server that had the food in her hand said we couldn't leave because there was a bill to pay. I said no there is no bill to pay because we did not eat anything and we are tired of waiting an hour and a half for a simple meal. So we left. Needless to say, we will never go back there ever again. Thank you. That is not the way to operate a restaurant. Also, before we left, I went to the bar and I as the person behind the bar, if I could speak to the manager and she said, there was no manager available at the moment. On Monday, 10/23/23, my Canadian friend and I went to J.P. Henry's for dinner (Parkersburg, WV), on the recommendation of our hotel (Holiday Inn & Suites). It was one of the worst experiences I've had in a very long time. There were very few people there when we arrived, so "busyness" was not a factor. We both ordered Filet Mignon--med/rare for her, with mashed potatoes and Asparagus; and med/well for me, with baked potato and Asparagus. We also ordered an appetizer of breaded, fried green beans--which my friend thought were OK, and which I thought were not (Ruby Tuesday does a much better job), as they were woefully over-done and tasted burnt. When our meals came, my filet had been BUTTERFLIED (!!!). Yes--it was cut in half sideways and not even 1/2-inch thick. We were told that this was done so as to be able to bring both meals out at the same time! It was overcooked and tough--not surprisingly. What chef doesn't know to start one first and time the other to match done-ness! As my meal was no longer a proper filet--and even though I conceded to try one tough, overdone bite--I sent it back. Or... tried to. They left the whole meal on the table. 25 minutes later, they brought the new filet, expecting me to eat the two cold sides with it. After nearly an hour attempting to get my meal, I sent it all back, and asked for the check. I should add that I have never seen such skinny Asparagus in my life. It looked like green hay. That was when we were favored with the regrettable appearance of the manager?/owner? Simply put, she was an unapologetic cow. What should have been a completely comped meal--as it had been destroyed for both of us--became one in which she nickel & dimed us for every conceivable penny. Never in my life have I been treated with such disrespect and lack of courtesy in a restaurant. I will add only that the single decent thing about our experience was our server, Kealy. She was helpful and kind. Sadly, the afore-mentioned COW had the audacity to tell this young lady that we were furious with her! So, said cow is also a liar. We had not a single negative feeling towards our server. Run. Away. (In the event that our hotel got kickbacks from recommending this place, make sure you ask any hotel about the establishments they recommend. Yes. It does indeed happen.) read more

Steak quesadilla and spinach flatbread with chicken. Holy cow we scarfed that stuff both were so delightful I couldn't pick my fav - seriously. So good! Visiting WV for Thanksgiving and we stopped here to watch WVU basketball and football. Huge place, clean, inviting, impressive beer, wine and food selection. I'm wearing Wv gold and blue attire to blend in (you know, when in Rome... As long as it's not Green Bay WI) I ordered the grilled ahi tuna tacos appetizer.they came out fairly quickly. Menu says they are lightly blackened and grilled. Served in a basket as two full tortilla tacos and a side of chickpea/black bean/corn salsa. The ahi doesn't appear to be blackened but has some seasoning, not too overwhelming. Has crunchy red cabbage slaw inside and compliments tuna well. The tuna is a tad overcooked in some pieces but overall ok. The tortillas are grilled perfectly. An impressive item for a bar menu. The boyfriend was daring and ordered raw oysters (even though he kept saying he was afraid of ordering raw oysters anywhere in WV). He said they were good...at least he ate all of them. His brother ordered an open face chicken sandwich and broccoli on the side, which looked pretty good. Friendly staff and nice place overall is why I gave 5 stars. read more

As far as bars in Parkersburg go, it's an alright place for a drink, some food, and a game, but nothing noteworthy...... I went twice. The wings are relatively good. I asked for a medium-rare steak, it came medium. Still a relatively good bar just not a place for a culinary experience. read more

Food is great!! Service is quick but too quick. If you know what you want coming in don't order it all when they ask because they can't time you courses to save their lives. You are more likely to get everything all at once than at an enjoyable pace to enjoy each course. And most definitely don't go in by yourself because they will do everything they can to rush you out. Turns are more important to the servers then the experience that could result in repeat business for them and the restaurant. read more
