Tonight they had an Italian wine tasting.. like a moscato but just hint of sweet.. they give you opportunities to try new things and have a wide variety of beer, wine , ciders, meads etc.. the staff are very welcoming and friendly if you need help finding something they will find it or see if they can order it for you. If you are looking for great selections of craft beers and wine in the Jacksonville area, this is the place to come! They have a lot to choose from. For the beers, they have a section where you can create your own six packs at a reasonable price. Also sold are six packs and bomber bottles. Wines are categorized by varietal.. section for Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec/Syrah/Petite Syrah, Sparkling, Whites. This store is very well organized/clean, a section to sit and enjoy your wines, and the staff is ready to assist if you have any questions. They do have wine tastings on Friday and Saturday. This is the absolute best beer and wine bottle shop in all of Jacksonville, NC! Great selection, great prices, everything is easy to find, and their staff are super friendly and knowledgeable. I'd been here once years ago, and being back in town for a week, of course I had to stop by again, this time with my wife. It was even better than I'd remembered. They had lots of great wines, all arranged by varietal, easy to find. Their beer selection included something for every level of beer geek and then some, including single serves for those who wanna create their own six pack. They also have beer and wine accessories and cool gift ideas as well as gourmet chocolates. Needless to say, my lady and I left with a few very nice beer and wine selections. Love love love!! I love this store!! Neil is awesome and I used to come here all the time before we moved in 2008-09 and then we moved back Military. I was excited to see this gem was still here!! Whew inside you'll find all sorts of wines , beers and even little chocolates. Not only that all sorts of barware too! If you are not from the area and you are looking for beer or even wine trust me you'll find it here! This is my go too for beers etc that are impossible in the regular stores. Ciders from different countries and that also applies to beers! Best part is that if you are having a dinner , cookout etc you can always stop by as you'll find some already cold and waiting to take home. If they don't have something all you have to do is ask and they'll see if they can get it for you. I wanted some Magners cider when we got back here and Neil made sure he ordered some and I was so excited! Not just because I am a wino, but because the staff is hilarious and friendly, the selection is amazing and it's just a cute store. I stop in here at least once a week to get a bottle of wine. For a wine snob like myself, this is the only place you should consider even getting your wine at. There is also an amazing beer section too. If you're looking for some cheap Miller Light, go to Food Lion or WalMart, this place only carries the specialty beers that you probably have never heard of but need to try. When the rare occasion that I'm in a beer mood happens, I still only come here to get one. As far as budget goes, don't let the fact that it's a fancy little wine store scare you off, they have something for you whatever your budget is. They are always doing tastings and pairings so you should stop in to try out the new beers and wines they are always bringing in. For example it was recently a Maple Honey Bacon ale. The wines available range from popular brands to select wineries. If wine is not necessarily your forte, Wines & Wares also has specialty bottled beers and ciders available for purchase by the bottle or pack. The store is clean, well labeled, organized, and has friendly staff who are able to give you pointers on pairing, suggested breathe time for a heavy Cab Franc, and specialty craft beer brews. They have a great selection of beers and wines here! I was a little disappointed however that the prices seemed a bit high. I'm sure my husband and I will return as we are always trying new beers when possible and do not really care how much they cost if we are getting what we want. Just to put the price difference in perspective I got a bomber of ballast points Wahoo wheat as we just came from San Diego and it is my favorite, we were paying 4.50 at the brewery and slightly less than that purchasing it on base in San Diego and here it cost 6.90! read more
