It's sort of Italian and sort of steak and sort of a little bit of everything. Really clean, strait forward , reasonable menu, nice ambience. It feels kind of high end but the pricing is definitely mid range. I selected the tomato basil soup as my appetizer. It came with a nice toasted crustini. It was a really good soup. It tasted fresh. It had a lot of body to it like, maybe they did the tomatoes here in the house from fresh. It was definitely tomato. The basil was kind in the background, but it was a true red sauce. It was almost tomato paste or tomato sauce flavor. I would've not complained if they given it to me over a bit of penne.. It had a really nice flavor on it not too sweet not too acidic really a very good soup. It came out in a footed coffee cup so you're getting about one cup of soup. The main course was the broiled seafood platter. It was anchored by a large piece of mahi-mahi, that was amazingly well prepared, firm and tasty. To the side of that was a wonderful crabcake, one of the best I've had anywhere and definitely the best in the Carolinas. It did not have too much breading and it had a wonderful texture with lots of good crab flavor. Drizzled across all of this were scallops and shrimp. The shrimp were a little overcooked if you asked me. The scallops were sweet and perfect and everything you would want them to be. The side that comes with this is their crab fries which essentially our beer battered french fries dusted with old bay seasoning. If you've ever had the crab fries at the Philadelphia, ballpark, this is the way they do it. For dessert, I ordered the lemon cello mascarpone cake. It comes drizzled with raspberry sauce. I had visions of lemon curd, and what I got was really good and really lemonade and good cake. But it's not a very big slice. I know about the weight staff. I don't know if they're all good, but mine was exceptional and lovely to talk with. The place was very busy. It had a nice vibe to it, it could've been in South Beach or Miami or Los Angeles, not that it was over over the top just that it was very clean and nice and well done. This is a professional restaurant not some amateur attempt. I recommend it.

Balcony rooms lower two floors, we were in the second for our suite and it was great. Large open gym. Full equipment (or at least more than many gyms) open 24 hours. There is no pool- which we didn't realize but for our trip didn't need. Room- we had a double queen suite. LARGE. Large walk in shower, open sink area. Drapes to close over if needed. Open closet, loft vibe. Two queen beds, coat rack and tv on the next room. The next room was large and open with a long desk, full coach and chair, ottomans that could be used for extra seating, another tv, and a clear fridge that (wait for it) actually was cold. Long balcony with a small table and two chairs, side water view. We slept 5 comfortably here. Great- Shower pressure, super cold fridge, extra coat rack, balcony, space, pillows, service. Supplies steamer for clothes. Quick service for extra towels and the steamer and an iron. Also, you can use the hair dryer there- great pressure for my thick hair. Needs improvement- bed wasn't super comfortable for me, although pillows and comforter were. Not awful, just woke up a little sore. Cube ottomans should really be replaced with ones you can wipe- it was obvious people used for food and spilled

The property has personality--you can feel the old railroad-era roots--as it once was originally the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad freight office. They've preserved elements like the brickwork and faded signage, while updating everything inside with a clean, modern aesthetic. The rooms are spacious, well laid out, and have that signature Aloft vibe--modern, comfortable, and functional without feeling generic. Plenty of room to spread out, which is always a win. The standout, though, is the rooftop bar, Aview. Great atmosphere, well-designed space, and the river views at sunset are hard to beat. You can even see the USS North Carolina across the river. Overall, this is one of those hotels that feels like part of the destination--not just a place to sleep. An excellent blend of history and contemporary hospitality. Would stay again.

The room was spacious and cozy, with a river view, a microwave, mini fridge, wet bar, and sink--all great conveniences. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, and there was a good workspace as well. The only other minor issue was the thermostat--it was a bit tricky to operate, and the display text was small. My only frustration (which I seem to say about every Hilton review I give) is that they don't do well allowing check-ins earlier than 2PM - 4PM. I know full well what time check-in is, but Hilton needs to get with the program with business travelers... We need to check-in when we arrive. We often have the day planned and need to get the check-in out of the way so proceed with our day. I very rarely have this problem at Marriott properties and each time I say this, someone from Hilton replies telling me what time check in is. I get it, but that doesn't make it right and it's the reason I'm primarily a Bonvoy member and will be until Hilton fixes this. OK - Enough of that. The room was ok. It was a large king bed room with a living room when you walk in and a separate bedroom in the back. Housekeeping could have been better. There were stains on the chair next to the sofa that were nasty and quite obvious. The toilet and sink area were not cleaned during room refresh. Regarding comfort, the bed was nice. The TV channels were decent, but the streaming video selection was excellent. Bathroom was in definite need of being upgraded, with stains visible around the floor tile and tub basin. Common areas in the hotel were quite nice and large too, especially for when a larger conference is in town. The selection in their daily breakfast was quite impressive, as it included a person grilling up eggs, as well as many other buffet type breakfast items. And the daily social hour is a nice touch too. Would I stay here again if needing to attend the local convention center? Probably not, there's a Marriott property right next door I'd select next time.
