    Our samples!

Pandemic gotchu down?? Wine styles to the rescue! Walked in recently to grab one item. Easy to find help and get what you need. They have a large selection of all wine and beer related inventory. Gift items, trinkets, and such also there. Wine styles offers virtual wine education classes. Nice date night option for the bored and cooped up. You can find them advertised in store or on Facebook. Classes run once or twice a month. Mr W and I decided to do something different and this fulfilled that unique experience. We did one with beer and wine. $25/person before tax. We ordered two. Since this was our first time we had no idea that we could have ordered for one. The wine samples were in mini bottles that contained maybe an ounce. The rest of our order were in cans. It was a good deal! Classes are streamed on a public live Facebook video. 1 hour long. This can be viewed later for another time. Picked up the supplies the day of the event at the store. The ease of picking up the supplies was SUPER easy. Curbside was offered and each employee was masked. I did the research to do all this myself and buy supplies on my own but found Winestyles education classes to offer the convenience of getting a wine tasting done at home without having to shop all over town and research. I recommend if looking for an alternative boredom killer. The guys that teach are ok. Educational with a side of fry gentlemen's humor. Mr W enjoyed the guys and interacted with them online during the class. If that's you're style, you may enjoy being apart of these online video happenings. Might do it again during this pandemic. We learned a lot.

We stopped in here because the operating room 6clised for a private event. All kinds of cute little sayings and wine sort of things. we thought about having a drink, but nothing I would have liked. If you like wine, you'd have been fine, wine, wine and more wine! So the gal working sent us over to beer styles, they're sister store. She was a very nice young lady. This is a bar, gift shop and it appears that they serve food.

Fantastic experience!! Always incredible service, and excellent wine selection. This is our go-to spot. We appreciate their attentiveness; they truly get to know their customers and offer selections based upon your tasting profile. A must-visit in West Des Moines!!

Ordered from their limited takeout menu. Ordered the Beerstyles Burger with sweet potato fries. Food was very good. Order done fast and staff was very friendly. I will be back on my routine trips to town.

I love winestyles. The staff is super knowledge and friendly. We were in the west Glenn area for the night and stopped for a glass of wine. Unfortunately their kitchen was closed for the night however they did bring us a bowl of crackers. The waiter helped us pick our wines. They have wines in every price point and cute gifts as well

Feel you about the food but the beer selection is surprisingly good something you would expect from la or ny upper end atmosphere but the sliders were way too over done

One wall of several for wine varieties!

The fact that this is not a #1 hotspot in the DSM area is a shame! Go here, now! To start - super lovely staff. No pressure at all to buy- the staff is available when you want them & leave you alone the rest of the time. Perfect. The wines are (surprisingly) very affordable. The store does have several more expensive varieties, but overall the average price is $15-$25. There is a great description for each label, and I found that helpful for my indecisiveness. In addition to wine, the store has ample gifts, fine cheeses, craft beers, and a great chocolate/bakery area. You can buy by the bottle or buy the glass for several varieties. I went with 3 others and we bought 2 bottles of red with some cheese and preserves for a delicious time. The store does have some "menu" items: think light sandwiches & side items to accompany the wine tastings. From what I understand, the store has a fabulous wine club and weekly tastings. Ambience is perfect- this is in the West Glen area which has a lot of understated luxury. Wine Styles fits in perfectly. Go now!

Potstickers were just okay. The dipping sauce didn't do them any favors--this felt like an easy upgrade they're missing. Imperial Egg Rolls were the biggest letdown. At $17 for three, I expected something memorable...they just weren't. Pad Thai landed squarely in "average." Grilled Honey Roast Chicken Egg Noodles was a mixed bag. The chicken itself was delicious, but the noodles were pretty bland--and oddly, they didn't really work together. Royal Fried Rice was a win. The combo of BBQ pork, sweet sausage, and shrimp came together really well. Seafood Noodle dish was unfortunately pretty bland. All in all, a few bright spots, but not a place we're rushing back to--though I'd reorder those wings without hesitation.

The service is great with the wait staff being very attentive. However they were out of Mocktail offerings which is not good when more gatherings are opting for non alcoholic flavors. They need to stock up for millennials and the genzeers who want options. The total vibe was very peaceful and it allowed you to sit and think.

We started with a Spiced Watermelon Paloma (see picture) and Summer Berry Spritzy Sangria (see picture) - both of which were very tasty and quite refreshing. For our meals, my wife ordered the Cooper's Hawk Chicken Giardiniera (see picture) and I opted for the Blackened Mahi Sandwich (see picture). We both enjoyed our meals as well as the samples that we shared with each other - so would definitely order them again and recommend them. While I was disappointed with our first visit and find the lighting quite poor inside the restaurant in the evenings, the food, drink and atmosphere are consistently very good.

We loved our first visit to this joint, let me tell you this is the best steak house I've been to across many states and with my steak house loving family who make it a point to visit all major chains and local spots. That this place is a solo, homegrown Des Moines steak house is incredible, and they are going toe to toe with the giants like Ruth Chris and Capital Grill. Our server was a cut above, pun intended, so knowledgeable and so accommodating. We ordered oysters, delicious bread, filet, t-bone, rainbow carrots and bacon creamed corn and we loved it all. No complaints, no notes. And don't think "why would anyone order carrots?" Because they transformed those colorful babies into a sweet, creamy delicacy you won't soon forget. We brought our own wine for a chunky corkage fee but my parents love wine so it was worth it to them (not me!) My dad accidentally ordered a $40 old fashioned because he picked the most expensive bourbon on the menu, so maybe ask the price before you order some of their more fancy concoctions. But like I said, bring a heavy wallet, an empty stomach and get ready to be blessed by the steakhouse gods in this gorgeous, classy environment.

It's polished and upscale, but it never feels snooty or overly formal. There's still a casualness to the place that makes it feel approachable, and I liked that right away. I was there for a work dinner, and the service was excellent. Our server, Chris, was dynamite--attentive, funny, and full of great recommendations. She gave us just the right amount of attention without hovering, which is harder to pull off than it sounds. I had the Chilean sea bass, which was cooked perfectly, tender inside with a really nice sear that gave it a crisp exterior. It was served over a creamy fondue that was just slightly lemony and complemented the fish really well. My coworker had the filet and absolutely loved it, saying it was literally one of the best steaks she's ever had. They grill their steaks over charcoal, and that char really came through not just on the filet, but also on the broccolini we ordered. The standout for me, though, was the creamed corn with crab. Big chunks of crab, sweet corn, a savory cream sauce and perfectly cooked pieces of bacon. It sounds like it should be heavy, but it really wasn't. Just incredibly flavorful, and probably my favorite thing we had all night. We finished with a dessert that had cinnamon ice cream, oats, crunchy bits and plenty of sweetness. I think it was called Jim's Oatmeal Something, which sounds vaguely like something you'd feed a horse, but it was actually delicious. Kind of like a really good cobbler without the fruit. Whatever it was called, I'd order it again. We had cocktails, and the total came to about $300 for two, so this is definitely a place for a special occasion or when you feel like splurging a little. But the food, service and atmosphere all delivered, and I'd definitely come back. I'm honestly surprised this is sitting at four stars on Yelp. Based on my experience, Prime & Providence is a five-star restaurant. If you want a really good meal in a place that feels special without making you feel like you need to wear a tuxedo and mind your manners, this is a great choice.

There was no presence, no attentiveness, and no sense that anyone was managing the room. At one point I was just sitting there waiting for the check with no sign of the bartender. For a Saturday night, it felt strangely lifeless. It's disappointing because the space has potential. But service and vibe matter just as much as the food -- and right now, both are missing.
