I don't know if the staff were just having a bad morning or maybe there were customers with bad attitudes before me, but dang. There was no one behind me and I wasn't fully sure what kind my friends would want. I wanted to peruse some. I was in and out in about 5 minutes, but the woman behind the counter seemed bothered that I was asking questions about the muffins like the flavors. The display case doesn't have them listed by the muffins. There's a flavor board behind the counter which is helpful, but it would be better if they were each labeled somewhat so you could see and pick them. I asked 2 questions overall and panicked and just picked 2 other flavors hoping they would be okay, but it wasn't as good of an experience as last month and left me a bit flustered. I'm never expecting over the top super happy, springy first thing in the morning but rolling your eyes and acting exhausted from 2 questions just seemed like a bit much for a happy and bright muffin spot.

That said, I succumbed recently as we were having friends over for dinner and although I made a dessert to serve, I thought it would be nice to have a few chocolates out in a dish as well. I bought a small box of chocolate covered caramel squares made by this local family-run Massachusetts company. Their website says the business started in 1979 and they now have the second generation of family members working there with the third generation (kids now) waiting in the wings. I do love a local family-owned and run business. The particular chocolates I bought were: "Vanilla Caramels" and I would describe what I got as very good quality chocolate covering delicious and creamy soft caramel inside. The shop is in Rowley which is north of Boston...we live south of Boston so getting there would be a haul. Fortunately our in-town local family-run market sells Winfrey's chocolates. I am glad I took a chance on these as we all found them to be fresh and really delicious...in fact, so good they were all eaten that night. I saw in another Yelp review that someone especially loves their chocolate peppermint bark...I saw that option in the store too and while I know a lot of people love the mint-chocolate combo..I am not one of them. But for the holidays, I am guessing this will be a big seller. These chocolates would make for a nice hostess gift or stocking stuffer too and I will keep that in mind going forward this holiday season.

I asked the nice lady behind the counter what are some of the most popular and she started listing some. I first decided on one square of chocolate peanut butter and after looking more, the worker suggested I should get one more. Yes, she was right! Got some cookies and cream fudge too. I'm happy to add it to my list of places to stop at whenever we visit NE. We had a nut allergy in our group, and they were very accommodating and told us about their protocol to prevent cross contamination (washing blades and pans in between batches) and packaged the items for our nut allergy friend separately. Although there isn't a 100% certainty, I'm happy to say our friend did not need an epi pen and was thrilled with his fudge!
