My dragon bowls made from the famous kilns of Jingdezhen
Wendy H.

I purchased dragon bowls from Wing On Wo, the oldest store in NY's Chinatown. They came safely wrapped. No chips or broken pieces. The bowls are beautiful. They are made from a factory in Jingdezhen, which was famous for its porcelain dating back to the imperial China days. Support a local business during this difficult time. Browse their website and pick up something for yourself!

I recommend if you're looking for real unique Chinese items to visit this place. It is totally different from any store in Chinatown. It's a throwback to family-owned authentic gift shops with uniquely Chinese and not mass produced items. Have I said how much I like this gift shop? It's in a category all its own, with one-of-a-kind pieces both old and new. Everyone behind the counter is always super friendly and wanting to talk about the pieces, about their history and the neighborhood's. Whenever I'm here there's always something lovely that catches my eye. In the past i got adorable little Buddha's, lovely sake cups, and gorgeous plates with painted designs. This place is just a real gem.

This little family shop has so much rich history and feels cozy. The entire family (husband, wife, and grandma) are on the shop floor and eager to speak to guests. It reminds me of my own family and my mom's shop. The family is super helpful in helping you find a gift that's right for you and they're very knowledgeable about their store's inventory. The selection of earrings is quite extraordinary -- there are beautiful ceramic and porcelain earrings with all types of traditional East Asian designs. I bought three because I couldn't decide which ones I wanted. I also bought a much needed soup spoon. Everything is reasonable priced and of good quality. The storekeeper even realized that she messed up on ringing me up and refunded me in cash. They are the sweetest and I will be going back to talk to them again!

Lanterns from Wing On Wo.

Anyone who's ever been on one of my (in)famous walking tours knows that my favorite shop in all of NYC is Wing On Wo & Co. I stumbled across it six years ago and stepping inside instantly brought me back to my childhood, evoking vivid memories of my grandmother and her love of all things Chinese -- from lacquered furniture, to Ming trees, to tiny porcelain figurines of Confucius and Sun Tzu. In the years since, I've gotten familiar one of the wonderful owners, Gary, and I've bought everything from the painted lanterns that hang in our living room to the tiny lucky cat figurine I keep in my bag. I've seen the area gentrify even as Wing On Wo's storefront and beautiful window displays have remained relatively unchanged for more than a century, like a magical porthole that transports you back in time and memory. It is a place that is singular in all of New York. If it ever goes, it'll take a significant chunk of my heart with it.

This store is much more than a simple porcelain shop. It's the oldest running shop in Manhattan Chinatown and the family who is running it is absolutely the most warm and loving people there. They carry a fantastic selection of porcelain goods along with fun little trinkets, teas, decor pieces, and much more. Every time Im in the neighborhood I make it a thing to stop by to see what is new, catch up with the family, and to just take it all in. I've gotten a huge variety of gifts from traditional hard to find pieces to contemporary designs from asian designers. There is a lot of love in this place. They also carry a selection of their pieces on their website too! These are the places that make Manhattan Chinatown special. It's the love and community.

As gentrification continues to push out tradition in Chinatown, Wing on Wo & Co remains one of the hidden treasures in the neighborhood. W.O.W. is a long-running, family-own business that has been able to withstand the many of the economic peaks and troughs over the years that hit Chinatown, including 9/11, which has led to a lot of family businesses closing their doors. Having the distinction of being the oldest store in Chinatown dating back to the 1920's, W.O.W. surely qualifies as a destination for visit whether you are a resident of the neighborhood or a visitor from out-of-town. W.O.W has an amazing collection of porcelain antiques that would appeal to anyone who loves and collects heirlooms or period pieces. From the beautifully crafted china to the feng-shui figurines, the selection is exhaustive. The staff is extremely friendly and fluent-English speakers. They are always very helpful in helping visitors pick out a souvenir or a period piece that is perfect for their homes. W.O.W is a cultural mainstay in the Chinatown community, and let's hope it stays that way for many years to come!

I learn of this place from a YouTube video on the family's history. Walked in today and such a treat! Saw many of the patterns I grew up with that brought back nostalgia. Also, there are also new modern handcrafted patterns that can blend into the modern aesthetics. You can really tell the quality of these porcelain items. I brought the cutest tiny tea pot set that were hand painted from China. Spoke to the dad of the store. He is so wonderful and super friendly. It's a really nice family store like you are visiting relatives. Must go in NYC chinatown.

I definitely recommend stopping by this shop for the "real" Chinatown. It's not just a tourist stop which is great.

This is going to be a long review and apologies for this…read more This man so called Christopher K should be behind bars. (HE IS A CONMEN) I have amazing Chinese antiques, some of which are from the 11th.C Ming dynasty and and older, porcelain & clay pottery. I know what I have and the value they hold. He tried telling me that these items aren't real. He started to twist the narrative around, and pretty much BS me from the start! I wasn't having it.. I also showed him a pair of French lithographs from 17thC. Again he said these were fake, but good copies. What does that mean!! lol When I went to show him the certificate of authenticity of most of my items, he said..... Ready? ANYONE CAN FAKE COPIES OF AUTHENTICITY. My brain blew up with great anger, you could see smoke coming out of my ears. Mind you!!! The lithographs certificates were appraised in 1972 from a well respected company in NYC, ( no longer there) and!!! The paper was on the yellow side, showing age, and he still said they were fake. I forgot to mention this, before I showed him proof of authenticity he wanted to buy everything I showed him for a few hundred dollars. What the heck! Is this guy for real! He doesn't even know anything about antiques, rugs, furniture Are you kidding me!! That when I showed proof. He continued to try and tell me BS. I wasn't haven it!!! I hope you folks don't get caught up with this conmen. Good luck! And be wise.
