I saw this store mentioned on instagram regarding the holiday ornaments. They had a Karl Lagerfeld ornament which is perfect for a friend of mine. Also looked for a horseshoe crab ornament the Fred Schneider of the B52s purchased at a store in Bayport NY that would be perfect for my West Coast sibling. Sure enough there it was. Very eclectic store with a bit of everything. Hard to go and not find what you didn't know what you were looking for. Example - on Passover I realized my grandson had absconded with my plastic lamb statue, which as a vegetarian I would use instead of a lamb bone. I went to this store and voila! They had an adorable sweet lamb 3 inches high garlanded with flowers that fit on my plate! The staff is also extremely helpful. read more

I've come here once before with a friend of mine last year, and a wonderful lady was selling us on everything! She was sweet, kind, and interested in the history/quality of the antiques. However, this time, my friends and I were walking down the street in between classes, and were excited to revisit this store. The worker stopped us at the door, instructing us to only be let in one at a time (which they did not do last time), and before the rest of us could even step foot inside, he called us "too giddy" and rudely turned us away saying that we should be in school. What is this profiling?Please fire him. Obviously not the type of worker that knows how to influence the youth or grow a community. I came to this store with my friends looking for apartment decorations. We were met by an older man who asked us to enter one at a time, letting only our white friend in before turning me and the rest of my poc friends away. He told us we were "too giddy" and that we "needed to be in school." I honestly felt extremely profiled and was incredibly disappointed in this kind of service. Very artsy and most are hand made with some mass produced items sprinkled throughout but also good quality can be found. I love going here every Christmas season and I always end up finding something I just can't live without! Try to go early before the crowd arrives because the shop is tiny and packed to the brim with old and new goodies that you might miss once it gets busy. You may at first think it's a bit overpriced but you have to remember that many of these pieces are one of a kind and not readily available anywhere else. My husband and I stumbled upon this little store during our honeymoon during the holiday's in 2008. It was such a pleasant, magical experience. The shop was so charmingly decorated and filled with so many amazing little trinkets. My husband and I were charmed, absolutely charmed. The owner and his wife were also extremely nice and added to the cozy ambiance of the store. We snagged a couple of unique ornaments that night for a great price. We're returning to the city in a few weeks and this is a must stop for us. It was a shame that the first time we found it, it was our last night in the city. Not exactly an antique shop: they sell a lot of beautiful things made recently in China, such as all the victorian inspired Xmas glass ornaments, and 99% of the Christmas stuff ( The day I visited the store was my B'day, so I treated myself and purchased a $12 glass ornament shaped like a hen). There are always beautiful, unusual gifts abundantly displayed in this whimsical store. The owner, Steve, has wonderful taste and it shows in his offerings. I don't necessarily agree with some of the other reviews that consider it to be all that overpriced~ If you're comparison shopping for ornaments, I'd say that the prices here are very competitive (Gracious Home charges just as much and the selection is not even close). There are also plenty of cute, eclectic gifts you can buy for the bargain conscious. (Where else can you get a scotch tape dispenser in the form of a frog for $15.50? ;-). I have been a happy customer for many years, visiting almost every year when I am in NYC. My last visit raised the bar on customer service. When a small item was left out of my bag, Mr Mohr, who heard my friend and me discussing where we were going to dinner, actually walked the several blocks to the restaurant to give me my purchase. I feel most stores, at the most, would have called me and asked me to return to the store to pick up the item, so I really appreciated Mr. Mohr taking the extra step! He has a wonderful, eclectic inventory with something at every price point and I find treasures at every visit. There are interesting antique dishes and small items, antique jewelry, and always fun seasonal items. read more
