Teriyaki chicken 10 Wings and Fresh Cut Fries
    Caroline H.

This place is a walk up, pick up and leave spot. No where to sit so don't expect it. I like giving back to local places. This is one of the spots I like to go when I have time. It usually takes at least 30 minutes for your food to be prepared- heads up. You definitely need to call the order in ahead of time. Sometimes you may not be able to get them on the phone because they stay so busy. You may continuously get the busy signal like I did today. I wrote them on Facebook messenger and they apologized and said that the best bet was to order online. So we did and food was ready when they said. Funny thing is when we walked in, no one was on the phone ‍. I ordered the 10 wing meal that comes with a side and a drink. I get the teriyaki which is my favorite flavor they have. Kind of gives me that Asian zing kind of flavor and I love it on chicken. That's one of the main reasons I go there because not to many people have that flavor. So good! The fries are good too. If you look at my pic, it shows how thick they are. They seem fresh and definitely like no other restaurant I've been to. I've had the sweet potato fries before as well and they are just as thick and delicious. Today, my wings were overcooked. Parts of them were hard and hard to get off the bone. I still ate them because the flavor of teriyaki is so good. I will continue to go back and support because I've been there many times and the chicken was not like that. Probably someone new in the kitchen.

My food was fresh, hot and crispy! The young lady was super nice although I did asked for ranch and received blue cheese (yuck) I am still rating this establishment 5 stars.

I've been craving really good wings lately. I always prefer wings made at a restaurant where that's their focus and it's not necessarily a chain. Wing Station is it. I ordered the Lemon Pepper, as the young lady who took my order said Lemon Pepper and Garlic Parmesan are the most popular flavors. I ordered the 10 (bone in) w/ potatoe salad, carrots and celery sticks with ranch dressing. Split flavors isn't an option with an order of 10; otherwise, have fun choosing more than one flavor to complete your order. This is not an eat-in spot. Strictly a counter for ordering and a small bench style seat to accommodate maybe two or three waiting customers. There was a constant flow of customers in the middle of the week and day. The young lady said hello as I entered the door (and while waiting on another customer), she made good eye contact, and was very friendly and pleasant - all pluses. She told me it'll take 25 minutes for my order. I wasn't expecting this lengthy time, but it's a plus since the wings are made to order. My order was ready in about 20 minutes. She saw me waiting in my car and signaled me my order was ready - that was really nice of her. They accept all major credit cards, including AmEx. Tipping accepted via a tip jar. I had to wait nearly two hours before I had time to eat my wings. I was concerned if they'd taste fresh, good, whatever after that long of sitting. They looked dry when I opened the to-go container...but boy....these wings were not even close to being dry, even after two hours of sitting in my car. The meat was VERY moist, perfectly cooked, and the ultimate good wing...to me....is the crunchiness and not being greasy. The dryness you see is that pure, good ol' crunch. No grease anywhere - not even on the bottom of the container. And...these wings had meat, plenty of meat, on them. Now...the lemon pepper didn't really taste like lemon pepper to me. But the wings still had a nice flavor to them. This is the only downside. The ranch dressing was different and good. It didn't taste like your typical ranch. It was tangy, light, and quite delicious. The vegetables were fresh looking. The potatoe salad was also different in taste. I think it had bacon bits in it..I'm not sure. But it was good and plentiful for an included side item. I will definitely return for these great tasting wings. I hope for consistency in the taste of the wings and the customer service.

A very unassuming place. Carry-out only.

It was by default, really. My friends and I were kicking it on a Saturday night, in the fall of 2013. We were hungry and debating on what we were going to have for dinner. *Google search: Chicken Wings* Wing Station. Sounds like a winner. Call it in. 100 wings. Several different flavors. When we arrived, the place looked like an absolute dump, sitting right next to a shady-looking liquor store. Walked in - it was exactly that. A dump. Not dirty. Just "basic." Pay money. Get wings. Go home. Ho. Lee. Cow. Unreal isn't the word. These wings changed our lives forever. We got a mixture of Mild, Garlic Parmesan, Jamaican Jerk, Lemon Pepper, Hot BBQ, and Sweet Chili. All were dope, honestly. Faves being the garlic parmesan and lemon pepper. And the other dude ain't lying. These wings are humongous. We've since been back. On several occasions. Result is always the same. Only now getting around to writing this review. But this place is an incredible secret. I don't know anyone else that has been here. Errbody needs to start making an effort to get here, so it stays open for as long as possible.

I was craving hot wings, so I went to Wing Station and lucky me they were having their wing special Monday. Wings are 75 cent a piece. For every 5 wings that you order you can pick a different sauce. I ordered 5 medium hot, 5 honey mustard, and fries. I like my wings wet and the honey mustard wings were very wet and the medium didn't have a much sauce as the honey mustard. The wings were very good. The fries were good I just wish they were seasoned a little more. When Wing Station first opened the fries were so good and seasoned, they're not the same now. Now don't get me wrong they are still good. I did a walk-in order so it took about 20 minutes, but you can call your order in, so you don't have to wait. There's no place to sit and eat, so all orders are to go. I can't wait to go back and try more favors.

Wings. Formerly the discarded and unloved portion in the family pack (or the finish to Paul McCartney and ... ), has over the course of the last couple decades become a mainstay at parties of all sorts and form, holding court with pizza and nachos as the triumvirate of junk food lords. What was once simply fried or buffaloed, is now a meat of many flavors. You can find wings of various heat, and then from sweet to salty. Formerly exclusive at pizza shops and BW3's, wings can now be found in as simple an arena as Rally's. But who gets wings at a Rally's? Now, while Dixie Highway lacks a certain amount of culinary variety, what it does seem to have is a plethora of wing places. And, I'm sure each place has its own merit, however, the best may be right here at little Wing Station. And by station it is not much more than a space to wait for your carry-out or pick-up, but they're not trying to be a BW3s, they just want to be the place for people to go for their wings, you take the party with you with your order. And, oh, what a party that would be, as these wings are good. Big, meaty and messy, not those pesky little wings you see at many places now, you know the ones which make you wonder when they switched chickens for pigeons, these are wings from Chicken-o-saurus. Plus 12 different flavors (be warned, when they say "Hot", they really mean it) which you can order in sets of 10, a flavor to suit most anyone. Except for that one guy that doesn't like wings. He can eat some celery. Or the sweet potato fries (those are good, too.) - 30 - Oh, one more thing, you might want to stop by the Walgreens or a Krogers and pick up some wet wipes, you're gonna need 'em.

The dining area is small and no frills, so I'd probably use the drive-thru or take it to-go next time. We ordered the 4 whole spicy wings meal with two sides. I was surprised they include the entire wing, including the tip. Each wing comes with the drum, flat, and tip. The wing tip is actually my favorite part, and it's rare to find restaurants that leave it on. The chicken was incredibly crispy without being greasy, and the spicy seasoning had just the right amount of heat. I want that recipe! For our sides, we doubled up on the potato wedges, and they absolutely lived up to the hype. They seem like they're coated in the same seasoned batter as the chicken, giving them an extra crispy crunch on the outside. Pro tip: Order the purple drink! It has a grape flavor with a fruity twist, and it pairs perfectly with the spicy chicken. Overall, Chicken King is worth a stop if you're in Louisville. Between the huge portions and affordable prices, it's easy to see why it's been a longtime favorite among locals.

Crunchy breading, juicy and tender inside. They were not spicey or dripping in any sauce, just regular breaded and I thought "I am going to have to go to this place soon" After doing some research I found that they have drive thru only for dinner hours. So I made my trip down Broadway to Chicken King and could not miss the big yellow sign nor the already 7 cars in the drive thru. Since this chicken has a otremendous fan base, I considered myself lucky to be #8 in line as others pulled behind me. The menu is packed full of items, so my first tip is to look up the menu online before you go...less pressure once you arrive...lol I ordered the 8 PC box (regular) for my husband, 3 PC tenders (that comes with 3 potato wedges) for myself and a medium peach cobbler to share. I was very disappointed that the tenders were not fresh nor freshly breaded. They were pressed and glued white meat formed into a tender. I actually only ate one, shared one with my dog and threw the last one away. The potato wedges were the star. I should have ordered more of those. My husband, who LOVES fried chicken was not impressed. He said KFC and Golden Corral has better. The peach cobbler was average. So, I am sorry to summarize our experience as not having a reason to return.

But we walked away disappointed…read morebecause of a major service lapse, curious food seasonings and discrepancies between menu descriptions and actual dishes. We arrived mid-afternoon on a Friday. We had a choice between sitting inside or being seated at a picnic table on the covered deck. We were assigned a high-top table in the dining area past the bar, where a few guys were watching a soccer match. The brine-soaked fried chicken is Eagle's specialty, so we ordered it. I thought the chicken was good,. So per the menu for the three-piece fried chicken meal, you can only order either all white meat or all dark meat. Interestingly, the two people at our table that ordered white meat still got a drumstick with their meat. The last I checked, drumsticks were considered dark meat. For an appetizer, we ordered the hush puppies. They had a nice crunchy texture but were very spicy hot. We also ordered the spoonbread. This was my favorite dish of the day. It was served warm, had a great texture and a light maple flavor. With our meals, we could get two sides. We requested the collard greens, green beans, fries, grits and mac & cheese. Only the mac & cheese was good. The collard greens were way salty and the green beans had odd and unexpected seasonings. Our dining companion was put out, and understandably so, that the menu said the grits came with white cheddar cheese. But instead, though the grits maybe had cheese, they were also loaded with loads of diced jalapeno. They were so over the top spicy, none of us could eat the grits. The fries were strongly seasoned with oregano. WTF? Our entrees came with biscuits. The biscuits were tasty, but unfortunately, because they contained too much shortening, fell apart when buttering them. And that leads up to the service lapse. After we received our check, our server completely disappeared. We waited a half hour for her to re-appear, gave up and asked another server to cash us out. He disappeared and we waited some more. Finally the red-headed server re-appeared and breezily explained she had been out on the deck the whole time. No apology or anything.
