We came here after a visit to Speed Art Museum based on a recommendation from our Louisville friend to try Burger Boy's seasoned fries. Burger Boy is open 24/7. We were greeted by a friendly and efficient server. I ordered the double quarter pounder. I got mine sans lettuce and pickle. The default cheese on the burger was American but I was able to get mine with Provolone. You can also get Pepper Jack or Swiss. My burger was excellent, made with quality meat. The seasoned fries were very good with a definite note of garlic. The size of the fries order is plenty petite though. Shake flavors are limited to chocolate, strawberry and vanilla. I ordered a chocolate shake and it was pleasantly thick and tasty. We also got some oatmeal raisin and chocolate chip cookies to take home. They were of the most and chewy varietal (I prefer crispy) but were still good. Burger Boy has a digital station that allows you to select music to be played in the restaurant. I do need to point out that the price for a single patty burger was well over $10 so prices are high. But sure, if I was in the neighborhood and was craving a burger, I'd come back. read more

Shout out to the entire night crew team. Slammed with orders, line out the door and they held their composure and cranked it out. They moved like a well oiled machine and yes the food takes a little bit longer but for being as busy as they were and only waiting 20mins we were all so happy with our choice. After waiting 20 minutes and a couple ahead of me before I can order, the cashier announces that they're aren't taking anymore orders and that they'll be cleaning up and service will start again when third shift shows up. After another 15 minutes, they begin taking orders again....i ordered the old Louisville burger with chili cheese for fries. $25! No drink by the way. Tipped 5 to make it an even $30. You know the ones: bright lights, sad patties, and a side of "why did I do this to myself?" Google Maps saves the day again like a total legend. Types in "real food near me" and boom! Burger Boy Diner in Louisville pops up. Oh boy. OH BOY. This place did NOT disappoint Walk in and the staff are immediately nice -- like, actually friendly, not the fake "how are you today" robot voice. Felt like I'd known them for years. Then the food hits the table and I'm legit emotional. Crispy bacon that snaps when you bite it, perfect eggs, and those hash browns -- crispy golden edges, fluffy inside, absolute perfection. Real breakfast done right, man. The kind your mum would make on a lazy morning, but way better because someone else cooked it and you didn't have to wash a single dish. And it came out stupid fast. I swear I sat down, blinked twice, and my plate was staring at me like "sup bro, eat me." This spot is such a hidden gem it should be in witness protection. Locals were packed in there like it was the coolest underground club in town everyone chatting, laughing, smashing plates of breakfast. I felt like the new kid who accidentally found the best table in the cafeteria. They were out of literally everything. Drinks, fries, and literally even change. The waitress literally did not have a clue in the world what she was doing and I had no real intention of tipping her more than $2 on top of my $15 check. Made a point to go by this diner after coming across it in a Yelp search and support of local. My first impression was "CLEAN" and that it might be a neighborhood cliche. Not many employees are needed for this timeless diner but they were both very welcoming. Just a few customers at 8:00 a.m. on a Friday. Menus are at the register which tells me you might order/pay there all at once. My order was "to-go". BYO wrap of sausage, eggs, and American cheese in a slightly grilled white tortilla. Since the cooking is done in plain view, I watched the sausage and eggs cooked to order and there was no skimping on the cheese. They have cinnamon rolls, cookies, and cakes on display that looked so delicious I had to buy a couple of the cinnamon rolls as well. The visit turned out to be a good one and won't be the last. One thing my fans have learned about the Fat Man is that he loves a good burger. They are one of my favorite things in this world. So, we stopped at Burger Boy while out and about in Louisville, KY. Burger Boy is a low-key joint open 24/7 for burgers, deli sandwiches & classic American breakfast fare. I tried the Old Louisville Burger, made with a ¼ burger, bacon, over easy egg, and provolone. The burger was cooked perfectly, with crispy edges and a juicy interior. It could have used a touch more seasoning, but it was tasty. While out of the bag, the bun was fresh, and the bun-to-burger ratio was good. The veggies were fresh and crispy, the egg yolk was perfectly runny, and the bacon was crispy and chewy. The cheese was melted over the burger and offered a salty and very subtle sweetness to the bite, cutting through the creamy egg yolk and saltiness of the bacon. I also ordered the Chili Cheese Fries. This dish comes with cheddar cheese and house-made chili and is served over seasoned fries. The fries were cooked well, and the seasoning added to the flavor of the chili. It was full of meat, tomatoes, and beans. Their chili was thick with excellent taste, a touch of sweetness, and a good peppery heat finish. The cheddar cheese was spot-on gooey and added a great saltiness to each bite. The fries were adequately coated in both cheese and chili. My wife went with the ¼ burger fully dressed in cheese and seasoned fries. Again, the seasoned fries were cooked to a crunchy outside with a soft inside, and the seasoning tasted like a BBQ-type seasoning, sweet with a bit of heat on the end. The burger is cooked perfectly with crispy edges while still being juicy. The veggies are fresh and crunchy, and the mayo helps cut through everything while giving some needed creaminess to each bite. Burger Boy has an extensive menu that includes breakfast and late-night eats. The servers were lovely, and the food came up fast. Burger Boy has been on my list of places to try for a while and I finally got the opportunity over the weekend. There is street parking and we were able to find parking pretty easily. Once inside, we placed our order at the counter and then found a place in the back to sit. Not sure if they were short staffed or not but the floor was slick from grease and most of the tables had empty baskets/glasses on them. We found a table in the back that was luckily empty. There wasn't any signage as well to notate that the floor may be slick. Onto the food: I ordered the Burger Boy combo with cheese fries and a side of ranch. The burger was good and well seasoned. I wasn't a fan of the sauce but that was just a personal preference. My fries didn't have the cheese so that was a bit of a bummer. I needed a late night bite since I slept all day Sunday and thank goodness Burger Boy is open 24/7 and has delivery! I ordered the burger boy special which is a doubly patty burger with fries and a drink. The burger is cooked to order and arrived still hot! Normally when I go to the restaurant it's a little intimidating with the person at the grill having orders yelled at them from the person at the cash register but the service is always very quick. They even have vegan options like a beyond burger! After ordering at the counter you can get your food to go or eat indoors or at one of their outdoor picnic tables. The wait time for your food can vary depending on how busy they are. There is usually only one person on the grill and another on register. The longest I've waited is about 25 minutes, the shortest is 5. Plan accordingly and give yourself enough time to wait incase they are in a lunch rush. I've heard about it over the years but never really made my way there until this past Christmas Day (I had to work and didn't feel like cooking after I got off) to my surprise they were open all day Christmas. I didn't review then because it was my first time being there. It was very busy Christmas and did wait awhile. This visit was after my Yelp Elite week perk event. I wasn't ready to eat my sweets and I remembered this place and decided to come here. It wasn't very crowded and I didn't have to wait long to be waited on. The employee behind the counter seemed frustrated but not towards me. My order was taken and I did wait a few minutes for my food. When my name is called out I go to the counter to get my food, they don't have table service here so everything is done at the counter. I got everything but my drink and the employee behind the counter said she'd get it shortly but continued to take other customers orders finally after waiting a few one of the cooks asks me if something is wrong and I tell him I'm just waiting for my coke, he gets it for me no problem. She also had another table waiting for their drinks as well but takes it to their table. Now to the food. The menu states all burgers are cooked to medium. I prefer well done and I actually didn't know this from the previous visit until I looked at their to go menu. The burger was good the first time so it being cooked medium didn't bother me. This visit I got the Old Louisville Burger w/o Lettuce, Onion and tomato. I picked off the pickles and ate them. There was only one slice of bacon on the burger which was a kicker for me because most places put more than one piece of bacon on their burgers. The bacon was cooked perfectly so there's that. I have no complaints about the seasoned fries they were delicious. I give 3 stars for a few reasons. Employee who took my order seemed frustrated about something even though I know it wasn't directed towards me while taking my order. There was also where I was having to wait for my drink but continued to take orders. The dining room in the front is small but kinda cozy in a way. They have a dining area in the back but it looked closed off. You maybe waiting beings every thing is made fresh and I do like fresh food. I give props to the cooks especially the older man who came out and asked everyone dining in if our food was good and of course it was. I do plan on coming back I just don't know when. Maybe I caught this employee on a bad day and hopefully things got better for her. But, like their Motto says "If you're awake, we're open". I have so many memories at this diner! This restaurant doesn't need all the fancy bells and whistles to be able to provide good quality food at a great price. Any cake that they offer in the little glass display is worth trying. From their breakfast menu to their lunch and even dinner this is a diamond in the rough in old Louisville. Their staff is always fun and unique and there isn't any stigma of who dines there every walk of life comes here and all are greeted equally the same and welcomed with open arms. In the spirit of Louisville's 2023 Burger Week, a week when 25+ restaurants offer $7 burgers, we found ourselves browsing for places we hadn't tried yet. Burger Boy Diner is on South Brook St. in the Old Louisville area. Burger Boy is a 24/7 diner and a burger on a regular night is only $8. Despite being what might be considered less gourmet, this option was appealing because they included fries, allowed takeout, we had never been, and it was within a couple miles from home. My husband stopped in to place an order and there was a 45 minute wait. We're close, so this wasn't an issue for us. He placed the order and came home to wait on it. They were upfront about the wait and service was friendly. We order two of the following- BURGER WEEK QUARTER POUNDER Fresh 80/20 Angus beef, with melted American Cheese, Special Sauce and fully dressed! On a toasted bun, and served with a small order of our Famous Seasoned Fries! This burger was your all-American burger. The toppings were stacked. The tomato was fresh and thick and the pickles were plentiful. The fries were phenomenal and the well-seasoned. I actually couldn't figure out if the special sauce on the burger had spice, or if it was lingering on my tongue from the fries. Either way, the combination hit the spot. This diner is open all-night. The accessibility alone makes it desirable. It's as cheap as fast-food, but far less disappointing.
