Decent hotel off I5 in the small town of Mt. Vernon, WA. Located near shopping and food, the room was clean and lots of space, and they had breakfast. Easy to check in & out. Only odd thing was a motorhome in the back with an extension cord hooked to the building..

    Not our blood

The building was painted and the parking lot had parking spots. Workers are not super friendly but not necessarily mean or rude. Everything felt dirty, from the lobby to the room. The elevator was tiny and made scary noises. There was trim laying in the hallway that was tripped on. I am honestly not sure anything was washed or cleaned in this room. Unfortunately we couldn't get our money back to go somewhere else. When I asked the front desk to at least change the bedding with blood in it while we were gone for a few hours and give us a 3rd towel, it did not happen. When we got back I had to take the bedding to the front desk. Didn't even get an apology. Breakfast had some edible items.

Just a mark on the bed spread

Yes, it's lipstick on a pig. Buy the rates are very reasonable as it's close to shopping, comfortable bed and a clean bathroom. The service is always great here.

    Tiny tissues

Our beds were clean. The AC wasn't loud. The room was fine. However be sure to bring your Leatherman in case you have to tighten a screw in the bathroom faucet. Also chintzy with tissue. But everything else you read is true. Dirty and unkempt hallways and lobby. I'm really surprised that Wyndham doesn't have more requirements for the standards of hotels that bear their name.

Ahh, Whispering Firs. A tale of two sides, if there ever was one. My wife and I stayed here…read morerecently and had some very good experiences and thoughts...but also had some very negative things as well. We had originally booked two nights, but because of the negatives we ended up staying just the first night and checked-out early. Here's the tale of the tape: The Good: - Linda and Vic (the innkeepers) are very nice. Extremely friendly and easy to talk to, Linda made us feel at home straightaway and was great company and conversation during breakfast. - Speaking of, the food was really good. We had blueberry cream cheese pancakes, bacon, and scrambled eggs for breakfast. Along side juice, fruit, and coffee/tea. Linda was also very accommodating toward dietary concerns too. - The property and view is gorgeous! Located up on a mountain area, Whispering Firs overlooks the valley and you can even see the Sound and Whidbey Island. - The house itself is warm, comfortable, and inviting. There's a beautiful deck on the backside that it multi-tiered and has a walking path around little ponds. This would be great for entertaining and lounging. The Bad: - To get there, you have to drive up a half-mile gravel road that is full of potholes and bumps. It's narrow and not something that a regular car can navigate quickly. Wish we had a 4x4 vehicle. - The bed in our room (the North Suite) was way too high. It sounds weird to say that, but at roughly 3 feet high, it was a struggle for my 8 month pregnant wife to literally climb in and out of. - There were no curtains on the windows...just blinds that didn't block out all of the light and sight lines. So, there was a big lack of privacy seeing as the windows looked out onto the deck. - This room is located right next to the breakfast room, so it is extremely loud in the mornings. Breakfast is normally served at 8:30, but our morning had a group that wanted to eat at 7:00. That meant at 6:30 things got rolling on the other side of the wall and we heard it all. Neither Good nor Bad, Just Depends on You Point of View: - There is a large collection of stuffed animals (the taxidermy type) throughout the house and bedrooms. A hunter's paradise...so may not be up your alley. All in all, this could be a lovely place to stay; but it just didn't suite us and fit our needs. For someone else, it might be perfect. In this review, I'm simply wanting you to be better informed that I was. Hope it helps.

The bed was comfortable and there was also a chaise with side table and a desk for me to work at. The shower was great with an adjustable head and very good water pressure. There was a mini fridge and microwave. This location also offers a pool and spa area which was clean and quiet. They had omelets, bacon and french toast on offer at our complimentary breakfast and free coffee and fruit available throughout the day. Also, very importantly for me, this location is dog friendly. They charge and additional $35 per night for dogs, which is not unreasonable and they have a small grassy area outside near the pool where you can take your dog to potty. I have included lots of photos because I know that's the first thing I look at when choosing a hotel but I was very happy and rested as I left here.

They have tons of parking, which really helped as we were traveling with a moving truck. The room was comfy and clean. Looking for a place to stay as my husband, our little girl dog and I are traveling from Tumwater,…read moreWa to Vancouver, Canada, this seemed like a good stop for us as my husband didn't want to make the full drive and I really dislike arriving at a hotel at 10 pm or later. So I found this Candlewood Suites Burlington on my hotels.com app and decided to book a night to stay here. This hotel was surprisingly very affordable for a Saturday evening with only being $129 (prior to tax) and offers quite a spacious room with a king size bed. The pet fee was only $20 and we were very happy to have found out that they offer complementary dryer and washer for use (you just have to use your own detergent and dryer sheets). This was very helpful, as we ended up doing a load in the washer and then divided our load into 2 dryers (since no one was using them and it is faster to dry jeans this way from your other clothes). There are 3 washers to use and 4 dryers available. We checked in around 6:15 pm by a friendly employee. She gave us our keys and then we unloaded our car (they have luggage dollies at the front) and headed to our room, which was on the first floor. We had a kitchen and a full size fridge and microwave in our room, a fairly good size bathroom with plenty of counter space (I always dislike when bathrooms have so little counter space), Dove brand bath products, Dove soap bar, TV and desk that I was able to set up my laptop. The WiFi was fast and very happy that it never dropped while I was taking a test to earn a certification in my profession (I only had one attempt and so I was little nervous wondering if I would get dropped but I never did. Oh and I did pass for anyone that is wondering). Although there is no breakfast provided, you do have a kitchen in your room that you can use, which we did. So that wasn't a problem for us. Now one thing I do want to mention is that the walls between rooms are thin, as I heard neighbors around us. Also there is a train that seems to run at all hours of the day and evening, as I heard them throughout the evening. I am a pretty light sleeper so I didn't sleep that well but my husband (who is a heaver sleeper) was just fine. I have stayed at a bed and breakfast in Texas where there was a train nearby and that train was incredibly loud. This train wasn't nearly as loud but do want to mention this for those that may find this to be a problem. Because of the train and the thin walls, I am a bit indifferent and not sure if I would stay here again. But to us, there does seem to be more pros than cons. Overall, I would still rate this hotel 4 stars.

The room was moderately comfortable and we appreciated having a laundry facility. On the downside, there were two washing machines but one wasn't working. We wish the little convenient shop near the lobby was better stocked with some fresh food items. The pet area is not well monitored and several guests did not pick up after their pet. Lastly the parking spots are too narrow.

There were hairs in the "clean" shower that did not belong to us. Next, there were several missing face plates to plug sockets (I have a curious one year old). Moving on, there was a loose nail under the ac unit on the floor. Next, we had a spider on the pillows. Lastly, and my major concern is my 1 year old was eaten alive while sleeping. We are pretty sure it was bed bugs. We have never had bed bugs before but... he had bites in the patterning log bed bugs. He only had bites skin that was showing while sleeping aka not covered in Jammie's. We didn't stay anywhere before this hotel so we know it came from this hotel. They refused it. Said there was no bugs. Of course we showed them my 1 year olds face and they denied it. We also have pictures. Wouldn't give us our money back for our second night. We left. Had to take all our clothes to the laundromat hoping to get rid of them and not carry them elsewhere. This place is dirty, gross, dishonest and has bugs. Don't stay there. Room 119 has bugs. Wish I could give 0 stars.

I booked here because it was the cheapest…read moreplace in Mount Vernon but save the hassle and spend a little more and go somewhere else. Upon check in, we were told we had to provide a $150 CASH deposit to cover the cleaning fee which we would get back during check out after they examined our room. They did have a small plaque on the counter in the office that explained this extra charge but this was not shown through booking.com so it came as a surprise to me. So what do you do if you don't happened to have $150 in cash? You have to go to the walmart across the street and use the ATM. So be prepared to have that extra money if you plan on staying here. The receptionist who checked us in also informed us the check in/check out office is closed between 11pm and 7am. I immediately told her this was going to be a problem because we were planning on checking out around 5:15am in order to get to a hike in the north cascades early. She let us know that since the manager lives on site, she would leave a note explaining our situation and that our early check out wouldn't be an problem, we just had to ring the bell in the morning and the manager would be up to check us out. Fast forward to the following morning and I ring the bell at 515am to a groggy voice who had obviously been sleeping. I said, "room 113 checking out." She told me the lobby was closed until 7am. I explained the receptionist said she would leave a note explaining our early check out. The manager informed me no note was ever made and she had no idea and that I had to wait until 7am. I told her that wasn't possible since we were planning to leave right now, so reluctantly she told us to hang on so she could get up and dressed and come down to the lobby. After she unlocked the door she told us nobody left her a note, I apologized for the miscommunication but affirmed the receptionist from yesterday told us it wouldn't be an issue. The manager pulled up our room on the computer and then walked down with us to inspect it real quick to verify everything was clean. But what really rubbed me the wrong way was while walking back to the room, the manager remarked that if her receptionist had sent her a text detailing our situation about wanting to check out early, she would have refused to allow it. Our room was clean so I recieved my entire $150 back, I apologized again for the mix up and left. I cannot recommend staying here. Not only did they have an asinine $150 cash deposit you're forced to make as well as not being able to check out until 7am, the beds we slept on were very uncomfortable with my parents agreeing with me. I feel like there are plenty of travelers like myself who stop at Mount Vernon for a night and wake up early to drive to a hiking trail so if that applies to you or you're just an early bird who wants to check out early and get back on the road, avoid staying here.
