He brushed it off with the comment that "There had been an emergency" (uh huh...) After all that, Dr. Gibbs refused to go ahead and treat my husband! He simply fired us! After waiting 4 months to get an appointment, and an hour to see him...we are back to a better periodontist that was highly recommended to us. So...in conclusion - don't bruise his fragile ego... just put up with anything, and you'll be fine here.

I had a gum graft done with Dr. Corwin and did not have a good experience. My consultation went…read morewell, but the day of the procedure, neither Dr. Corwin or the nurse, Regina, went over what exactly would happen. I had to ask specific questions to find out the process and what the recovery would be like, which was fine, but I would have appreciated a bit of explanation upfront. During the procedure, my mouth was numb but the numbing wore off towards the end and I could feel one of the stitches being put in. It brought me to tears and was painful. As a word of caution, the procedure is uncomfortable in general, where you can sense the cutting, there is a lot of pressure and stitches are flopped onto your face while they are being put in. If I were to have this procedure done again, I would opt for the anesthesia. I am not one to mind dental cleanings or procedures but this is an uncomfortable one. After the procedure, the nurse offered to bring me Advil, but because I was numb, I wasn't able to swallow the water to take it. The nurse laughed about the situation which really upset me, especially in the state I was in. When it came time for payment, the office staff did not have record of which payment option I had selected, even though I had called after my consultation to schedule my procedure and let them know my payment selection. So I had a bit of scrambling trying to recall what my husband and I had decided on payment wise, as I thought it would be on file and wouldn't be something I needed to worry about the day of the procedure. The doctor and staff were friendly and tried to make the best of the situation, but I will not be returning to Charlotte Perio for the second round of gum grafting, given the experience I had.

I recently had to undergo a deep cleaning--a procedure I've unfortunately had to endure at least four times before. Let's just say, it's never been something I've looked forward to. Add to that a history of unpleasant dental experiences and the retirement of my long-time dentist, and I had truly grown fearful of even routine cleanings. I stayed with my former dental office out of familiarity, but with a rotating staff of dentists and hygienists, it never quite felt right. After being referred to a periodontist once again and letting another year slip by in fear... I finally took a leap and began searching for new specialists in my area. That's when I found Drs. Nason & Lopez, and I'm so grateful I did. From the very first phone call, I felt seen and heard. The person who answered had the warmest, most comforting voice -- like a sweet grandma -- and she truly listened to my story. She found me an appointment quickly, and just a week later, I was in their office. And WOW... every single person I encountered was incredibly kind, professional, and personable. The energy in the office was warm and reassuring. Even the woman who took my X-rays was amazing -- gentle and patient. The periodontist clearly explained every step of my treatment and the timeline ahead. I didn't have a single question because everything was communicated so well. For the first time in a long time, I felt completely at ease. Now... I must give a special shoutout to my hygienist, KATIE -- an absolute rock star!
