I've tried this location a few times and the fries always tend to be greasy and way too salty. The cajun corn was good but salty. Their dry rubs on the chicken is absolutely terrible. No other words on that, the sandwich was good. If I were to give another chance, I'd probably only try the wet rubs such as bbq, or get plain chicken since them dry rubs are incredibly overwhelming. read more

We order take out from here on one of the delivery apps. The wings are always tasty and sauced or seasoned well. The order arrives promptly too. Not too crazy about the chicken sandwich though. Before yesterday, I had never had WingStop before. I had seen their food in other locations used in some YouTube videos where an eating challenge was involved and that's gotten me curious about their establishment ever since. More recently, I've had a few co-workers have WingStop (again, from other locations). So far, I wasn't sure what to expect other than wings. I had even seen that the Derby location had mixed reviews on Yelp, so my expectations weren't too high. Largely, I had not had WingStop because I didn't even know if they served this state. So once I saw this location after trying out the Bottle Returns at the nearby Stop & Shop yesterday, I knew I just HAD to come here for lunch. Upon coming here, I knew I needed to study the menu a bit to decide what I wanted because it was my first visit. What helped make my decision easier was when I had looked over the Boneless Combo and saw you could get two flavors. So what I had ended up getting was the 10-piece boneless combo with 5 wings of their Louisiana Rub and the other 5 their Spicy Korean Q as well as Cajun fried corn for the side and a drink. All told, it came out to $16.74. Service was friendly and attentive, and the woman taking my order was patient and understanding which is all I can really ask for in a place like this. Now, I notice on Yelp it said that this location doesn't accept Apple Pay, but I however was able to use Apple Pay here to pay that $16.74, so Yelp needs to get around to fixing that and soon. On the bag, I had seen that the order time was 1:51 pm with a Promise Time of 2:08. I had already eaten about a minute when I seen this and checked the time on my phone. Sure enough, time was 2:08, so it actually got here a minute or so faster than promised. The food was pretty good, especially the corn. Whoever In WingStop decided to make the decision to add Cajun fried corn to the menu as a side order deserves a raise! Of the two flavors I tried, I have to give a slight edge to the Korean BBQ. That glaze helps bring out the perfect balance of heat and flavor you expect in a Korean BBQ sauce, but the Louisiana Rub is the one you want to use the Ranch on. Both were really good and I'd definitely get those again should I come here in the future. Now, where I do have to take a star off is based on this place's cleanliness and setup. The floors, while not abominable, were kind of dirty. I do hope they have someone cleaning the floors here so this place can be more appealing for those who want to come here. Also, maybe it's how small this location is, but finding a place to throw trash away here was a tad disorienting. If you're visiting for the first time like I did, just keep this in mind if you eat in. But overall, this spot's very good for Waterbury takeout. Happy Easter! read more

I recently stumbled upon a new Wingstop franchise in Waterbury, and it's located in a plaza with ample parking available. The restaurant looks like a traditional Wingstop , new and clean and has small dining area. Their signature item is chicken wings, but they also offer chicken sandwiches, chicken tenders, and a variety of sides such as fries, veggie sticks, and desserts. During my visit, it was very busy restaurant with lots of employees working quickly to prepare orders for both dine-in and takeout customers. All the dining tables were occupied and lots of people were coming in and out of the restaurant. The employee who assisted me was pleasant and informed me that there was an estimated one-hour wait for orders. They say there is a first for everything, and this was my first "stop" in at wing-stop. First impression was relatively standard. The location is decently new at the time of this review. So as expected, it has that gentrification post modern vibe to the interior of the store. You know, the whole wood paneling, Taylor swift on the radio type of deal. Not that this is a bad thing, just thought it was worth mentioning. I made my way to the front desk where a friendly young lady was beaming with excitement to take my order. I happily obliged. I politely asked for the 8 piece Cajun boneless combo. My girlfriend got the same thing in the "Buffalo" flavoring. The combo comes with fries and a drink. The total was $28 after tax. The term "fast food" is being loosely applied, as the order took upwards of 2 pop songs to be ready. But this was no fault of the workers or the establishment, as the wing stop crew was bustling with pep and work ethic. With a little bit of elbow grease from our nation's great working class, our food was prepared and ready for human consumption in approximately 5 minutes. Hungrily awaiting my freshly fried up and tossed fowl, myself and company trotted to the furthest table to the corner of 4, 4 people indoor dining tables. My face was blasted with steam, flavor, and the timeless culture of Louisiana Cajun cuisine as I cracked open the styrofoam packaging. I asked the kind working man for a fork and did not hesitate to dig in. Time passed me by and before I knew it, my meal was finished and done with. The chicken, coming in uniform sized bites was evenly flavored and prepared to perfection. They were gone before I even knew what happened. The fries were more bountiful than the chicken, but left much more to be desired. They are comparable in appearance to the French fries from the "five guys" chain, except not quite as good. "It tastes like there's sugar and salt on them" my partner declares to me. Perhaps they are made of sweet potato. I don't really know. To make a long story short, I spent $28 dollars and finished my meal with significant empty space left in my stomach. But that's just how it is in this economy. The chicken is good, don't get me wrong. However, if you are an individual of decent size, do not expect to leave this place with a full stomach without dropping at least $20 on yourself alone. I would suggest coming with a skinny girlfriend who does not finish her food (more for me). This apparently is not a problem to most, though, as the citizens of Waterbury were buzzing in and out throughout my whole visit. Wing stop is not a bad option at all if you are craving deliciously flavored chicken, and it's not Tuesday,Thursday BOGO at Buffalo Wild Wings. However, I do not think I will be chomping at the bits to bust open the Wing Stop doors any time soon. Contrary to their competitor chains like BWW, Wing It On, and Wings Over..., Wingstop not only has good quality, fresh food, but also a great focus on service and cleanliness. If you are #wingaddict like me you will probably consider the bone-in wings quality average, but with good sauces, ranging from no heat to atomic. (Atomic is hot but not grossly disgusting and is actually edible) The best bang for your buck are the boneless wings, aka nuggets. They range in size but are very filling with just the right meat to breading, to sauce ratio. My personal favorite are classic buffalo, garlic Parm, lemon pepper and Korean BBQ. Wingstop is open 7 days a week for takeout, dine-in, and delivery through the usual apps. The staff were very rude to me, I placed a mobile order about 20 mins upon arrival, and was waiting for about an additional 45 minutes all while the employees laugh and giggle at my facial expressions from aggravation and embarrassment.
