But it's not just about the dogs. Their fries are golden and crispy, the onion rings are addictive, and the milkshakes hit the spot. The whole menu delivers that nostalgic, satisfying, comfort-food goodness that keeps you coming back. Service is always friendly and quick, and the retro vibe gives the whole place a fun, laid-back feel. You can tell this place has been doing it right for years--and it shows. Frankie's really is the hot dog king, and once you try it, you'll totally understand why!

I had to try the famous dogs... they were big, great bun, and I LOVE the fact that you put on your own condiments at the next window (read: not from packets!!). Service was outstanding. Friendly. Clearly a source of family pride. It had that feel of the place we all know and love from our childhood. I regret only getting hot dogs as I really don't love skinless franks. I was praying for snap. But... they were good. I can't wait to try a burger or the famous clams. Next time - no dogs. All other things. I'm sure they'll be outstanding. Clearly they're doing something right.

Enter Charley's, a food court eatery that was an easy walk to the mall. I've ordered from these guys a few times over the years since they opened, and honestly I'm kinda glad they are still here when plenty of other places to eat here have gone away. I mean, we still don't have a replacement for the Burger King that moved out a few years back, and I noticed the Cinnabon that had set up shop at this food court was gone as well. I went with the Bacon 3 Cheesesteak Meal, adding in the Ultimate Fries and Peach Lemonade. You are also given a free sample whenever you come here which is a nice touch. David was friendly when taking my order which is another plus. This food court's ambiance is about what you would expect in a Connecticut mall these days: a fraction of what it used to be in terms of traffic. Honestly, I don't mind it because that gave me more peace to begin doing some online training while I ate. The lemonade was a good refreshment. It does bug me that the peaches in the lemonade all want to settle at the bottom and not mix itself in when I stir it, but that's about my only gripe there. The fry on its own has a light crunch to it, not too bad of a spud. Honestly, the toppings added on to make the Ultimate Fries are what help make this side more flavorful and will probably be how I continue to order these fries in future visits. As for the sandwich itself, I've already come to accept that there is no such thing as a true Philly cheesesteak from Charley's, so it's best to temper my expectations when coming here. The roll it comes in was nothing special, but honestly I can't really complain when factoring in the price and convenience. You don't come here expecting a 5-star meal. You come here for something quick without breaking the bank. Once I take that into consideration, it's really all I can ask for.

Charleys Cheesesteaks offers a variety of Philly cheesesteaks and Philly cheese chickens, and some vegetarian options. Their menu also features fries and refreshing real-fruit lemonades. What's even better is that everything is prepared right in front of you on the grill. I have tried a variety of their sandwiches and specialty fries which are all good, but lately I have been gravitating towards the Philly chicken teriyaki. It is delicious and is made with all white meat chicken, onions, Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, mayo, and a delectable teriyaki sauce. I also love their real fruit strawberry lemonades--they are sooo goood! Service is always quick and the employees are pleasant. I definitely recommend checking out Charley's Cheesesteaks.
