I stayed there in September, there was some vandalism in the parking lot on one of the nights. The Laker Flag on my car was broken off and the flag was taken, along with other issues in the lot that night. I told the front desk guy, he said he knew about the vandalism and that they gave to security camera video to the police. There was No offer by the Hotel to reimburse me for the loss. If I could give this place no stars I would. Unfortunately they don't have that option on here. I don't leave negative reviews very often but this one deserves it. The check in process was easy but that was the only decent thing about this place. My mom and I stayed here last night with a reservation since we were in town for a horse clinic. I figured this place would be nice since it's right next to the racetrack but oh boy I was wrong. We got into the room and for one there was blood on the wall and on the window curtain! GROSS!!! They couldn't take the time to clean it?? I mean really or obviously they don't care! Second thing was there was popcorn kernels on the ground and they weren't from us considering it was there when we walked in. There was also crumbs of some sort under the table again not from us. The stench of grease filled the air inside. It was so bad we went and bought Lysol and am sure freshener which did not help at all. It was so bad it made us sick to our stomachs. This hotel is not clean at all. Well at least our room. I brought it to the front counters attention and all they could say was oh okay I will let management know. No sorry no nothing! If your looking for a nice place to stay at this is not the place. It is dirty and smelly. Not to mention the bed is the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in! read more

My father has had a time-share here for as long as I can remember. He has one of the two-story, 2-bedroom units with the fun circle staircase I recall thinking was the bees knees as a kid. The units are comfortable and well equipped with a full kitchen. They offer some grills and picnic tables in the courtyard pool area which makes it nice to have a BBQ over a holiday weekend like we always do. The pool is a saltwater pool instead of chlorine which is a nice addition. They have a small gym which we use, but I wish the parking was a little more organized. The lot is shared with the Red Tracton restaurant in front and the valets get pretty creative sometimes making it difficult to get to the parking lot nearest our room. read more

Staff were friendly and very helpful. They have a fire pit, pool table, gym, and swimming pool. This place is so nice! They offer Starbucks coffee in the morning (this was clutch). There was few food places and bar walking distance. They also have recommendations to go to and we tried Pillabox. We were not disappointed! It was delish. The housekeeping are there from 9am-4pm so after that if you need anything you will have to go to front desk. If you want go play pool, you ask the front desk and you have to leave your room key to them as a trade. The result is very peaceful and quiet. It was relaxing! If you're looking for a place to stay, I recommend this place. read more

Location, location, location are the three reasons this gets 4 stars. The "resort" does not have much to offer on site (most other timeshares have poolside restaurants, lots of activities and owners' receptions, etc.), but it is perfect for a staycation or weekend bonus time rendezvous. We're near the Fairgrounds, Del Mar Village, and the beach as well as several grocery stores, banks, and small restaurants. It's all very convenient. One of the things that sets Winners Circle a part is the quietude of the rooms. They are fairly soundproof and I love that I do not hear the TV blasting or a baby crying next door. I love that each unit has a semi-private balcony or patio and a kitchenette with a cook top. The exterior face lift is a wonderful change; our one bedroom unit could use some updating as the brass fixtures and peach accents are a little dated. Oh, and the silk flowers have got to go! If you can get past all that (yup, I'm superficial), you'll love it... that is until the annual $2K maintenance/facility bill comes! read more

We stayed at the Winners Circle Resort for the first time this week, logging a 6 day stay, booked via Expedia. We found the property to be affordable, peaceful, clean, and convenient. We spent our time visiting family further north, at the beach in Del Mar, downtown, and visiting the zoo. Everything was close, and outside of rush hour, traffic moves quickly. We were looking for a true one bedroom option, so we could put our 3 year old to bed at 8 pm, and have a living room to hang out before we turned in. We had not realized that this was a vacation condo property until we arrived, but never got a sales pitch. The few staff we encountered were friendly and laid back. We stopped by the nearby Albertson's to grab our essentials. The kitchen was perfectly stocked with pots, pans, strainers, and microwavable dishes, and storage containers for leftovers. The housekeeping staff is minimal, but oh so honest! Our beds were made and towels refreshed daily, but the carpet wasn't vacuumed once during our stay. We tried to tip for several days without success, before someone realized the money WAS a tip for housekeeping, even though we used the envelope provided just for that purpose. A couple words of warning - the free wifi was pretty tragic. Luckily we have good mobile data plans with hotspot capabilities. We could have used a better connection to stream our Netflix/Hulu/Amazon/HBO Go video content. Our kiddo could not understand why she couldn't watch Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood on the iPad. There were one or two other young children there, but the crowd there seems to be retirees. We enjoyed the serenity immensely, but mention it, in case others are expecting a "family resort" vibe. Hopefully we didn't annoy too sunning seniors with our loud giggles over at the children's pool! read more

This place is gorgeous! The kitchenette is a godsend for people with families. I love that they have free washer and dryer usuage. The jacuzzi is a big yay, especially after long drives or walking around all day. The rooms are very clean and the bed is comfortable. Huge fluffy towels and very hot water with good pressure. I would recommend this place in a heart beat. Free coffee in the lobby from 6AM-11AM. My boys enjoyed the GYM and the pool room. read more

This place is the WORST hotel I have EVER stayed at. EVER! Do not waste your money. I wish I had taken pictures don't know why I didn't, I'm kicking myself for it now. First of all it's under major construction right now, not disclosed to us at booking, so the first thing you see when you drive up is a huge ugly fencing and dumpsters everywhere. Then we open the hotel room door (we have a toddler with us btw) and after unloading, I notice in the corner of the room by the door a bunch of sharp wiring folded up and spread out all over. I'm assuming these were some kind of mouse traps (puke) but with my toddler there these are clearly going to hurt her if she gets curious so I removed them. Now I tried to be somewhat understanding that construction probably stirs up rodents but seriously, that's pretty freaking unacceptable and if we had any other option I would've checked out right then and there but being a holiday weekend and with a huge local event going on everywhere else was sold out. Next, we go out to the patio and this is the pool (see picture). Very disappointed as this was also not disclosed at booking. The next morning we go to leave and do not see a "do not disturb" sign anywhere to leave on the door so we just assumed they would leave us be until check out. We come back and the room had been entered and everything had been moved, not cleaned except the bed made and towels replaced, but simply moved. Also completely unacceptable. We wake up the next day and the kitchen is completely infested with ants everywhere and we hadn't even eaten in the room. We ate out the entire time. Luckily we checked out that day, but informing others avoid this "resort" at all costs. Hands down, worst, most disgusting place I have ever stayed! read more

Beware!! These guys can call upon the sheriff on You/threaten about it, without validating facts . Apparently, I was perceived as a threat by the front desk staff at night, as being drunk , just for strolling around the property while I was asked to leave the laundry room by the cleaning lady. I was being followed on the cam which seemed quite sketchy for putting stuff in my cars trunk to reduce my check out efforts the following day . Wouldn't be going back, as seems they rather prefer to monitor and profile the people than do their damn job of ensuring , communicating properly than going by assumptions, if there is a a complain from some hyper sensitive people. Also they are least bothered about glasses near the pool area which is clearly a hazard with kids hanging around there. Hence channelize on your due diligence to ensure pool policies were followed and acted on, by all residents . Seems they have had some violent or disturbing issues in the past, which makes me think, it's not a safe place to go to , where law abiding , peaceful citizens fall victim to their baseless profiling , false accusations . They also had the audacity to call my room , speak to my wife and being rude , high handed, proclaiming I was drunk and will need to call the sheriff, while my wife had to clarify that I wasn't drunk at all and was just doing my damn laundry , which already was too late because of some irresponsible residents not bothering to clear the laundry room. Hence instead of directly talking to me and checking facts , they handled this very unprofessionally which, clearly reflects their immature hospitality and management staff , no manager on shift duty. The Manager unfortunately wasn't available for us to speak to , nor bothered to get back yet, to address this issue. Thanks Winner Circle Resort for ruining our vacation . read more

Cozy studio booked through RCI Timeshare with a pool, jacuzzi, and other amenities. It's located right across the Del Mar Racetrack and there's free parking (you get a permit that you display on your dashboard from the front desk when you check in). It's also right next to the Fish Market restaurant so be clear about where you're parking since they don't share parking spaces. The WiFi was good and didn't have any problems. There were two extra pillows in the closet (but no extra blanket) and the bed was comfortable. I actually liked the scent of the body wash more than I thought I would (albeit I had low expectations since toiletries are never really the best when you stay in a hotel) and there's a grab bar in the shower (no tub). The water heated up pretty quickly and there's a fridge + freezer, microwave, and stove complete with utensils and pans. There's a coffee maker with Starbucks coffee but there was only Splenda, no creamer and just one real sugar packet. They do have Teavana tea, but I recommend going into the lobby to avail yourself of the different types of tea and get more hot water. Overall it's standard hotel stay in a convenient location off the 5 freeway. read more

DO NOT BOOK HERE UNTIL AFTER CONSTRUCTION. Unless you are okay WITHOUT the pool and sauna, laundry services, grilling, clubhouse and gym. They are currently under construction but do not mention it on their website or when you book your room, they do not notify you. I recently booked our stay in January 2019 and a month and a half later when we check in we realized we could not BBQ or use any of the amenities. They did not mention it when we checked in either? We had to find out by asking why we could not enter the gated area. Bad customer service and it ruined most if our vacation since I booked it based on the amenities they had listed. They do not have tennis courts but have an agreement to use the private tennis club next door. You will need your own racquet and no running tennis shoes allowed. Kitchen is very small in one bedroom and not condusive to cooking BBQ meals in doors. Very unhappy. I hope management makes some changes to better notify guests. Also, upon entering our room after check in, it had a horrible musty smell. The housecleaning dept must be aware because patio doors were left open. We turned on heater to warm up the room and had to turn it off due to another burned plastic smell. I have no idea what's going on here but I doubt we will be back here in the future. read more

Our room was basically a fully furnished 1 bedroom apartment with a very nice dual balcony area and a sofa bed. Places like Paradise Point may offer slightly more curb appeal but overall this is a better value by far under current market rate pricing. read more

So full disclosure I've been a owner for over 12 years , in large part for the racing amenities available. Today opening day 2018 of the Del Mar Races, mind you the only reason someone in San Diego proper should ever own a timeshare in this are is because of the perks to the racse, I was denied multiple parking passes as an owner of this facility. Call it dramatics but I have been paying 700.00+ dollars a year to maintain said facilities and yet unable to revive more than one parking pass. I can only hope for that owners are treated better!!!! I can't believe I haven't rated this place! I've owned a timeshare at the Winner's Circle for about 6 years now. I don't exchange it, we just drive up from Chula Vista once every year to chill in the Del Mar area. The units are pretty comfortable. We own a one bedroom, which includes two bathrooms, a small kitchen and a reasonably roomy living space. The down side is that it is a fixed week at the beginning of March. So it is really hit and miss as to the weather conditions. The up side is that it is usually pretty quiet and we don't have to compete with crowds of tourists around town. Over the years they have made a lot of renovations, so the clubhouse is pretty nice, the pool area and BBQ's are nice and the gym has all the basics. I haven't used the tennis courts yet so I can't comment on them but my hubby says they look well maintained. One of the best parts is it's close proximity to Pamplemousse Grille next door. It's a pricey French/American restaurant, but it's worth every dollar you spend. We also really like that there is free wifi in the complex, which is a new addition to the location. But that is a big one for my husband, so we are happy with Winner's Circle. read more

There was no one on the west side of the building next to the Red Tracton where a majority of the parking infractions occur monitoring ANYTHING, not the parking issues not the drunk patron issues, nothing. Yes I am well aware that the other business patrons have the "right" to park in the designated spaces but that was not what was happening. Several Winners Circle designated spots had cars parked in them by people with no parking pass and that parked and walked to the race track or to the Red Tracton. THEY WERE ILLEGALY PARKED AND THE SO-CALLED SECURITY DID NOTHING! Having 2-3 security people on weekends is great but opening day of ALL race days warrants EXTRA security, there essentially was NO security on Opening Day, that was one of my major points. I am not unhappy with the crowd during opening week, I am unhappy that year after year since the previous manager left, management has not been honest or forthcoming in the manner in which the parking fiasco during the week is handled and/or monitored. The lip service that is given to timeshare owners is inexcusable. Now not only is there a parking nightmare, the drunk patrons are too out of control - why - no security to be seen or heard from anywhere yet you proclaim there is security which it completely untrue. I should not have to give up my ownership week there as you offer, you should take this incident and do something about it out of respect for the resort. I don't think people want to read that during race season, the parking lot at Winners Circle is now a bathroom and drug lot for drunk patrons. read more

Stayed here for 3 nights and 2days, October 18,20, 2020. I just want to say that we have a wonderful stay here! First off, we had a hard time with our key cards as the door to our unit wouldn't open. Luckily the kind maintenance guy who is currently painting the hallways, mind you he is at the other end of the hallway, saw us and opened our door for us using his own key. He said that he'll open it for us so that we can put our things inside the room (as we have a lot!), and then we can go to the front desk to have our keys replaced. I truly appreciated what he did at that time, he could have just ignored us as he go about his job, but he didn't. I asked for his name, he gave it, but I had hard time remembering it as I was having a bout with migraine that afternoon. But a shout out to you Sir Nice Guy, we are the couple you helped get in at Unit 129 last Sunday, thank you very much! Upon entering our room, we were pleasantly surprised that there are 2 full bathrooms for a 1 bedroom unit! The unit was spacious, furnitures and some of the appliances are dated but clean. I wiped the carpet with a wet wipe and it didn't turned black like it did with other carpets at the other hotels /resorts that we've been through! Kudos on the housekeeping personnel! Front desk are very helpful, courteous and with a ready smile on their faces. When I requested for coffee grounds, bathroom stuff and paper towels, less than 5 minutes and the stuff are being delivered on our doorstep! Now that is customer service at it's best! They certainly made up for the dated but still very efficient furnitures and appliances. Our bed was comfortable and we were able to have a nice and restful sleep. The pool area was beautifully maintained, spa is closed due to Covid which is understandable. Big tennis courts, lots of fountains in the property and minutes to the beach. Completely Incompetent staff We had 2 MAJOR issues with our stay, which we brought to the front desk staff's attention. 1 - Upon checking into our room, my wife noticed that the bathroom was not cleaned completely as their was dried urine on the toilet seat. GROSS, but I figured we would just get cleaning service to come by. I stopped at the front desk each morning and was reassured that it would get taken care of that day, and on the THIRD day it finally did. 2 - I had rented a black Range Rover, and one morning noticed that the passenger door had been hit by most likely another vehicle's door. Our door had a dent with some red paint that had been left behind on our black vehicle. I noticed a red Ford Explorer parked nearby later that night, and noticed that there was paint missing on the corner of one of it's doors. I checked the height of the dent on out door to find that it matched up perfectly with the corner of the Explorer's door. I took a pic of the dent, their license plate, and of the missing paint on the corner of the door and brought it to the front staff's attention. I asked to see the security cameras to see if the Explorer was parked next to our car the night before, and the girl said that 'we were not allowed to view the videos, but that a manager would get back to us'. - This was on Sunday morning. On Monday morning, I stopped in to check on progress and was told by the same girl that the manager was not in till 9am, and when I asked if he had gotten a chance to look at the video, she said that he does not work on Sundays so he hadn't gotten a chance to check the videos yet, and that he would call me after he had a chance, and she also told me that "I was worrying too much". Monday passed with no news, and once again, I stopped in Tuesday morning to see a man at the front desk. I introduced myself, and he said that he was aware of the situation, but that the manager was in a meeting. Once again, I asked for the manager to call me as soon as he had a chance. We had to catch an early flight on Wednesday morning - earlier than the 9am arrival of the manager - so I stopped in and saw the same man behind the front desk. I told him how dissatisfied I was with their service and the whole situation. The girl came out to the front desk after she overheard me and they both looked at me dumbfounded as to why I was angry. I tried to make them aware that I had pretty much lost my window of opportunity to speak with the other guest about the situation because of them dragging their feet, but it was pointless, and I should have just called the police when it initially happened. I demanded that the manager call me ASAP. As I sat in the airport awaiting my flight, my phone rang, to which I answered... it was the manager of the this fabulous establishment who proceeded to tell me that he looked at the tapes and that a red Ford Explorer had parked next to me (as I already knew it did and just needed it confirmed), but that since I had already checked out that there was nothing that they could do about it, to which I told him how useless and pathetic him and his front desk staff was with regards to handling situations. Sure, if you need extra towels - they can probably handle that. Otherwise, I think that they are absolutely clueless and I'm glad that they are all working on the other side of the country. It was totally cute walking in like a lik studio apartment. It had a muggy smell though. But when we woke up. The sink and kitchen counters were all full of ANTS. After finally checking in we stayed a night in a newly remodeled room and it was nice but the only concern was my children could open the door because the newly remodeled room did not have the top lock/latch to prevent the door from opening. The next day we requested to stay in a 2 bedroom for a more comfortable situation. Which is great! I also was sent a message by the assistant manager where she apologized and offered a stay another time on them. Housekeeping is still a little slow. Requested a roll of paper towels at 9am and that didn't arrive we left at 11am returned to the room after a day at Legoland, housekeeping came to upkeep the room but did not replace the empty paper towel rack. My husband had to go to front desk and ask again. Now we're on a roll! They are slowly but surely making it up to us. More slowly but definitely surely! read more

We had a very disappointing experience with this hotel. We are four seniors, two from the UK, and us from Dallas, Texas. We had included the Winners Circle Resort as part of a bucket list vacation, to drive from San Francisco to La Jolla, over ten days, in mid May 2020. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, and the outright ban on TransAtlantic flights, we decided to postpone our visit, until it is safe to travel again. Our reservation was non refundable, however, given the circumstances, we expected to have offered at least a voucher for future use. I called the general manager, and left a message explaining our position. No response as of today. I also reached out to the booking agency. They said the hotel refused to offer any compensation, or even a voucher. I would bear this in mind if you ever want to book The Winners Resort. They appear to have zero compassion, even in these extremely difficult times. Sad reflection on the business. read more

This place is my favorite getaway. It is within few minutes drive to a wonderful Del Mar beach, where you can walk for hours. The hotel is small, 2 stories, with a beautiful swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna, outside showers and picnic tables for outdoor eating. It is exceptionally clean and well-run. Full kitchen, comfortable bedding and a nice décor. The staff is polite, courteous and helpful. Our special thanks to Rachel at the front desk, who was very helpful and very nice and friendly. It has nice rooms and amenties. Most of the building is outdated. The hallways smell like puke and curry. If you get a room near the front of the resort, you will have the nightclub shaking your room until midnight. But I guess if you like nightlife and drinking, one of their restaurants blasts music an hour after they are supposed to close. The people at the front desk don't seem to know anything about the resort (or care about what you ask). I will be requesting a refund because what was supposed to be a relaxing vacation turned into an uncomfortable ordeal everyday I was here. In addition, don't bother to apoligize with your generic "Thank you for your comment... We are saddened that such a thing happened" bullshit. If you guys were professional, you'd fix the problem and put your money where your mouth is. read more

This is one of my all-time favorite hotels. We only stayed here 2 nights but can't wait to come back for longer! I wish we spent more time at the hotel than out and about because it's so beautiful and relaxing! We had a few complications with our reservations and everyone over the phone was SO helpful and accommodating. I wish every hotel had service this amazing. We had to reschedule our dates, which is usually a big deal at hotels and I had anxiety just thinking about calling to reschedule, and the guy over the phone couldn't have been nicer and more understanding. Our room was beautiful, big, and luxurious. It really stands out from other hotels because it's a resort. Our room had 2 bathroom, a small kitchen, a living room, a master bedroom, and a patio. It was huge but comfy! The only thing our room was missing was the "don't disturb" sign. Either that, or it was too hard to find. Some tips: -Parking was a breeze, but watch out for the parking section that's shared with the restaurant next door. It gets busy. -Book in advance and call the front desk to ask about dates. Their online reservation took on their website isn't super user friendly. They fill up early, too. -Bring a swim suit! Even if you're like me and don't think you'll go swimming, you'll regret it once you see the stunning pool. -The room has a pretty big mini fridge--way bigger than normal mini fridges. It has a small freezer too. Bring your own food and water! There's a Whole Foods right down the street if you forget. -There's striped pool towels in the bathroom cabinet. Nice location across from Del Mar race track. 20 minutes to SeaWorld and Old Town, 2 minutes to the beach, 30 minutes to downtown San Diego. All with no traffic. Disney is also an easy ride from here. Well maintained property with an upgrade underway. read more

I was here for a 2 day weekday stay for business and it did not disappoint. I can say the room was too big for one person - having two bathrooms was entertaining at first. Looks like it's also a timeshare and caters to an older crowd. Wifi signal was strong enough to stream movies with no issues. No laptop desk but the round dining table worked fine. Kitchenette with blender, toaster and utensils. Separate living room from the bedroom. Balcony with ash tray for the smokers. Jacuzzi goes off late evening and there's a regulation size pool table and TV in the game room. Close proximity to the fairgrounds with two gas stations and two restaurants (Fish Market $$, Red Tracton $$$) literally next door, plus a Denny's. For the craft brew heads, take a $5 uber to Beerworks in Solana Beach. Ate at Coastal Kitchen at the Hilton across the street.. twice (smoked salmon flatbread and ck burger with fried egg). Also check out Curious Fork for breakfast. Oh, and a shot out to Betty at the front desk for excellent customer service. read more

We had originally been at a different hotel that had seriously misrepresented their rooms and we needed to find a new place to stay. The Winners Circle salvaged our vacation! We were able to get a wonderful room here - they offer a variety of activities and they made this a terrific getaway. We'll definitely be back. read more

Great Stay, twice! I stayed her in the Spring and the Summer. Both stays were great. I first had a 1-Bedroom which was facing the nearby restaurant. My 2nd stay, I was in a 2-Bedroom facing the race track. Both rooms were remodeled versions. The 2-Bedroom was great. Upstairs / downstairs style unit. Very spacious and clean. Beach is about a mile walk up the road to the west. Race track is walking distance across the street. Shuttle service during track season. This is not a 5 star resort but if you know that going in and you stay in one of the remodeled rooms, then you'll have a great stay. If you have high expectations and are used to staying at the Ritz, JW or W hotel, then you wont like it. Great local breakfast spot is the Beachgrass Cafe. Highly recommended. read more

I love this place, it's my go to hotel in the Del Mar area. Rooms are beautiful, spacious, have full kitchens with dishes and everything. Located right next to the Fish Market, which is one of my favorites too. read more

Lovely place to stay. We were able to check in early 12:00. Very nice people working here. The maintenance man working on the property was always so nice and helpful, I could tell he is a hard worker! We came for the horse racing at Del Mar. Went to the Fish market next door, had clam chowder soup and sourdough bread delish! Room was nice and clean. Can't wait to come back. read more

Very unprofessional; tried to check in at 1pm was told can't check in at 4pm. Was given parking pass and explained to front desk attending the fair, front desk rep assured it would be ok to arrive later in the evening - later in the evening got a phone call (9pm) no rooms available. Greg night clerk offered no solution and had no sympathy for displacing/inconveniencing my family. Asked to speak to a manager; Greg advised to call Monday. read more

Really enjoyed this location. If you are a tennis player make certain to visit next door to the tennis club - it's free. Willie and Matt are excellent tennis pros. The race track is a short shuttle ride away. Red Tracton is also on the lot - an old school bar and restaurant. Not the greatest, but very convenient. The pool and spa are salt water and the workout room is well equiped. The fire pit is well attended at night. The rooms were well appointed, but the wireless was weak and the TV (sorry, I had to watch my college football team play) had limited HD channels. If you have the opportunity, go to the Belly Up bar - great music venue; Bull Taco - an outside taco bar with good food and great views; Pacific Coast Grill for great seafood right on the beach. We are looking forward to our next trip to this resort. read more
